Customers are saying

Customers find value in the V1P Pro Plus dash cam's excellent video quality and ease of use, along with its integrated GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities for convenient viewing and sharing of recordings. The included rear camera and relatively easy installation are also frequently praised. However, some users have noted that the device is larger than expected and that the accompanying app could be improved for better user experience.

I bought this after reviewing in depth every day can in my price range. It was a Rexing made for Best Buy model. I love it! Honestly, because this Best Buy version has more features than what the standard model has, I was not aware this one had the parking monitor until I happened upon it while learning the menu functions. It would have been great to have the manual for the Bestbuy version so everything would make sense, but with use, you figure it out.

    Dashcam Review

Decent dashcam. My wife got it for me for Christmas. It works well, but the menus/controls are a bit awkward. The included documentation and installation guide are minimal to useless. The only mounting options included are permanent (i.e. adhesive tape). I had to order a suction cup mount from BB - not expensive, but should have been in the box. I have not hooked up the rear cam or used the permanent installation wiring harness yet. As stated, no instructions for that but they do reference an online video for installation instructions. It works well, the picture/video quality is fine. It takes videos in 3 minute chunks (not adjustable) so when trying to find a specific video file, you need to know approximately what time it was to find a specific clip. The mic is mutable. I have not yet tested GPS functionality nor connectivity with my smartphone, although I have connected it to my PC and it just looks like an external SD storage device, so easy to open and copy video files. It has to be plugged in to a USB power source to operate.

This camera works well, always boots up and starts recording right away. Connecting your phone to its internal Wi-fi is a little tricky, but it works with the app. Overall very happy with it.

Wanted a front and rear camera. Had Best Buy install. They did a fantastic job. Very happy. Now hopefully I won’t get in an accident and need to use it.

I haven't needed to use footage from this camera duo yet, but in the short time I've had it I have recorded several near-accidents around me and also caught a truck from an electric utility nearly rear-end me while I was stopped behind a car waiting to turn. I was able to post video on YouTube and send the link to the electric company to show them the near-fatal accident their driver almost caused. The memory card saves the front and rear views as two separate videos at the same time. The audio works really well and I could be heard shouting obscenities quite clearly when I was nearly hit. I ended up going with this higher-end model because it had both the front and rear cameras, and it had the GPS capabilities already built in instead of having to mount an additional unit. To use the GPS, you download their software onto your computer, then when you play your saved videos, the software shows exactly where you were on a map, and displays your driving speed as well. This could all be crucial information if you had a wreck. I've been very pleased with the nice wide angle of the lens--you can see an awful lot of what's going on around the car. The picture has been clear, even on cloudy days. I haven't looked at night time video yet. Saving videos is easy--I just reach up and push a button on the camera whenever something happens around me that I'm going to want to save for later, and it puts that segment in a saved folder that doesn't overwrite. I have some complaints about the buttons because they aren't real user-intuitive. You need to get out the handbook to figure out the menu and how to navigate it. I still didn't knock off any stars for this because of the otherwise high quality of the unit.

I had Best Buy install this camera 3 days ago. The Best Buy tech did a good job. He updated everything in the camera while doing the installation. Camera works as expected. The big disappointment is the app. I have tried numerous times to watch the recorded videos using the app. It has not worked yet. I get the never stopping "loading" death spiral. I would still recommend this camera after adding a disclaimer about the app

It is what I expected. Installation was easy. The cable routing tool was a plus. One issue I found was because of the placement of the power cord, it is difficult to remove and insert the memory card. And when the cord is unplug you have to reset the date and time.

Easy to install and use. Would be nice if the main camera was just a little less bulky and if the rear camera’s wiring had a 90* connector that plugged into the camera instead of a straight connector. Seems to work well and it was nice that it came with a hard wire kit AND the power port connector.

Very nice piece of technology! Works as advertised, Rexing app works well on both IPhone and IPad. A lot more info is gathered than I expected. Size is perfect, mounted to center pax side, can’t see it behind rear view mirror. Purchased because it had dual cameras, GPS, and WIFI in one pkg. Hardwired into car but car power cord would be fine also.

The camera is great. The video is awesome. I love the features. The only reason for 4 stars is that it is a real pain trying to connect to it with the wifi to watch video with my phone. That was one of the big reasons I bought it and got rid of my old cameras.

I'm satisfied with this dual camera system overall. Pros: ~Feels solid and well made. ~Easy to install. ~Includes wiring kit. ~Includes a tool that makes it very easy to route your wires through the roof. ~Image quality is very good. ~GPS is built-in and seems pretty good. ~The playback app on your computer displays the GPS map and the mp4 at the same time. Cons: ~Is very flakey if you use the plug to power it (crashes.) ~The wifi is crap. Doesn't broadcast the wifi most of the time. ~Wifi file transfers are slow and sometimes fail. ~SD cards wear out very quickly. ~VERY difficult to eject the SD card. There is NO eject mechanism. ~The playback app on your computer can only play one mp4 and the GPS map at the same time. I wish I could see both cameras and the map all at the same time. I suggest hardwiring it into your fuse panel. It's very easy and the Rexing seems to work best this way. One huge negative is the fact that when the SD card fails there is no indication. It continues to act like everything is just fine. You won't know until you try to playback or remove the card and reinsert it (it will not see the card and ask you to insert a card.) I bought a recommended 128GB SD card and it failed sometime before 3 weeks. I only discovered it when I needed to playback a file. I believe this is due to all the constant writing and over-writing to the card. I found the wifi connection to your phone to be worthless. It would not broadcast the wifi until I restarted the Rexing several times. And then the files transferred so slowly it wasn't worth it. Easier to just pull the SD card and take it inside to a computer. Which brings me to my last negative. Why oh why would they not have any method for ejecting the SD card when the card inserts all the way? This was just BAD design. In my opinion, that is a major fail. At the very least the card should protrude enough to be grasped. You will need to dig it out with a pin. DO NOT think the holes on either side of the SD card slot are eject buttons. One is the reset button for the camera and the other is the microphone (not labeled.)

I purchased a new vehicle and I needed to get a new dash cam. All of my other vehicles have a dash cam. The Rexing VIP have a front facing camera and a rear camera so that you are covered on both ends. Image is clear and sound is also clear. Installing it was easy and I guess it also depends on what type of vehicle you have. I was able to tuck all of the wires in the headliner.

Rexing V1P Pro dual dash cam

Recently bought the Rexing V1P Pro dual front and rear dash cam on sale at Best Buy. This is my second dash cam and first one from Rexing. I decided on it for the over-all value and reviews were very positive. I have had it a couple of weeks now and it has worked perfectly, much improved from my old one (different brand). The wifi works perfectly for me; I've had no issues at all. Before I installed I checked the firmware on the camera but no update was required as it had the latest firmware already installed. I'm happy to have the rear cam now as my old one did not and I think it's important to have the rear view. Also the wifi is important as the screen on most camera's are small and difficult to see details if you need to see them on the spot. Instructions and online support are very good, so I had no trouble installing - for now I have it powered from the aux power in the console but will hardwire. I was surprised to find the hardwire kit was included - I didn't expect that and was very happy to see it. I will need some add a fuse extensions as my car has micro2 fuses (smaller than what the hardwire kit has) - thus I have not installed the hardwire kit yet but will do so in the near future. I've already scoped out the power sources and it should be fairly easy. Very happy with my purchase and especially with the value of this product from Rexing.
