    Piece of Mind

I researched a number of dash camera's prior to purchasing the Rex-V1P Plus. I definitely wanted the rear view camera. The quality of the unit is outstanding. Both camera's are compact and cause no viewing obstruction. Installation instructions were clear and concise. The picture quality is superb. I'm grateful for the piece of mind the camera allows.

Garbage unit. Had installed by best buy and dual cam has to be switch on manually every time i start the car. Clunky interface makes it frustrating! Same with the microphone! Just buy a viofo. Youll lose patience after fighting with it everyday. If its because of how its wired than thats even worse because it was installed by a best buy professional. I bought it to record dual cam no audio and if i cant do that reliably than whats the point!

I would not recommend this product. You pay good money for it, and good money for installation, to consistently have problems. First it was always needing to be reset because it froze, then would fall off with the taping provided. Then the 3rd time going back; he changed how it was hooked up, and connected to my main power. Now it resets itself all the time while I’m driving. It’s never ending issues, and I’m tired of going back to have it evaluated/fixed. Get something else.

The video is quite crisp. The camera does a really great job. Using VLC media player on my laptop worked as expected. Connecting to the camera was a bit of a pain. When you connect it to the laptop, the duration to select how it presents itself is too short. I could not figure out how to bring the options back up without unplugging and plugging in again. Installation needs to be really well planned. I have not been able to remove the mount after attaching to my windshield. The 3M pads included are pretty sticky. Running the cables (power, rear view) inside the car was a pain. I have tested the rear view camera but have not installed it yet because I want to be sure where I mount it is where I want to keep it. I wish I would have got the camera with WiFi capabilities. Downloading the videos to a phone would be much easier. - For what this is intended, this works great and as expected. - The menus are hard to navigate at first, but are doable. - An associated app would be great allowing connection from cell phone to change settings, download videos, etc. would make this a 5 star. - Mini-USB connection seems very outdated. Micro or USB-C would be preferred.

Absolutely useless. It's very small so easy to hide on your windshield but the camera quality is very disaapointing. The guy at BestBuy promised me this would work as a backup camera as well but nope it was anything but that. My rear camera failed on me after a week of getting it installed (by BestBuy)! If you really want a good dash cam that's worth your money go with the Auto-vox X1 Pro

Have this installed in all 4 cars in my household. Professional installation done by Best Buy. Bough this on a whim for Christmas and gave them to my wife, daughter and son, both of them just started driving. I just installed the same one for me today. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the videos and the ease of use. After it's installed just turn on the car and drive. Even has a G-Sensor just in case our cars get hit in a parking lot. Hopefully we will never need to refer back to it. But if we do it gives us peace of mind that we have the videos to refer back to.

The Best Buy I bought this dash cam at is being remodeled. Customers couldn't go inside to shop, but there are employees at the entrance to bring out order customer placed online, or assist those who walk up to this Best Buy to purchase a product. I told the employee I needed a new dash cam to replace my years old one that died. He showed me the different brands and prices and I picked the Rexing V1P 4K. I took it home, opened the box and saw there was a rear camera inclued - as well as a memory card included! Setup was so easy, I cleaned the windshield and back window. Applied the 3M sticker to the bracket, afterwards applied the bracket to the windshield. For the rear dashcam the 3M sticker is attached already, so I just had to peel one side and stick it to the rear window. I inserted the included memory card, plugged the rear dash cam to the front dash cam. Plugged in power, and got notification to format the card. Once that was done, the screen showed both the front view, and in a smaller window the rear view. A button, when pressed, will switch the rear view as the bigger window and the front view as the smaller. Now I have peace of mind when driving, knowing I will have footage of any fender benders or such. Thanks Rexing, for making a great product!

Just to get it out of the way; the front camera is fine. Install is straightforward and easy enough. Blah blah blah, every single other review said the same stuff. None of those folks were lying. Also; please excuse the length (or lack thereof) of this review as I noticed pretty much every single other review mentioning the exact same things over and over again and feel like I don't need to regurgitate the exact. same. talking points a 50th time. Now -- what I don't get is how does a kit with a 480P rear camera and no GPS/Wi-Fi comes in at this price point? To get the Rexing with both cameras in HD *and* GPS is only ~$50 more (V1P Pro -- plus, it has built-in GPS...oh and Wi-Fi, too). Why someone would not go with that kit is beyond me. At the price of this ($150) to add the GPS module ($30) you are telling me that 480P rear camera is ~$20...? If you say yes, please -- I'll provide you my venmo and/or home address. Just mail me the $20 and I'll save you the trouble of the install time it'd take you to put said camera on your vehicle because seriously, it isn't even worth the hassle (and I was laid off the week before Christmas and could totally use the money right now). No, it's that bad. You're better off paying $20 for someone to sit in the back of your car handing you Polaroids of an Etch-A-Sketch of what's going on behind you. Have your kid scribble you a crayola doodle flip-book if someone rear-ends you, because even *that* would be better quality than you get from this thing. Ok, that's enough. I just want to point out this shouldn't even be allowed to be called a two-camera system in 2018/9. Not at this price. Under $100? Ok, that's a starting. Get Rexing to include the GPS module with the V1P+ for $125? Not a bargain, but still a better deal once you start cross-shopping and seeing what all is out there. Can't recommend this thing, especially at the price it's at taking all of the above into consideration, simply can't. If someone asks me; "Wow, dual camera setup? Nice! Which one is it?" I'm immediately going to tell them NOT to go with this one, but to look at the V1P Pro *or* another make altogether.

The Rexing cameras are decent. This model with the rear facing camera is handy to have and will say that the previous model I have doesn't have it but renders a great image. This is no exception and this 1080P is crisp, clear, decent color renditions, and even at night it provides a useable image. If the purpose is to have this for proof of accidents and bad driving, it works. The stuff I see on the roads is crazy and having a dash cam, including the rear camera, is priceless for teaching points to student drivers, but also to show people how such bad behavior has only gotten worse over the years. In the few days I've had this model installed I've gotten some great clips of some crazy behavior. If you want an affordable dash cam that works and continues to work without fail, this one is a good choice. I've tried others only to be disappointed. Other shut off unexpectedly, don't have a good image, etc. Rexing makes a decent product. The only downside is the programming menus can be confusing to navigate. Once you get the hang of it, it isn't a big deal. But getting to that point can be frustrating. Anyway, give it a try and I'm sure you'll find it works like it should. If not, Best Buy has a decent return policy and you can try something else. I just know after using the previous generation with success, this is a nice follow up model and works as equally reliably - and you have to know that reliability is the most important part of having a dash cam.

    Excellent dual dash cam

This is my first dash cam and I must say I have been pretty impressed. The Rexing - V1P Plus Front and Rear Camera Dash Cam has great quality video and once you get familiar with the menu it is pretty intuitive. First of all, I think it was absolutely a great bonus that this unit came with both a 12V cigarette adapter as well as a hardwire kit. Install can be a quick and simple if you want to just use the cigarette adapter, however if you want to have a professional look with no wires showing, it takes a little bit of extra effort. There were a few good YouTube videos that helped me out. I was able to do a self hard wire install that ran the wires in between the ceiling upholstery and down the door panel underneath the rubber seal. These easily pull out and re-attach. If you are doing a hard wire install, you need to do some research on where your fuse box is as it will determine which side you run the wires. You will also need to research to find an open 15v fuse. The reset of the wiring for the rear camera was just as easy. You get 18ft of wire for the back camera. I installed my camera to a Nissan Frontier and it barely made it to the middle of the back windows. Probably because I chose to run the wires under the floor panels as I did not want to interfere with any of the airbag systems. This unit provides tools to help with the installation as well as two front mounts. Probably in case you want to use it in two vehicles. The rear camera would be permanently installed to one vehicle as it is not as mobile as the front camera. The video quality is excellent and you can choose your loop setting from 3, 5 and 10 mins. The footage captures both front and rear at the same time, but are recorded as two separate high quality videos with date and time stamps. The Rexing Unit helps dummy proof the recordings a little bit as it forces you to unlock a video or image before you can delete it. Makes it a lot harder for someone to accidentally delete a recording that was meant to be saved. You can also manually lock the current recording session to prevent the video from being overwritten when you run out of space in your memory card. Any videos recorded that are not manually locked will eventually get overwritten as once you run out of space it starts overwriting the oldest files in the memory card. This unit also allows for optional sounds on the recordings. There is a Gravity Sensor that is suppose to lock in a recording. Fortunately I have not had to test this capability, however I am not sure how it works or what the sensitivity is. By Default, the setting is on low. I tried to trigger a locked recording by jumping up and down on the back bumper, but nothing happened. Not sure how much force would trigger a lock, however maybe it needs to be actively recording for it to lock. That being the case, it may not record if someone hits your parked car. Or it just needs more force, but I am not going to test that. The 32GB memory card seems to be sufficient for my needs. The guide says it should be able to hold 5-6 hrs of recordings based on video quality. If that is not enough, you can upgrade up to 128GB memory. Overall, I say the Rexing - V1P Plus Front and Rear Camera Dash Cam is a excellent camera and provides good wide range video quality for the front of the vehicle. The quality for the rear camera is not as good, but does the job. Can get expensive if you opt for a professional install. Not really necessary, but does take some extra work if you want to have a clean look. I highly recommend a full charge of the unit before installing as these short sporadic drives is not sufficient to get a full charge.

    First Dashcam

Looking back, I would have loved to have had this when someone rear-ended me a couple years back in my favorite car (R.I.P.) Mounting the camera was fairly easy. All the parts are included, including the 3M adhesive mounting strips. The back cam is also easily mountable, and the instructions even show where the optimal mounting area on your back window is! Can't beat that! It's easy to hide the extension cord that goes to the back cam without having to tear your car apart (though, the more advanced car fanatic may wish to do so.) In addition, you can power it thru your regular cig-outlet, or if you are more adventurous (which again, I'm not) parts and wiring are included to where you can hard-wire it into your cars' wiring harness. The setup of the unit itself can be a bit time consuming at first, as there are multiple options for recording, The default is set at a loop of 3 minutes, which basically will create a new video file every three minutes. The included 32GB card can hold 5 hours of these recordings (in 1080p in the front, VGA in the rear) before it will overwrite the previous recordings. Personally I set the "loop" for 10 minutes. Now, if you are in a collision, the included G sensor will lock the particular file preventing it from being over-written! That's pretty nifty in my opinion. The unit also records audio (which, I turn off because I don't want to have to hear me screeching to my favorite jams). You also have a time/date stamp on the video as well as the option to have your license plate # displayed if you wish. Finally, the cam will turn on and off automatically when you turn your car on/off. The only caveat is that your outlet must not be powered when the car is off. In that case you must turn it off manually. Just as a previous reviewer - I've already caught some crazy drivers on my cam which I showed to my wife, because she doesn't (well, didn't, now) believe when I'd come home and tell her about some of the shenanigans I'd witness on my commute. The recordings are crystal clear and, in my opinion every car should have one, as it is included "insurance" in case of any incidents. This Rexing model, for the price-point, packs a lot of punch - and would be your best option if you, like me, have never had a dashcam before. And again, I just wish I had it years ago!

Pros: Relatively easy to install front camera. Front camera has good 1080p quality. Sound quality is good to go. Wire hiding tool is helpful when installing the wires. Cons: Rear camera quality is not good. Wire that attaches to the rear cam is not removable..weird. My fuse box is in the hood (Ram 1500) so hard wiring will be more difficult. I will start off by saying the idea is good and I knew the features of this model when I got it. I understand that there is more cost and a little more memory needed with both cameras at high res but it might be worth it to look at the V1P Pro Front and Rear Cam. I wired up the camera in the front and was pleased although It was just plugged into my cigarette lighter plug. As mentioned earlier, my fuse box is located under my hood so I will have to figure out a way to run it there, or pay best buy to install. Too cold to hard wire it myself right now. I hooked up the rear camera, when doing this I didn't run the wire under the carpet or hide it since I just wanted to test it out. There is a noticeable difference in the quality in the front and rear cameras, especially at night. Maybe I'm just spoiled by HD quality video? I assume this is because they think what goes on in front of you is more important or can add to the rear footage if you're involved in an accident? All wires seem long enough for a large vehicle. Using the camera is pretty easy once you get the memory card put in. No issues there. Overall it's not terrible. I guess if you're not too overly concerned with the quality of your rear camera then this might be a good purchase for you. If not, maybe look into the rexing V1P Pro front and rear cam, that offers GPS, WIFI and dual HD cameras for $50 more. You'd have to decide if it's worth it to you. I would rate it at a 3.5 if that was an option.

I have been wanting a dash cam for some time now. When the opportunity for the Rexing cam came along I was pretty happy. The camera did not disappoint. First off installation is easy and will take about 25-30 minutes. There are videos available to show you what you need to know to get up an running. The camera itself was very easy to set up and only took just a few minutes. The package includes everything you need to get going, including an SD card. Once I got this installed I took it for a ride. The screen is bright and easy to see during the day and gives you a nice wide front view. Night time was the one concern that I had, but this was quickly put at ease, the Rexing performed admirably. I've been hit twice in the past 3 years and both times the other party did not take responsibility, this Rexing should be just the ticket to alleviate that issue. Hopefully I'll not need it again, but if I do its a great piece of mind knowing the Rexing will have my back. I recommend, and think every driver should be using a dash cam.

You gotta love technology. With the craziness on the road these days, anything that helps solidify the truth is welcome. Enter the age of the consumer dash cam. Rexing has a few good offerings, and this one is a decent entry level option. Whenever I open an electronic product, I immediately measure the quality and build of a device. The V1P Plus is well built and feels substantial. The first thing you need to be aware of when purchasing a dash cam is that it will have to be installed. I say that because you will have to run wiring neatly or you will have a cord/cable mess on your hands. It’s not really designed to move from car to car, but to be more of a “permanent” fixture for the vehicle intended. With that in mind, installation for V1P Plus is fairly simple. Running the rear camera wire can be a bit tedious, but that’s to be expected. The best part of installation is that Rexing supplies everything you need to get up and running. Camera quality is a mixed bag. The front cam is great, especially at this price point. Video is clear and it handles motion well, and that’s exactly what you would expect from a camera designed to capture and record constant motion. Of course, 60 fps would be better, but at the V1P Plus’ price point, it more that does the job. The screen is a neat addition that allows you to verify camera reception and take a quick view of the rear. About the rear camera… Not so much. VGA resolution is a slick way of saying, “probably 480”. I’m very disappointed in the resolution decision for the rear camera. In a time where we are moving even wireless security cameras to 4k resolution, Rexing chooses to go backwards to analog TV resolution. The rear camera should have been 720 at the least. Video quality issues at times render the rear cam useless, and that’s sad. The built in G-sensor is a nice touch that I hope to never need – who wants to wreck? All data can be recorded to an SD card, and Rexing even provides a 32GB one for starters. I thought this was a nice touch, keeping the customer from the dreaded “need one more thing” or “I didn’t know I needed this” feeling. If you are looking for a just above entry level dash cam, look no further. I will stress emphasis on “dash”, seeing that the rear cam is not quite up to par.

Installed on a 2018 Subaru with Smart Hardwire Kit for parking monitor. Outstanding video quality during daylight; mediocre at night. Impressive microphone pick-up in the cabin, too, including while projecting voice to the back seat, i.e., facing away from the mic. Chief operational concern: unit runs very hot to the touch -- even with the screen off on a cold winter night, i.e., no external heat source, such as sun beating down on it. Unclear if this will change by upgrading from the wimpy included 32G card. Installation annoyance: removing the release liner from the 3M required perseverance with a razor blade. Overall: excellent quality out of the box, already adding value to the driving experience. Durability -- particularly in hotter/sunnier weather -- TBD.

Setting up this vehicle camera system was incredibly straight-forward! Probably the easiest setup of any electronic device I've installed into a vehicle! Picture quality on both cameras is very good during the day and pretty decent at night as well! The image quality is definitely better driving through the city, where you have the assistance of street lights, than out in the country at night. Would definitely recommend to those who are looking for something to cover their drives from the front and rear!
