First, I should note that I received this camera, and had issues with it. I did a warranty exchange, and the new unit had the SAME issues, so I can only review what I see, problems and all. Either all units suffer this problem, or quality control is so lacking that you stand a chance of seeing the same problems. On with the review. The design included three physical cameras: one on the main unit itself facing forward, one plug-in on the right side to record the passengers, and one that attaches to the rear window via a long cable to record the cars behind you. One of the main features is 4K recording. Is it usable? Not so much with this kit. Once I enabled “4k 30 FPS” I got 4K recording on the front camera. The two rear-facing cameras? Not usable at all. So much for that feature. Note that there were two other options in the menu that MIGHT have enabled all cameras to work. Let me check the manual. Whoops, no manual at all – even on the web site! All you get is a quick start guide, which goes over NO menu options at all. OK, you start driving. This unit features a built-in GPS receiver. It works so great that I was going over 30 miles per hour while stopped at a red light. This was after 20 continuous minutes of driving (ordinary GPS receivers can get ephemeris data after about two minutes, so there was plenty of time). So much for that feature. This unit also does not have a battery. From tech support: “The supercapacitor will support unit for 3-5 seconds to shut down the unit.” Guess how long mine lasts? If you said “0 seconds” then you are a winner. There is also a red battery icon in the upper-right corner (yes, two separate units had this same defect). There is also the “voice commands” which seem to work well, mostly. There is a command for “Stop video.” Guess what that does? It stops the current video recording and immediately starts another one. Since each video is, at most, one minute, this seems of dubious utility. Yes, each video is a max of one minute. There is also an elapsed recording time in the lower-right of the display that has enough digits to count up to 99 hours of recording. Huh? A six-digit time counter where you can only use up to three digits. This shows the loving craftsmanship that was used in slamming together a unit as quickly as possible. According to the company’s web site, there were no firmware updates available at the time of this writing. The camera starts out showing video from all three cameras. The front camera takes up the lower half of the screen, and the interior and rear cameras split the upper half. If you get a notice on power-up (such as a problem with the SD card), it pops up in a yellow box in the middle of the screen. However, the two extra camera displays cover up the top half of the display, making it unreadable. Score one more embarrassment for the firmware team! After an app update, connecting your phone to this camera works just fine, allowing you to view nearly live video, or to download photos and videos. At least this feature actually worked, a pleasant surprise for this model. Finally an advertised feature that works as expected.

A triple camera 4k dashcam worth considering

The Rexing V5 Plus is a complete package needed for recording incidents in the car. It is a 3-piece system consisting of a front, cabin, and a rear camera. The front and cabin camera is housed together, while the rear camera is a separate unit that needs to be wired to the front unit. From a design point of view, the Rexing dash cam (front unit) is pretty large, and I had a hard time finding a good spot on the windshield of my truck. Especially, since a large area near the rear-view mirror is occupied by the safety sensors. This, and the particular share makes it quite difficult to mount it discreetly. I have tried multiple places, but never found a place that hides the camera from outside view. Other dashcams (especially the wedge shaped ones) are easier to do so. Furthermore, the position of the cables (1 for power, and another for the rear cam) does not help at all. As for the video quality: the front camera offers 4k resolution, but I kept it at 1080p, siding with a higher frame rate. The overall video and images from all 3 are adequate. The cabin cam has a purplish tint. The rear camera is ok. Overall with stock settings, the videos look ordinary - it gets the job done in terms of clarity, color etc., but nothing to be blown away withI didn’t fiddle much with the settings yet as I was trying to test it out with “out of the box” settings so I believe there is room for improvements. Mounting and setting up went without a hitch from the camera point of view. The included mounting hardware is straightforward to use. However I wish the instructions were a little more elaborate. The Rexing V5 offers WiFi connectivity via the Rexing Connect app. For a couple of days I couldn’t connect it to the camera at all. However, an app update seems to have solved this issue. The app is good for video viewing (including a live view), but not all the settings of the camera can be controlled by that - this is a major bummer for me as I wish I could change those without fumbling with the on-camera buttons (which is not easy while it’s mounted). Overall, I’m happy with the Rexing V5, as it offers a good package in this 3-camera system. WiFi connectivity is a good added bonus though the app has limited functionality. The video quality is workable with default settings. Definitely something to consider if you’re in the market for a 4k dashcam.

Very good camera. I made the mistake of ot buying the hardwire kit on the manufacturers website.. 6 months after buying, the camera doesnt function properly, hard to get into the menus, doesn't give off wifi to connect to the phone anymore and doesnt record to record to sim card even though it says its recording nor can sim be optimized with the unit. Not fault of the product, mine for leaving it plugged into the 12v outlet 24/7 without proper shut down / start up. Probably shorted something out, cant get product to fully reset, only reset settings. Little disappointed as i bought this for $350 but also lesson learned when i go to buy the next one.

I have had a decent dash cam for about a year. One thing that always bothered me is that if there is an accident from behind, I have no video covering that area. My daughter and her boyfriend were slammed from behind and a video would be very helpful during the court case! This camera covers a wide front view, a cabin view, and a very clear rearview. Installation was pretty quick. I was not able to feed the cable completely under trim from the front to the back but the tool provided helped me get it under enough trim to keep it out of the way. I have a mid-sized SUV and there is PLENTY of extra cable to run to the back camera. I had to use the twist ties to collect some extra and keep it out of the way. The only downside- I have not been able to get the app to pair with the camera so that I can see what the camera sees on my phone and download clips. I have reached out to support at Rexing but it has been about 5 days and I have not heard back (one demerit for the company). The memory card is easy to remove and plug into a computer to review your drive without using the app but I would like to get the camera connected to my phone eventually. Hopefully, Rexing will contact me back soon. Overall, this is a great way to view the front back, and cabin for your protection. Check your state for regulations. In my state, nothing can block my vision so I have mounted it right behind my rearview mirror. It does mean I cannot see the screen on the camera while I am driving but I should not be looking at that anyway! The camera is to record if, heaven forbid, there is an accident or incident.

    Sleek Design, Fun

Purchased this dashcam with a hardwire park it kit, as well as an installation from Geek Squad. First off, Geek Squad did a great job installing my both of my cameras, and allowed me to explain exactly how I wanted it to be placed. As far as the dashcam goes, it’s a great quality picture on all three channels. It was a little tricky to try to maneuver through the different buttons and their functions, as well as remember what each does. Getting all three cameras on the screen is a little overwhelming, but I’m not sure if the camera records from all three angles, unless they’re displayed on the screen. Voice commands aren’t very responsive unless your music’s volume is pretty low. Understandable, but I listen to my music very loud. Super fun to take selfies on the cabin-facing camera. The color is off a little, but I’m sure I can change it in the settings. The V5 is a very impressive model. I’m enjoying it very much, but I’m also still learning a lot

Works as advertised. The image quality is awesome! This cam is easy to install as well. The recordings are smooth and high quality. It does not take up a lot of space. At night the quality of the video is still clear. The camera has built-in GPS and is linked to Google maps, so it makes it very easy to document your roadtrip. It is also good for still photography. An awesome product overall.

The quailty of the camera is well made. Very durable and looks great. The power cord for powering the rear camera gives more than you need so dont need to worry about not being able to reach anywhere in your vehicle. The picture and screen quality are superb with the 4k lense that is crystal clear. The rear camera also has a extremely clear picture with being only 1080 resolution. I could go for a bit to say the good about this camera. But what makes it only come out to a 3 star from pretty much everything being a 5 star is the fact that it has the worst of times recognizing the SD card which makes most of the functions on the camera including recording not able to work which causes it to freeze often and not connect to the app. Without the ability to record the camera becomes worthless and in the way. This was very disappointing since i waited and wait and waited to get this camera and it finally was on sale so i feel i wasted time waiting on something that was gonna disappoint me. Im not saying dont try it out as i may have had a defective camera, but im also saying dont get your hopes up. Be prepared for an issue like i had with mine but dont be 100% against it as its unknown if its just my camera or a manufacturer issue

I wasn't sure how to hook this up, so geek squad actually did it for me! It lasted a long time. I no longer have the car, so I don't have the product anymore. The product was great. I checked the card on my computer because I had technical difficulties looking at the feed on my phone. I love how it had a 360 view inside and outside of of my car with all of the cameras. It kept everything safe.

We purchased 3 of the Rexing V5 plus and the additional hardware kit from Best Buy. Received it in a very timely manner. Installed it in the 1st 2 vehicles and the quality of the cameras is fantastic BUT nowhere in the manuals or the website did it tell you how to get into the menu to play anything back so after a long trial and error I stumbled on to how to do that. In the meantime I thought I would try contacting their Tech Support which is an absolute joke and waste of your time. I had questioned them about getting into the play features features, I question them about updating the firmware which some of the 3 were old firmware, I questioned them about them about the units shutting off the second it was unplugged. All of those answers came back with stupid responses and they do not want the firmware to be updated in a brand new unit they said it may corrupt the program BS. They never responded about getting into the play features features and they said the capacitor will keep the camera running which it does not. The second the power in the car is turned off the camera died instantly so upon a collision there will be absolutely no recording if you're Unit becomes unplugged or loss of battery power it just dies it does not continue recording. They wanted me to go and hit the camera to see if they cam on and stared recording to simulate an impact, None of the 3 worked. I have sent several emails and got bits and pieces of responses not addressing the questions the questions as such so don't expect any help with their text support. So at this point I have 3 Rexing V5+ dash cams that I can not update the firmware, Will not record on impact if outside power is lost, Also the ads state you can set the record time 1,3 and 5 minutes. Rexing say NO. ONLY 1 minute. So at this point I will most likely return everything and look for a better unit.

a marble among all the other dash cams. the voice control was especially useful, used it for couple of days now, no major misunderstandings between the voice communication. I have to say, been a loyal viofo 129 duo pro for 2 years now, and like many others, I too am spoiled by viofo's quality, but this is worth the upgrade. True 4k resolution with marvelous stabilization really enhanced the readability of license plates. Night vision was a huge boost from my old dash cam also. Overall, I am a satisfied customer. well done.

Awesome 4K Dash Cam. It has WiFi and voice control for start and stop recording. Also comes with multiple attachments, I have been using it for a while now. So far so good, no complains at all. Only minor thing I can think of is the stabilization. It isn't stupendous, but at this price point, I am extremely happy with the performance. I've not yet tested the case in winter. I'll update my review when I found something else that worth mentioning.

3 Stars because it is a good camera. 3 stars because the app to link it to my phone is Ludicrous. I bought this so I could instantly access the videos with my phone. The process literally took hours to get it done. And then No GPS mapping available that I could find as of now. Guys! this is a High end Dash Cam. I expected better. Imagine this: It took taking to YouTube and several videos to figure out the EXACT process you Need to take to make the app work right. Even now I am left unsure it will work when I need it. Instructions are some of the worst I have ever dealt with.

This is a great dash camera that will give you peace of mind that in case anything happens while driving, you will have a high resolution recording of what transpired, including any road signs, license plate numbers and any signal lights. In case of an accident, it will not be a case of everyone having different versions of the event but rather having available an impartial recording of exactly what caused the accident.

Horrible horrible dashcam, I wouldn’t even buy it for $5. It ceases to work on its own in mere few weeks after installation. Went through 3 of them, and all had the exact same issues: Freezing screen, unresponsive buttons, endless rebooting cycles, single channel display instead of the 3. And dont get me started on their app, a 7 year old couldve designed a much better one. If 0 stars was an option, because Rexing doesn’t even deserve a single star.

GPS won’t work, drains the car battery if left ON for more than 2 days, false collision alarms, the iPhone app is the worst and useless, doesn’t work 80% of the time, or takes forever to load.. you’re better off taking the SD card out and viewing on a laptop. For the price i think that at least the app should work, the video quality is pretty good, but could be better for the price.
