The Ring Bridge is part of the Smart Lights line of products that strengthen your security while illuminating your home and property. The Ring Bridge is the central point for connecting all Ring Smart Lighting products. It enables smart lighting control from anywhere using the Ring app and lets Ring Smart Lighting products interact with other Ring products for enhanced security. Without the Ring Bridge, your Smart Lights function only as individual units. With a Bridge, you can control whole groups of Smart Lights and other Ring products at once and be notified via the Ring app when any light or Motion Sensor senses movement. Ring Smart Lights use a technology called "passive infrared" or PIR in order to detect motion. As a result, the effectiveness of your Smart Lights at detecting motion is dependent on the way your PIR sensors are set up. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the battery life concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are concerned about the battery life of your Ring device. While batteries in Ring Smart Lights will last for months with normal use, there are several factors that may impact battery life, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Try adjusting the following settings to get the longest battery life from your device:
Set Light Sensors to 0 or 1 so that the lights only turn on if it's very dark.
Reduce the brightness to the lowest setting.
Set Group Auto Shutoff time to 30 seconds.
For alkaline (replaceable) battery devices, we strongly recommend using name-brand batteries such as Amazon Basics, Duracell, or Energizer. Always use fresh batteries of the same brand.
To reduce motion triggers:
Only enable motion on the lights that are accurately detecting motion, and let those lead lights activate the whole group. This will extend battery life as well as reduce notifications.
Avoid pointing lights toward potential heat source or moving object. Heat sources and waving objects such as wind chimes might trigger motion.
