Good Video Doorbell

Field of view is great, options to control motion detection help unwanted alerts, package detection has been wonderful, and talking to guests through the phone app has worked.

This works great!! The installation is very simple and straight forward to use. The video and audio quality is great!! Only downside is the subscription aspect but it’s not too pricey.

The Head to Toe view makes a big difference, and the clarity is noticeably better than the older Ring model we just replaced. The picture is sharp and clear, and the audio quality is very good as well. Conversations through the doorbell come through clearly on both ends. We do live on a busy street, so at first the battery life was an issue because it was constantly picking up motion. We had to adjust the motion settings and notifications to reduce unnecessary alerts. After making those adjustments, it has been more manageable, but battery life is definitely something to keep in mind if you have a lot of foot or car traffic nearby. Overall, I really like the upgraded camera quality and performance. If video clarity is important to you and you are willing to fine tune the motion settings, this is a solid upgrade.

The head to toe view is nice, quality is okay, could be a higher resolution to better read license plates or name tags. The AI in calling out a person for motion can be nice. Could have stuck with my older model from 8 years ago and bought a new battery as video quality wasn’t much different besides lack of head to toe. Otherwise it does what’s intended to do.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros - Good video quality - Comes with a wifi chime that easily connects - Notification for someone ringing and approaching the door (when amazon delivers packages) - works well with Wifi, ours is pretty close to wifi router Cons - Too expensive, $100 for the ring + $50 for the chime, and then every year you have to pay $50 more for it to save the videos it captures, otherwise there is no video history - it is a bit too big and bulky compared to nest

The only thing that made me take a star away, is that sometimes it does not record movement. It has not been a problem yet, but could potentially be one. I also think you might can tweak the settings a little to help w this problem. However, it is hard to find where you can do that! Other than that one issue, I love the ring app and the camera!

It sounds like your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro is not performing as expected. We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro functioning as intended. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done.
