    Great Value, Nice Bundle Package

Hard to beat the price of this bundle package that includes the memory card, hardwire kit and the 12v power cord. I chose to hardwire my cam to give it a clean look with no visible cords. I mounted the cam near top center of the windshield, above the rearview mirror. Make sure you don't mount right against the headliner, otherwise you can't slide the cam off its mount. I tucked the wire in the headliner above the driver side. From there, I removed the plastic trim on the pillar and ran the wire parallel with the other wires that were behind the trim. Many cars will have side curtain airbags on this pillar. Don't run the wire on or in front of the airbag, you don't want to mess with safety. Then I ran the cord down through a gap until reached the floor near the fuse box. I plugged it into the fuse slot that runs the accessory mode in the car. This fuse slot only gets power when the car is on or in accessory mode. If you want to use parking mode, meaning the cam records when it detects a bump or collision when the car is not occupied, you can plug it into the fuse slot for the power door locks. This just slot is continuously powered. You might need to download the latest firmware on the Rexing website to get the parking mode. It is free to download. I've had the dash cam for about a week. It works as advertised so far. It's winter so time will tell if the dash cam can withstand hotter weather. It is rated to perform in heat up to 140 degrees. The blinking record button in my peripheral vision can get annoying at night but I forget about is as my eyes begin to focus on the road. I wish this model had GPS integrated vs. a plug-in GPS module. This is fairly basic dash cam at a great bundle price considering the memory card + power cords.

The Rexing customer support is very helpful. I contacted them about a parking monitor option. They sent me a link for a firmware upgrade which included the parking monitor option. Dash cam works great.

This is a nice compact, lightweight dash cam that came with a micro sd card and adapter, all cables & mounting hardware. Set up was very easy & screen is a nice size & has display for date time , your plate number & it also has settings like a camera with iso, exposure, white balance & resolution. I tested this by day & night to see how good the night vision is. By day the clarity was great, I had it on 1080, the range was good too. I was actually impressed with the night vision, it is Christmas so everyone’s decorations made things a bit brighter but it was a lot better than I expected, a car going by looks like a bright blur but still not bad. I had this plugged into a cigarette lighter & I left it plugged in while I pumped gas, it still recorded everything going on in & around the car. If your cars ports shut down when the car is off, then recording stops. The dashcam must be connected at all times to a 12 vol outlet or the internal battery will only record for 15 min, while connected it goes till your card is full. I had recording interval time set to 3 min. but will be changing it to 10 min, there is also a 5 min. setting. Microphone can be turned off, start up sounds can be turned off too which is probably a good idea, it’s a very high pitched somewhat annoying sound. You can also take still photos too. GPS can be connected but you need a GPS logger to do so & there is a port for rear camera but is says it’s not supported on the V1 so I’m not sure why it’s even there. If your in an accident a lock is placed on the video saving the current footage. It’s a nice little camera with a lot of features the reason for the four stars is that if it’s not connected to your computer or lighter/ outlet, the power lasts for a very short time, if you want to change the settings or watch a video you must be connected. I’m going to try charging it for a long time & see if this changes.

The Rexing V1 is a great quality budget friendly dash cam. Let’s face it, things have changed in this world, and the value of someone’s word is not the same as it used to be. Recently, my wife got into a car accident and was rear ended. The driver didn’t have insurance, but told her that she did. She proceeded to exit her car and try and tell my wife there was no damage to our car, and at first my wife believed her. Being in law enforcement myself, my wife had enough sense to call me, even after being rear ended and with the kids being hungry and tired. I thought the woman was pulling fast one, and I called the police to have them respond because I was out of the area. Bottom line, there was over $8000 damage to our car. For this case, I bought a dash cam. Again, things are just not what they used to be, and in my case the woman tried to lie to the officer when he arrived. What I like about this cam is the simplicity. It mounts easily, it is easy to use and the battery lasts more than enough for me. It has the option to use your cigarette lighter for power or you can hard wire it. Either way, it was easy to hide the wires and it looks custom. One thing I discovered was it came with two mounts. So, I placed one in one car and one in the other. It has an internal battery, so it doesn’t need to be hooked to power all the time. So we can use it in either car. Plus, with the two types of power hook ups, you can basically have it wired in two cars. The small screen on the front is sort of hard to see, so I don’t advise messing with it while you are driving. But I like the screen so you can see the perspective the camera sees. It really helped in mounting it too. There are two really nice things I really like the most about this cam. First is that the cam is very small and discrete. It is hard to see on the car, and does not block your vision. The second thing is the idea that if you are in a car accident with the can installed, it will earmark the footage. They call it collision detection, and it think it is a nice way to mark an accident when something bad happens. Again, at the $99 mark this is a great buy. It is a great investment in your safety, and I know I am happy to have it as a back up eye on the road for me now.

Overall, I am pretty impressed with this unit. The video quality is great and the features of this camera make it worth using to document family road trips (or proof of UFOs if you saw one while driving lol j/k) and having it as a means to provide proof of an incident or situation that happens while on the road. It’s worth mentioning that this camera does very well at night as well as great in the day. This can be a huge value in the unfortunate event of an accident or incident as it provides proof to authorities and the insurance company as to what actually happened. Installation is a bit more involved but it is not too overly difficult for anyone who is familiar/comfortable with basic wiring or is comfortable with tucking wire under panels in the car. This unit does come with the necessary wiring and cabling to install into most cars. I would recommend using an installer Service if you want it installed to look professional without the hassle a worry of doing it right. The color LCD is bright enough to use during the daytime and shows enough detail to give you a good idea of what the recording looks like and the on-screen controls and touch screen controls make it easy to use an operate. The design of the unit is great because it sits on your windshield at the right angle to be out of the way and yet still give you good visibility to the road for the video that’s recording. In all this is a great product and after my testing believe that everyone should have one of these in their car as it could help make everyone safer on the road. Having used other lesser quality dash cams before I would say definitely stick with one of these and the HD resolution to ensure that you get the best quality video. Last I like the idea of being able to use this to document road trips or drives through national parks or just simply beautiful back country. I have not had a chance to try it for this particular feature but do you plan to do this during the spring time as I think it’s a great way to document a trip. For storage it’s easy to use and swap out microSD cards to expand storage or change it out in the event that you have video you want to keep. The best part is with using MicroSD cards that you can pop it into most phones and review the video on your phone or even save it to your phone to send somebody else. If you have an iPhone you’ll need a A SD card adapter cable to be able to import the video. You can also take the microSD and imported to a computer as well. Included with it is a 32 GB microSD card which is definitely enough to get you started however you might want a slightly larger one to keep video little bit longer. Or like me I have a few other 32 gig cards So will keep those in the car and swap them out as needed or every so often. And important feature to know is that the camera can be set to record over old video automatically so it’s not like it’s better you have to replace the card when it’s full. If you were looking for your first dash cam and want one that’s solid video quality wise I would definitely recommend starting with this camera as it’s perfect for that every day type use.

Dash In And Buy This Cam

The Rexing V1 is the third dash cam I have owned, but the most feature-rich one yet. The first thing I noticed is how much was included with the camera. I particularly appreciated the 32GB microSD card. My previous units required the separate purchase of a memory card, if the use of a SD card was even an option. Secondly, in addition to the 12V lighter plug, it also included a generous amount of wire terminating at an already attached fuse tap that allows you to plug the camera directly into your vehicle’s fuse block, which is a very nice touch. The camera attaches to your windshield with a bracket and 3M double-sided tape. Installation time depends on the complexity of running the wire along your vehicle’s headliner and A-post. A plastic pry tool is also included in the kit, (they thought of everything!). The 12V plug has enough cord to hide along the interior trim also. Mounting is as simple as applying the tape to the enclosed bracket and then to the windshield in the recommended position. The bracket allows the camera to be removed and attached while the bracket stays fixed in place. Setup and operation is incredibly easy. It takes only a few minutes reading the manual to familiarize yourself with the buttons and the menu options, and it’s clear how straightforward the operation and customization of the system is. Standard options like resolution, turning the audio recording on or off, timing of the recording loop (3, 5, or 10 minutes) formatting the microSD card, setting time zone, turning the GPS on or off to register speed, gravity sensor sensitivity for collision detection, and even inputting your plate number are all easy to set up. The buttons are large, easy to read, easy to press, and some are even backlit giving visual feedback. The 2.4” screen is a nice size to view, although it’s TFT LCD so it washes out in bright sunlight being that its mounted at an angle that the screen matches the angle of your windshield. But assuming you need to view it, you would be in a parked such that you could take it off the mount and look at it at an angle that it would appear clear. One of the best features are slightly protruding knobs on each side that allow you to adjust the angle of the lens. This is apparently a necessity because the position of the camera body itself is fixed, but makes it convenient to make adjustments without having to loosen a knob, adjust the whole unit, then tighten the knob while hoping not to lose your adjustment. The V1P looks and feels every bit of a premium dash cam, and I am happy to recommend it to you.
