I've had this sustem for going on a lottle over three years, and I have had no major issues. Overall, my experience so far has been awesome. It's super easy to use. The extra features when exiting while the system is alarmed are cool; the quick exit feature is awesome. Since I leave early in the morning and my wife is still home. The response in the alarm when it goes off is instant, which is a good thing. The battery life has been great. I haven't had to replace any battieries yet. The keypad being wireless gives me easy access. Again, overall, my experience has been great for no major issues over the last three years. I had to replace 1 contact in the last 3 years, which is the only issue I've had, so I can't complain.

    Love the new keypad

I like that the Key pad is battery operated and wireless, you have the option to leave it connected at all times or just charge it and have no wires visible. The keypad has a bracket that you mount to the wall and the key pad easily slides off the bracket so you can move or just take it to charge its so easy. The keypad battery should last 6 to 12 months depending on usage and the app has a battery saver option.

    Difficult to charge

The charging port is at the stupidest angle in a narrow slot. Most of the micro USB cables you have will not fit the narrow slot. Also, why are they still using micro usb??

      Hi consumer.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The features and technology provided by the Ring Alarm are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns with how the Ring Alarm Keypad (2nd Gen) receives power. The Ring Alarm Keypad connects to power using the included USB power supply and cable, but you can use it plugged in or unplugged. It takes a few hours to charge the internal rechargeable battery, and it should last for about 7 months, depending on usage.

You can get the most out of your Keypad by understanding its Power Save Modes and how they work to maximize your device’s energy usage.

Plugged in: Current mode buttons light up when motion is detected. Numbers light up when it’s dark or motion is detected.
Battery, with power save on: Current mode buttons light up when a button is pressed.
Battery, with power save off: Current mode buttons light up when motion is detected. Numbers light up when it’s dark or motion is detected.
Follow these steps to turn on Power Save Mode:

      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap Devices.
      Select the Keypad.
Switch on the Power Save Mode toggle.
