Very solid and great sounding headset. The construction of headgear is very well built. I was looking for surround sound and it delivered. A very nice gaming headset I love the comfort I have a large head and it was no problem. I love the lift mic and click off feature. Mic quality as good.

Don’t waste your money!! I had them for a couple of weeks and the mic switch when you flip it up drops back down.

Everything works as described. The mic is detachable and flips up and down on a clean swivel. The auto-adjusting band works better than one would expect, and the large sponge cuffs are comfortable and feel fine even after extended use. The headphone cable is also detachable, meaning you don't have to replace the entire set of cans if you mess up the cable, which is also a huge plus.

Our RIG 500HD was doing well but then both speaker connections went bad within a month of each other . . . and, it was hardwired into each speaker. We got the RIG 500HS on sale and even though it is advertised for the PS4 and stereo (vs the 500HD surround), the connector works fully with our prior 35mm <-> USB Plantronics connector that came with the prior model. Drivers picked it up after we connected and it's back to the races. Another bonus is that the 500HS speaker connector is an apparently replaceable cord instead of being soldered directly to the speakers. Sound is very good (even though it is stereo vs our prior surround model - we really don't notice any effective difference in games), comfort is nicely adjustable for each person's head and the microphone is more flexible than the prior model, so we're happy with this purchase.

First off, Plantronics makes a headset called the Rig 500 Pro, not to be confused with this headset, the Rig 500 Pro HS. The Rig 500 Pro has a metal top band and a standard 3.5mm cable with inline volume control. This model being reviewed, the HS, is all plastic and features the new "Game Audio Dial", which is a volume knob in a molded plastic connector that is designed to connect only to a PS4 controller. This isn't designed to be used with PC or XBox One. There is no other cable included, but if you buy or have another, then you could use this with something other than PS4. The headset is fairly light weight and is comfortable to use. The all plastic design does have a cheap feel to it and I'm not sure how durable this would be long term. The ear cups are not quite large enough to fit larger ears as "over-ear" and would probably be considered more of on-ear. Compared to the Logitech G-Pro headset, the G-Pro has larger over-ear cups and a traditional adjustable band. The G-Pro seems more sturdy and a bit better build quality, although they are heavier. Sound wise the Rig 500 Pro HS sound very clear and balanced. Nothing jumps out as sounding overly bad or good. To my ears, they had a bit more detail, depth and bass than the G-Pro. They don't isolate background noise quite as well as the G-Pro design. Overall, this is a good headset for the intermediate price. They have a detachable connection cord and detachable mic, which you usually don't find with less expensive, lower quality headsets. The mic has the flip-up to mute design, which I'm not overly wild about. Mic quality from those I asked to compare as I switched back and forth between these and the G-Pro seemed very similar and both had good clarity. I would recommend these to somebody wanting a solid headset at a price that won't break the bank. If somebody had more than just the PS4 to play games on, I would recommend the Rig 500 Pro over these due to the universal connection. The "Game Audio Dial" is kind of a neat option, but it comes at the expense of making these system specific, which I feel is a poor trade-off.

Come on Plantronics, What happened! I'm not hard of hearing and I can barely hear TV shows or background noises in my game on max volume!! The 3.5mm jack just made for xbox or ps4 should have made it detachable, otherwise it's just awkward (poor design). Outside of audio issues the comfort and feel is really nice lightweight, love the boom mic no problem with players hearing me. I would bet there more expensive headphones don't have audio issues, who knows maybe I'll try a pair because I do love the feel of these. Stay tuned and hope this helps your decision to spend your hard earned money.

They broke before 1 year, i can only hear out of one side and the mic stop working.

It was a gift but it came broken and they had to return it...

Waste of your money do not buy absolute junk mic quits working

I'm not a pro gamer or someone who plays a ton online where I have to communicate with other but these are a very good headset. Very comfortable, sits snug on head but breathable and non intrusive. The mic sounds nice and clear. Earpieces sound great and the volume control knob at the 3.5mm adapter is very convenient.

Mic broke after about 1 week of use. Very fragile when you flip to mute.

Microphone was choppy and broke after one month. Will be returning and trying again.

Ive used these on my PS4 for a few days now and have to say that they are very nice. The sound is very good, and the microphone seems to work well, no complaints, I seem to be heard just fine. Easy to use, but I just have to get used to the wired set up after using wireless headphones in other devices for so long. Im not a huge gamer but just play aon occaision and wanted a good headphone set, these are just the ticket. Now my kids they're on the PS4 all the time and have also tried these headphones and have told me they really like them and they are more of an expert that I am. So if the kids like them they must be good, LOL! All in all I am pleased with them and would recommend them for anyone who wants quality sound while on their PS4.

Over priced for the quality. Broke within a month. Horrible.

Comfortable headset with great sound. It is labeled as PS4, but it can be used with a PC as well. Microphone picks up well without picking up a lot of background noise. Definitely worth the purchase if you play a lot of online games.
