I have never used a dash cam before so this is my first one. I did a bit of research on dash cams and insurance and I cams to know that I do not get discounts on insurances but I could use the footage from the camera if I do get into an accident to show what actually happened. Note that the camera records only what’s in front of you if you have one camera. However, you can hardwire another one to capture the footage behind your vehicle. I am going to be using this to record what’s out in front of the vehicle.
SETUP
it comes with wire to either hardwire or connect to a 12v outlet. I chose not to hardwire (as I am not an expert) and used this cam to connect to a 12v battery. You then need to put in the 32gb memory card into the slot and turn on the camera. You can format your micro sd card using the camera and set to up for recording directly. You will need to set the date snd time and also the license plate number so that the video is timestamped on the video.
At some point I will swap the 32gb card with a 256gb one so that I can loop the videos longer.
USAGE
The dash cam is always on when you turn on the vehicle and in the record mode by default. It is indicated by a red dot. The camera has a pretty good coverage almost a 180 degree (170 degree to be precise) that’s really wide angle. I was able to test out during the day and night and the footages during the dat and night actually came out pretty good. I was impressed by how clear the night vision was , thanks to the Sony Exmor sensor.
The camera has a looping mode which means that the videos are overwritten once the micro SD card runs out of space.
Camera has 2 locking modes for looping, one automated and one manual. Pressing the OK button while recording will start the locking mode. The locked videos are stored in a different location in the SD card so that the data is not lost when the recording is looping. I think this s a great feature so that you do not lose important footage
Such as an accident.
Playback can be using the 2.4 inch LCD screen or you can take out the micro SD card and plug into your computer and you can browse the videos on the computer. The format of the video is .mov and I was able to open them using as vlc media player.
VERDICT
I think this camera is a keeper. The video quality, ease of use and price makes it a worth buy. some day insurance companies will start giving discounts for having dash cams.

The day of install at Best Buy, installer said I had to sign a waiver and they wouldn’t be responsible if the dash cam caused an electrical issue due to this particular dash cam. He said this particular brand cause major issue to numerous vehicle. Right after he said that I returned it and bought the NextBase 422. And never looked back!

The dash camera keeps rebooting itself. Sometimes it says its memory corrupted and I need to format it. But formatting it sometimes cannot fix the rebooting issue. I really don't know what caused the problem or how to fix it!

I have been thinking about buying a dash cam for a few months. Nothing like an accident to motiviate me to finally do it.
On 12/10/18, a 19 year old girl pulled out from a stop intersection right into my path causing an accident. Im awaiting a decision from her insurer regarding acceptance of liability. Had I had a camera at the time, this would be a no brainer.
Today, I bought 2 rexing V1 plus’ for me and my wife. I did a lot of research both before this accident, and since. My decision came down between this camera and the Garmin 45.
I chose the rexing because of the larger view angle. No wi-fi connectability, but I easily played back recorded video via the micro-sd card. Recordings were A+, both video and audio. Nite recording was A+.
Installation was extremely easy. I installed on 2 cars with zero issues. Tucking the cords behind panels was no problem at all. The unit is bigger than the garmin, but still small. I placed both right under the rear view mirror, and it fits nicely. (leave a 1/2” space between the top of unit and below the mirror to leave enough room to remove the unit from the window)
The unit came with a 12volt cigarette charger, as well as a “hardwire kit”. It also came with a 32mb micro sd card, and an sd adaptor to place in a standard sd slot. It also came with a handful of small clips, if needed, for running the cords, and a small plastic tool to help insert the cords behind panels.
I plan on buying 3 more for my sons to put on their vehicles.
Very happy with this purchase. Just wish I did it a week ago.

If you are reading this, then you probably drive a car... we all have had those moments where we think.... GOSH I wish I would have captured that... right after our heart stops pounding or something...
We never know when a situation will come up when we need a video, and you can't record it after it... and it just isn't safe to use our phones to do it. That is where this comes into play.
Very easy to install, and use. You almost forget it is there most of the time. Mounts right up on the windshield (for my usage, I had to move my TollPass device to the other side of the mirror)... And can be hardwired into the car (would recommend a professional to do that; Geek Squad), or can use the 12v plug in your car.
One down side, is the plug isn't a pass through, so you can't have two devices using the plug, so I had to get a Y-adapter so I an still have my phone charger as well.
The video image is very clear, given the size of the camera, and that it is going throught he windshiel glass as well. I haven't had a reason to look for any pure footage yet, beyond my testing (knock on wood)....
I am glad that I have this in place now, and if anyone commutes regularly, or just drives often enough... this is a must have for saftey, insurance, etc....

Extremely easy and quick set up, to the point that I thought we were doing something wrong, but we were not. Drawbacks on instructions is there was no suggested place to mount camera- I chose center. Now I have a cord running down the center but thats OK- its not bothersome for me. Driving down the road I was taking a GREAT video of the tree tops as I could not see where the camera was pointing while driving. I did stop and got it adjusted and it took a beautiful video of our drive. When we got home we connected the camera to my computer and I was impressed with the video and the sound. However...I took a snapshot in the video and could not view it as a clear pic. Both me and the car coming toward me were traveling over 30mph so I can understand blurry pics at 60 mph (see attached pic) However...again...I took pic from a video of a car in front of me, and I still could not zoom in. I have attached that here. There was also a reflection of my dashboard - see pic. It is a fun little camera and will come in handy for a few things I am sure. But it is just not able to zoom in to pull a plate number.

Best Dashcam for Sharing Across Cars

A dashcam has always been on my wishlist, but with a holiday roadtrip coming up, I decided it was now time to get one. The Rexing V1 is an affordable, quality dashcam and perfect as a starter if you want to see if a dashcam is for you. I call this suitable for a household because Rexing include everything you need to use move this from one car to another.
In the box is the Rexing V1, 2x mounting plates, 2x 3M adhesive strips, 2x chargers (1 for hardwiring, 1 for the 12V car charger), a 32GB Kingstson Micro SD card, and a USB charging cable.
Setup with the 12V car charger took about 20min. Tip, attach the backplate to the camera then put on the adhesive strip, then fit it to your windshield. The Rexing v1 is small, so I have managed to position the Rexing behind my rear view mirror. Don't stress about getting the camera angle correct, as the dials on each side of the Rexing are used to adjust the camera angle.
The real question on dashcams is what is the video quality like? You can record at 480, 720, or 1080p. There's no "funny business" in the options. At 1080p it's more than enough for a few days of driving with the 32GB card and loops recording after that. Field of view of the camera is 170degrees. Daylight images are crystal clear, night-time images are impressive given the price range. Both are more than good enough for insurance purposes (but that's my view, not a legal opinion)!
One of the cool things I learn about the Rexing is that it has a G-force sensor which will lock footage if a sudden braking/crash is detected. I (thank goodness) haven't had to test or use this, but it means you could use the camera as is with the 32GB card because it won't automatically delete/overwrite an accident - which is the whole reason you get the camera.
For testing, I have only used the 12V adapter but my plan is to use the included hardwire kit to fit it permanently in my car, as I drive to work. The extra adpater will be used for putting in the SUV when we do the roadtrip this holidays.
I was going to upload footage but think it will give away too much personal information.
Overall, worth buying, hard to beat this price for the peace of mind and extra evidence for your insurer.

The setup for this camera was quick and easy. The quality of the video was quite good considering the small size of the device. It can be hardwired but includes a plug that goes into your cigarette lighter. It downloads the video to a small sd card. The camera is easily adjustable. It can also take pictures as well as video. The small controls do make it slightly difficult to set the times, etc. It does not seem to adjust for time zones which would be convenient for traveling.

The Rexing dashcam is the height of simplicity in all respects. Setup was simple and fast, operation is automatic, and viewing of the videos could not be easier.
The unit is mounted on your windshield for best operation, and mounting materials and power wire routing clips are provided. A helpful video is available at the Rexing website showing permanent installation in a pickup truck and how the power wire was routed and connected to the truck’s fusebox. The unit can also be powered by plugging into a 12 volt power outlet, and this is how I connected it because I don’t plan to leave it permanently in one vehicle, but rather I plan to routinely move it back and forth between two vehicles. Two sets of mounting pads are provided to facilitate this.
Insert the provided mini-SD memory card, plug the unit in, and it immediately powers on. Formatting the card takes a few seconds after scrolling to the appropriate menu option, and you are up and running. The unit turns on and off automatically when power is applied, so connecting to a power outlet that is switched on an off with the ignition is a big help, which is how I like to use it. If it is connected to permanent power, there is a power button to turn it off separately.
Viewing the videos is accomplished either by removing the memory card, inserting it into the provided SD card adapter, and inserting it into a memory card reader on your computer. The easier way, in my opinion, is to take the whole unit to your computer and simply connecting with the provided USB cable. The memory card appears as a disk drive, and you can view the videos and move them to your computer’s hard drive with ease if you wish to preserve them. The unit records audio as well if you choose, so if you’re playing the radio or having a conversation (or muttering to yourself!), that will be recorded as well.
The unit records video in loops chosen from several pre-determined times, which are 3, 5, or 10 minutes, and after the chosen time is reached, the unit records over the original file. If you wish to keep a particular video as it is being recorded, pressing a button will put the unit in “lock” mode, and that video will not be written over.
Other settings available include video quality (1080p or 720p), camera exposure control, time lapse recording, date stamp, plate number (enter it, and your vehicle’s license plate number will be displayed at the bottom of the video screen), power off time, language, and more.
I found the videos to be clear and crisp while the sound was loud and clear. The camera angle is easy to adjust on the fly, and the camera is easy to pop on and off the mounting clip.
I cannot think of a single drawback with this camera. It is small, easy to use, versatile, and provides excellent audio and video. If you need a dashcam for professional purposes, or you’re just a hobbyist who likes to record journeys for any reason, you will not go wrong with this camera. I expect many good years of use out of it. Highly recommended.

Set-up for the Rexing Dash Cam was simple, but did takes some time up-front familiarizing myself with the system. This is because the buttons, screen and functions are small. But that’s also what makes it so nice once it’s set up.
Once familiarized with the controls, I was able to take photos, short videos, turn the mic on or off, and set up time-lapse mode. This mode allowed me to view an entire 3-day road trip in a few minutes!
Note: contrary to an earlier version of this unit, it DOES come with the needed SSD card.
Great. Easy to Use. Full-Featured. Good Price.

Loving this dash cam. Replacing my two year old camera with this newer, upgraded unit. Installation was short and sweet and came with everything needed to get up and running. Hard wiring was the way to go for me and luckily it was included. Spend some time reading the included manual and setup is a breeze. Quality of the cam and the video is fantastic for the cost and it seems like it should last a long time. No issues so far and I will return to update if anything changes.

Very disappointed in this dash cam. The quality of recording is so bad you can't read the license plate of the car directly in front of you
