I’ve been using the Ring Doorbell Camera for a few months now, and I’m really impressed with its performance. The video quality is sharp, both during the day and at night, and the motion detection works flawlessly. I love how I can see, hear, and talk to anyone at my door right from my phone — even when I’m not home.
The installation was simple, and the app is very user-friendly. Notifications are instant, and the live view feature makes it easy to check what’s happening outside anytime. The two-way audio is clear, and the built-in siren adds an extra layer of security.
What I appreciate most is the peace of mind it gives me. Whether it’s keeping an eye on deliveries or just knowing who’s at the door, it’s been a great addition to my home.
Highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to upgrade their home security system!

Sooooo I have owned many door bell cameras over the years and Ring was my first doorbell camera that I owned and it hooked me into expanding my security system.
Setup was straight forward.. Make sure you either charge the doorbell or connect it to a hardwired system and you can get the software all up and running. Good thing with ring is that it does not need another relay device to run your existing hard wired chime. It has.one built in.
I have installed sooo many door bells in front of my house that the screw and anchor pattern in my stucco can basically take any doorbell mounting pattern. But since I already had an older ring doorbell this was easy to mount with 1 exception. This doorbell did not come with a plastic base to help with wire wing nuts. So I had to improvise a bit since I got rid of my other ring systems.
This new doorbell has better features than previous years. This generation has better low light color camera vision. The image quality is better and the AI behind detection has improved. The other good feature is that you have a community based network to post things happening to warn others of incidents etc.
The only downside ring is the subscription fee.
If you are ok with the fee and you like simplicity then this is the doorbell form you.
Good job Ring. You have improved from when I last owned one of your products. With that in mind and from what I have tested and know of other products I would recommend this product for what I have stated above.

The camera has a clear picture and a great range as I can see the cars on the roadway 250 feet away. The battery has a very good life as I charged it out of the box to ensure it was fully charged and have not charged it in 22 days. I will definitely be purchasing another doorbell to add to the other entrance.

Using the Ring Battery Doorbell (Venetian Bronze) for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with its performance. Setup was quick and easy, even without hardwiring. The battery holds a solid charge, and recharging is straightforward.

This Ring doorbell that I purchased works great. My previous one just died. The camera was broken, so I had to purchase a new one. The picture on this one is even better than my previous one. I highly recommend it. I was lost without it, until my new one was installed. Everyone should have one.

I have a couple of previous generation Ring doorbells and cosmetically, this latest version doesn’t look much different and is still appealing. It can be hardwired, but I like that it is also wireless and operates by battery since I don’t want to run wiring where I wanted it installed. The doorbell comes with everything you need to install it – doorbell, mount, screws, charging cable (but no electrical plug), and the tool needed to remove the doorbell for charging.
I’ll go ahead and say right here that I think having to remove the entire unit for charging is a very inconvenient design flaw for battery users. I much prefer the removable battery as it greatly minimizes the doorbell’s down time when you have a spare battery charged and ready to go. It’s better to be down for a few minutes than several hours or more while the doorbell recharges. Of course, one could always purchase a compatible solar charging kit, but to me, that’s only charges as well as the light it gets. If you can place the solar panel in an optimal area, then you won’t have to remove the doorbell as much for charging.
Since I already have the Ring app and Alexa devices, once the battery was fully charged, installation and syncing were pretty quick and easy. I had to drill a couple of holes to attach the wall mount, but that only took a few minutes. Scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell, follow the app prompts and you’re, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re set.
The video quality is better than previous versions in that it picks up more area and more of a person’s body. The night vision is slightly better also, but audio quality is about the same for both two-way talk and live view. A Ring cloud subscription is still needed for video recording retention though.
Now, my reason for not giving this doorbell version a higher rating. Remember that plastic removal tool that it comes with? It works great, but the doorbell can also very, very easily be removed with a paperclip, or dare I even say it…a toothpick. (Yes, we tried removing it with both). This design flaw poses a major security risk, especially when the doorbell’s primary purpose is monitoring point of entry. Ring needs to go back to the drawing board on this point. Using the previous removal tool may have taken a few minutes longer to remove the doorbell, but I’d prefer that than the mere seconds it takes with the new design. Quicker removal does not equal safety and security here.

I’ve been a Ring customer for many years now, and have found their products and ecosystem to be very reliable and affordable. This is the first time I have tried a battery powered camera, the rest of my collection are all wired. I have to say that while the overall performance of this new battery doorbell is good, it pales in comparison to the wired counterparts I have installed in other locations at my home. I installed this on a secondary entrance to my house that does not have any way to hardwire a doorbell, and it is very close to a mesh unit for my wifi. However, in spite of the nearby WiFi it regularly disconnects, and when it doesn’t have internet issues it simply misses motion entirely. I have exited my house from this particular door a few times since installing it and it has completely missed me passing right in front of it more than once. The motion sensitivity setting is even set to be at a higher level than my other cameras that never miss a beat. It just feels a lot less reliable than what I’m used to from years of experience with my other Ring devices.
Its not all bad however, as the build quality and video quality are both excellent. It feels premium and the head-to-toe video is a nice thing to have matching up with my other doorbell which is the pro model that also shares that feature. It charges with USB-C on the backside which requires removing it from the mounting plate when needed. It does not include any sort of wedge to change the angle at the install location so I had to buy an adapter separately to get the angle I needed which is also unfortunate. Setup was simple and quick and installing it including mounting my adapter was easy. You can hardwire this doorbell optionally if you have the ability to do so, and I would recommend that if you can. But for those who cannot, the battery life appears to be less than stellar as mine is at 64% after less than a week of being installed having put a full charge on it first and only having recorded half a dozen motion events in that time. Motion detection is spotty, and it can take quite a while longer to wake it up for a live view than on the wired one I have. It is overall better than other video doorbells I have used from competitors, but not as good as Ring’s own offerings from higher up on the ladder which makes sense. My own experience may be slightly skewed due to the hardwired nature of my other devices making this one feel like it’s hampered in comparison, but I also feel like there are certainly worse options out there which is why I’d still recommend this doorbell depending on your individual situation. What this proves to me is that hard wiring is still king but given no other options it’ll still do a decent job with a few drawbacks.

Brand response from Ring

Hi Josh.
Thank you for taking the time to share your response with us and other consumers. We understand how important it is for your Ring Battery Doorbell to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the battery life and connection issues you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with the device in regards to connection and battery life. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Battery Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look at or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring cameras and doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance.
You can go to Power Settings in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access Power Settings, open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard. Tap Devices. Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check. Tap Power Settings to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage." Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length."
We recommend using the Ring Solar Charger or the Ring Plug-In Adapter to assist with extending the life of the battery in your Ring Battery Doorbell. The Ring Solar Charger for Ring Battery Doorbell is a solar power source that can be mounted behind your Ring doorbell. The Ring Plug-in Adapter (2nd Generation) is designed to convert battery-powered video doorbells so they can run using line current.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
If your networking equipment hasn’t been power-cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.

Depending on your circumstances the battery doorbell may be a better fit, If you do not have a doorbell then this is where you need to be. Easy to mount and recharge when necessary, the battery is internal just FYI.
