The RIG 900 Pro HX headphones are probably the most comfortable, lightweight, and feature rich headphones that I have every used. I am not sure how they made these so light and strong at the same time. The lightweight headband can be bent and twisted and goes right back to its original shape. Overall build quality seems top notch on these and the ear cups fit perfectly, and the leatherette material feels soft and supple. I have no issues with my glasses either and adjusting the ear cups is simple with a nice locking system. The headset weighs an incredibly low 300 grams.
Battery life has been great as well, they are rated at 50 hours and so far I have no reason to not believe that they will get that with no issues. After about 10 hours of use over a few days, the battery is only down about 15% on my unit.
So far, my experience with these is coming from a PC perspective and I have not tried on the Xbox, PS4 nor my Nintendo Switch yet. Sound has been great all around out of the box, but the RIG 900 MAX Navigator app is where you can customize the EQ settings, power off timeout, create profiles, set up the game to chat volume and much more. There is not a way to turn on (that I have figured out) the game to chat w/o using the app so when I first tried this out, I was disappointed until I read the directions and discovered the app. The bass on these things is very punchy and can get pretty loud. Gaming its perfect and when connected to my phone for music, it sounds great as well. One thing this doesn’t do is support multiple BT connections, but there is a dual mode that allows it to be connected to BT and also USB, but you will not get sound at the same time, it will just switch…so say you are playing a game and you get a call on your phone, it will switch to your phone until you are done, then it will switch back. The microphone is pretty huge, and I do wish it was a little smaller or at least bendable, but the flip to mute feature works well and I really like that as an easy way to mute. I did have to turn up the gain on the mic in the app and that helped with the volume during calls and chatting online in games.
The piano black base is one of my favorite features of this headset. It provides an easy way to just drop it in and charge it up. The rather large USB type A dongle can be plugged into the base so you can be connected and charge with the same port, however, you do have the option to put the base on a shelf, if you wanted to display it somewhere else so it is nice to have that option as well. Both the headset and the headphones have USB type C connectors as well.
There is also a Dolby Atmos app that you can download, and it will create a scan of your head and somehow create a personalized profile for the shape of your head and ears. You do have to create a Dolby ID online to take advantage of this and it appears that when you get these headphones, the account is paid for and not just a trial. I have yet to fully play around with that, but it was fun to set up the ID in the app.

Another RIG hit just need's a chat volumn button

This is my 3rd pair of RIG's they keep on improving each time. I really like how you can set the ear can's to fit your head. They have 3 different setting for them so your head doesnt have the headphone resting fully on your head. The have a ice strap band that under the plastic that streches.
The charging base is nice and small easy to make sure you have your headphones connected to charge. They connect easily to the XBOX and stay connected. The mic is nice and long and you come out clear as some mics make you sound far away or muffled. To mute the mic all you do is raise it to the up position no need to hit any buttons and on some of my other headphone i sometimes forget to hit the button and keep talking without knowing im muted. Kinda funny just talking to myself.
The headphone are made of a soft cushion that dont make my ear sweat and get hot. They are very very light wieght you almost to know you have them on at all.
You have a power button volumn and a connection button all on one side. These are Dolby witch makes the game come in so clear. You do have to set the headphones up by using your phones camera and the Dolby app. It will make you move your head to the right and then the left ans will tell you its all ready. Really simple and easy-to-use.
You have to get the Dolby app on you XBOX to use that is free and easy to pair you can log in on your phone and set it up that way. You can us thisnwith your xbox or Bluetooth devices.
Now the only bad thing about these is i wish the would make a chat volumn knob i loke to have my party chat up a little louder than the game. Also i have been getting some feed back were you hear your echo voice and when switching from part chat to game chat i have tonuse the Bluetooth connect button to switch back and forth witch isnt good.
Comfort is great
Game sound is awesome
Connection is great

COMFORT:
They are very comfortable to me (I am a female and most aren’t comfortable to me and are too big but without this headset adjusted at all it fits pretty comfortably). When it’s adjusted to be larger it fits my boyfriend as well so this is a great headset for either female or male.
SOUND:
I’m not audio/sound wizard or professional but the sound so far is very good. I’ve mainly played Fortnite br and Destiny 2 with this headset. I’m still messing around with different games to see the difference between different noises and using the volume mixer settings on Xbox One to see what sounds best. On Xbox One I’m able to press the home button, go over to System, and then to Audio to control the headset volume, adjust headset chat mixer, or mic monititoring. This headset does have the slider on the right ear so you are able on XB1 to get all your volume levels setup and then just use the volume slider on the headset ear if it’s to loud or quiet. Now that I have messed around with it a bit more I don’t find the need to go back into the audio settings on Xbox to adjust them, I have left them at a certain level that seems to be working great. However, for me I liked having all those volume control settings next to the controller but again maybe I can get used to it. Last thing is I’m messing around with trying Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for headphones since I read you can use these features with headphones that don’t have surround sound or do have it and as some say it makes a world of a difference... I’m still testing this out on Xbox One to see if they do make a difference with sound.
MIC/PARTY CHAT:
Using Xbox party chat is huge and a must for me. I use it to talk to my Husband who I play games with from different rooms as well as friends. The first day I got these, I connected to a party chat and instantly he stated it was making a humming or some sort of low pitched noise. He isn’t into tech issues or troubleshooting so this was very hard for me to fix or understand since only he heard this noise. The next day he said he doesn’t hear it at all but I’m still a bit concerned so I’ll be trying to join other people in a party to see if they hear anything not right. Update: it looks like this issue may have went away and was either related to being new, my Husbands headset, and/or me being in the Xbox insider alpha program.
MUTE FEATURE:
The other thing that may just be something I have to get used to is the mic mute method on this headset, having to pull the mic up or down is something I feel takes more time than just pressing a mute button like I’m used to but like I said maybe I’ll get used to it. My boyfriend likes the mute method that the Stinger has more than me since he has a habit of putting up his mic even with his mic not having this feature. I think this is just a preference and dependent on if you can get used to it.
OVERALL RATING:
9/10 I would recommend this headset to someone. For the price and the quality you get I don’t feel there’s a better headset you’ll find!! I hope my review helps you and if you have any.

I've owned the RIG 800 and had the chance to upgrade to the 900. Charging base works great. Battery life is amazing on both headsets. Weight is what I'd call normal. The ear pads are deep and soft without being sweaty. Earcup tension isn't overly tight and keeps the headset positioned. The audio is well balanced, voices are clear and music sounds natural, not boomy.

I had 2 pairs of RIG 800 LX headphones prior to purchasing the 900 Max HX. One of my 800 LX still works, but the battery recently died on the other, which is why I was looking for a replacement. I love those headsets, which is why I stuck with the brand and even upgraded to the better model. I haven't found any comfort or quality issues between the older version and the new one. They aren't necessarily made of high-quality materials, but they are light, comfortable, and they just work. The 900 Max HX adds Bluetooth connectivity and a base charging station over the prior 800 LX. I thought I might use these for both my Xbox and PC, but I've realized I'm only going to use them on the Xbox. The Bluetooth wasn't a necessary feature for me and has actually become an inconvenience.
the headset seems to always want to search for other sources of connection, even after I've connected to the Xbox. On occasion, it would reconnect to my PC inadvertently, so I ended up removing the bluetooth connection to my PC.
Just like my prior models, the headset is light weight. I can wear it for hours without issue. The batter lasts a long a long time so I can game without concern for a dying battery. The one time I waited too long to charge between gaming sessions, I plugged it in for 15 minutes, and it gave me another 2 hours of play time. I really like the flip to mute mic. That is a must have for me. I also own the Microsoft gaming headphones. Those they have some great features they do not have a flip-to-mute mic. The Microsoft headphones do not require any dongle to connect to the Xbox. Unfortunately, the RIG 900 MAX HX does require the use of a USB dongle to connect to the Xbox. The mic on the RIG seems to be noise isolating. My Microsoft headphones pick up all ambient background sounds from my environment, but the Rig 900 Max HX only picks up my voice.
My one complaint is that they changed how the chat and master volume sounds are adjusted and the power button.
On the RIG 800 LX, there is a dedicated master volume dial and a dedicated chat volume dial. On the RIG 900 Max, there is only a master volume dial. They included a button on the headset that temporarily switches the master volume dial into a chat volume dial. This makes it much harder to adjust chat and game volume easily. In addition, the buttons they use are flush with the headset, so they are nearly impossible to find by feel alone.
If buying a new pair of RIG 800 LX was still an option, i would take those over the 900 Max HX any day. Unfortunately, they stopped making the 800 LX and the comparable options all now seem to be missing the chat dial.
But for anyone that wants the option of connecting via Bluetooth, this model is a good choice.

Upper tier gaming headphones with decent audio

Arriving in decent if not plain packaging, I was not exactly sure what to expect from what I consider rather pricey gaming headphones.
The RIG 900 Max HX headphones are custom made for Xbox and PC use. I picked them up for PC use and that is what this review will focus on: PC use running Windows 11.
My mainstay gaming headphones are HyperX Wireless and my mainstay audio headphones are still a classic pair of wired Beats Detox studio cans along with a pair of Seinnhauser HD 600s. I will be using these for comparison.
Inside the box you receive the headphones, docking base, USB dongle, USB cable, stickers and pamphlets.
Initial impression: I thought they were not of great quality but upon closer inspection you can see quite a bit of care went into the design of these headphones. They have a very strong lightweight frame and the adjustment and wear system is one I've never seen or used before as you are basically snapping in each cup in one of three positions and a connected, elastic band stretches to fit on your head for a secure fit. I found the headphones incredibly light and comfortable. They do not move when playing and I was able to play for hours in complete comfort. Compared to my HyperX headphones which are known for their long playing time comfort, I would say the RIG headphones are very comparable but just a touch less comfortable which is still high praise. They are more comfortable than every other set I've tried except the HyperX.
Connecting to my Windows 11 PC was as easy as could be. Once you select "PC" on the USB dongle and pop it in, it is immediately recognized as "Xbox Controller" by your PC. One thing I must note and I like is that when you turn off your headphones or they time out and auto turn off, the USB dongle also powers down and disconnects from the PC. Most USB dongle based headphones keep the dongle powered on even if the headphones are powered down and this can shorten its life as I've had several pairs of lesser wireless headphones start to fail because the USB dongle starts to fail as it continues to stay powered on regardless of whether you are using your headphones or not.
You can use them straight away and this is what I did for awhile to get a feel for them listening to various music tracks and watching some Youtube videos and a few snippets of movies. They are good but once you download and install Dolby Atmos from the Microsoft store they go from being good to great.
The headphones are immediately recognized by the Dolby Atmos app and pre-licensed so if you don't have the $15 license it is no problem as it is included for free with your RIG headphones. All comparative testing is with Dolby Atmos enabled as that is how the headphones are truly designed to work.
For the audiophiles out there, I use four specific tracks to target and test the lows, mids and highs. These are Kitaro's "Caravansary" (Highs, mids and lows balanced mix), The Spinner's "The Rubberband Man" (mids for the string "twang" clarity), Yu Ya Huang's "3AM" (highs) and Lil Wayne's "6x9" (lows). I used the music preset for Dolby Atmos for all testing.
The RIG headphones passed all the tests. Were they as good as a set of mid or upper end Seinnhauser or good as the bass thumping of my Detox cans? No, but they were more than passable for casual listening as everything had decent seperation along with decent bass "thump" and good highs. They passed the Yu Ya Huang "3AM" treble smasher test which is setting the volume to greater than 65% volume. Many lesser pairs of headphones will distort badly on some of the extreme high parts. They were able to handle the low "thump" of Lil Wayne's "6x9" admirably but they did lack that next level punch the Beats can deliver on all levels even through the mids for richness and bass. I loved hearing the great mids of The Spinner's "The Rubberband Man" as the rubberband twang sounds were clear and distinct and not muddled. This all comes together in Kitaro's "Caranvansary" which is a great complement of all three and provided a lovely listening experience that was more than passable for the casual audiophile. These are not for Bass lovers or true audiophiles but for the vast majority they are more than passable.
As decent as these are for music, gaming is truly where they shine. I used the Dolby Atmos Game preset for all testing.
I went through several pairs of gaming headphones before deciding on my HyperX Wireless over a year ago due to not only their extreme comfort but well balanced soundscape that seemed to tailor specifically to games revealing sounds not heard on many lesser gaming headphones. The RIG headphones elevate that to another level in seperation and bringing forth little nuanced sounds I never realized were in the games I routinely play which are Fallout 76 and World of Warcraft (current Xpac is Dragonflight).
I quickly found myself going through my daily events, quests and activities stopping to marvel at new sounds I never heard before. From subtle objects in the wind to new spatial enemy sounds to even the clank of armor and rustling of grass being more defined and pronounced. Everything was just more front and center and engrossing. I even loaded up Starfield to replay the first few hours to compare and the sound enhancements are nothing short of breathtaking compared to my HyperX. In short, they are impressive for gaming....very impressive.
I'm not a huge fan of the dock charging connector as sometimes it doesn't take when seating them and you'll have to move them around a bit from time to time to get them to connect and get the light to blink for charging. Luckily, they also come with a direct USB-C connector on the headphones which is greatly appreciated. I do use the dock for charging as it is easier to just slap and wiggle them a little and have them charging than fishing for the cable to plug in.
So in the end, are they worth $250? Depends on your budget and what you expect out of a pair of gaming headphones. If you truly want an upper tier pair of lightweight gaming headphones with good audio playback and great gaming with Dolby Atmos support to boot you get what you pay for and in this case you will not be disappointed with the RIG 900 MAX HX for PC gaming but if budget is a concern you will need to look elsewhere as these are not inexpensive.
As for myself, I will continue to use them and for now, I have officially replaced my HyperX Wireless.
Recommended.

I bought the RIG 900 MAX HX about a week ago and am really happy, its better then my old A40.
Pros:
Fit - the ear pads are really comfortable
Charging Dock - My wife likes that the headphone isn’t just lying around
Dolby Atmos - The new personalization feature really helps expand the audio. Rig 900 is the only one with this feature.
Microphone - I like that moving the mic up mutes it and it tells me so
Battery - I have played at least 25 hours and the battery is still going
Volume - the volume wheel is really large - makes it easier to find since you can’t see it.
Cons:
Charing - the wire is way too short for me (frustrating to have to find another)
No comment: haven’t tried bluetooth to phone

I have had a lot of ups and downs so far with the RIG 900 Max HX. It has impressive battery life, is extremely comfortable even for my very large head, and the sound quality is excellent especially considering the smaller 40mm size of the drivers. The flip to mute mic is crisp and clear, and it is well built with a nice metal headband and dual material ear cups for better comfort and sound deadening. I really like the higher end RIG headset design with the magnetic recharge base that doubles as the wireless transmitter when you plug the dongle into it. It makes keeping it stored and charged incredibly easy and convenient. Because the dongle is technically a separate piece you can keep the charging base in a different location if you need to and plug the dongle into the console or PC directly. Both the headset and the base are USB-C as well so finally the modern connection is here. The dongle and the cable for plugging in the base are USB-A for connecting to the other side. I have already played with this headset for over a dozen hours and have found that it is very comfortable for long sessions and never had any issues with battery life. When I first plugged the base station in, I charged the headset and began using it. It sounded great right out of the box and everything was working as intended. Since that first day however I have had several issues with it that I have been unable to resolve making me wonder if I either have a defective headset or it’s just not ready for prime time. Now, every time I turn on my Xbox Series X the headset will begin to lose connection with the transmitter over and over again. It will disconnect, state that it is searching, reconnect, and repeat constantly without ever stopping. I unplug the base, power cycle the headset, and nothing will stop the constant connection breaking until I actually restart my Xbox. The RIG 800 HX that these are replacing never did such a thing in over a year of ownership so it can’t possibly be my Xbox causing it. Even after restarting the console, it will stop disconnecting but will still start to suffer sound quality issues instead. It’s baffling. If it weren’t for the problems I’ve been having with it, I’d have recommended this headset to everyone since on paper and for my first day using it it seemed just about perfect. It even has Bluetooth for taking phone calls while you play. Maybe I’ll eventually be able to troubleshoot it more and get things working right but as it stands I am very disappointed and frustrated with it feel like there are better options out there.

Hi Josh, Thank you for the thorough review. Sounds like things started off well. Have you tried using the 900 Max on a PC to see if you have the same issue? This would help isolate the headset from host device to make 100% sure it's not the Xbox. Given how new this product is, and the early promise you saw, we sure hope you have Best Buy replace it for you and give us a second try. Beyond Best Buy return policy, you are covered by our Nacon 1 year manufacturer's warranty. And Nacon Customer Support is available to assist via email at [email protected] or via phone 1-833-622-6687. Thank you for choosing RIG gaming audio from Nacon...

I am happy with the sound quality (after using phone app to tweak equalizers), connectivity, weigh, comfort and convenience features, but the mic is pretty much useless garbage if you have a fan on or any other background sounds for that matter. At the price I paid (50% off sale) they are definitively worth the money. However, these would be a rip off at full MSRP. Which I find a little disappointing because I've used wired Plantronics and RIG equipment in the past that were great all around.

Now, ive owned many, many headsets over the years. Turtle Beach, Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries. Ive been really happy with SteelSeries in recent years, but decided to give these new RIGs a try, upgrading from the SteelSeries Arctis 9x's. Overall, the headset is amazing. Feature packed. It connects quickly and automatically. Sound is great, full, crisp and loud with good low end. The base is an awesome addition, drops in and charges perfectly 100% of the time with no fuss. The flip to mute mic is great. The headset is actually super light and comfortable, earpads are a nice material and dont get too hot. The only small issue i have is infrequent disconnects from my console, though it immediately reconnects. Just a weird bug. I would also recommend turning off the voice prompts in the app, they can get a little obnoxious. Overall i would recommend these, especially if they are on sale. If my budget were different i would have sprung for the SS Nova Pro Wireless. But im happy with these.

So, let me spill the tea on these gaming headphones for the Xbox Series X - they're legit amazing! The sound quality is next level, like, you can literally hear every footstep and explosion. And guess what? They've got Dolby Atmos integration that takes the whole gaming experience up a notch. It's like surround sound on steroids. Now, I won't lie, they're a smidge tight on the head, but once you settle in, it's game on. They're surprisingly comfy for those marathon gaming sessions. So, if you're looking to level up your Xbox game, these headphones are the real deal – great sound, cool Dolby Atmos vibes, and just snug enough to keep you in the zone for those all-night gaming binges.

RIG headsets have always been extremely cost efficient for me and absolutely worth what you pay. The battery life on this thing is straight up dark magic, meaning I use it frequently and charge it maybe once every 3-6 weeks…
How did they do that?
And of course the charger stand that you sit the headset in is much more aesthetically pleasing compared to those cords.
Overall very durable, comfortable, good for your wallet (opinion), and reliable!

I really enjoy this headset. It produces crisp sound, the battery life is very long, I probably can for multiple days of intense gaming/studying without having to recharge. It looks great, it feels great. The only issue I have with it is it sometimes will turn off and not turn on unless you put it on the headset charger ONLY. 4.5/5

I bought several of these. Best Buy had one and the others from another vendor. The fit is strange at first but very comfortable. The setup was very easy. I can't speak to the battery life because it would not hold a charge. I used a long USB-C cable to keep them alive while gaming. Tech support was great, we updated the firmware, ran through several resets, and finally I had to return them to the store, but the performance and sound was unmatched. My last set was the A50's until they finally died.

Great sound quality very comfortable. Just make sure you set it to duel band when you’re playing a video game so the game and chat mix doesn’t get messed up. We’ll see if the mic has been upgraded from my last rigs 600 after a while it goes bad. I will write another review.
