The main reason I got it was for the easy install. I didn't want anything running around the side pillar airbag, I'm a little paranoid. So this was super super easy to install in my tacoma. The 2nd day it didn't record, acted like a corrupt file. Ring support isn't sure what happened, but I'm in IT and know how that goes. Since then it's been fine. I bought this after someone turned left in front of me but their insurance said I was still 20% at fault. Now I'll have video if something happens again!

If I were reviewing the app, it would be 5 stars. It doesn't do a very good job of capturing the details like street signs or license plates very well when the car is moving. In parking mode, the cam was only activated when my car was actually bumped and doesn't recognize movement around your car very well. I've seen some responses from Ring saying this is just a security camera. I'm sorry but that's not good enough, maybe for a home but since this is car, it should be better. I'm going back to my Nextbase 622GW and will wait for their iQ connected dash cam.

Car Cam is a security-focused device designed to quickly alert you to event activity and start recording to let you know if there is a disturbance or break-in. You can customize motion sensitivity in the Ring App to fit your vehicle and its environment. Adjusting the sensitivity may increase or decrease the number of events that Car Cam captures. If you're solely interested in detecting disturbances inside the cabin and wish to ignore external disturbances such as heavy traffic, we recommend enabling Interior Motion Verification. This feature monitors the inside of the cabin for activity when a disturbance is detected. If motion is verified, the cameras will begin recording and send you a notification. If you are interested in any disturbance to the vehicle, both inside and outside, we recommend disabling Interior Motion Verification. When a physical disturbance is detected, the cameras will start to record, and you'll get a motion alert from the Ring App where you can watch what is happening live when your device is connected to your home wifi or LTE through the optional Ring Protect Go subscription.
Ring Car Cam offers Live View, local playback quality up to 540p, Cloud Highlights, and downloaded video quality up to 1080p. Car Cam records low-quality and high-quality versions of a file. With Ring Car Cam, you may be able to see other license plates in some cases. When playing back locally stored footage or checking in on your vehicle via Live View, a low-quality version of the video is presented to allow you to quickly preview footage. If a high-quality version is desired, it can be downloaded directly from Ring Car Cam. Video download and sharing is an added feature available through the optional Ring Protect Go subscription. Currently, you can only download 20-second segments of a drive event, which are locally stored on Car Cam. Here's how to select a specific segment to download:
• Open the desired drive event (or select it on your Event Timeline).
• Select the start location of the clip.
• Click More (...) » Download » Agree & Continue » Wait for the video to process. Your video will be processed, and the Ring App will notify you when the clip is ready for download.

I love this ring dash cam for its wash access of the dash cam from anywhere in the world, I just love it I end up buying 3 for my cars

The wires were very thin and small for ease of tucking in the wires. The setup was fast with no issues. I just wish the camera had a battery built into it.

My iPhone Bluetooth found the new device/camera immediately. You can chat with car occupants from your phone with the app. Camera is good on road seeing cars but NOT plates.

So that's how long you are protected. You can't connect it to a separate battery. Then you have to make ongoing payments for the supporting service.

The sleek style & the recording is fantastic when you review it. It's a 24-hour Alarm system keeping your vehicle safe the best way you can. The difference from the others is there is no Micro-Chip inside, & if they steal it the recordings are already in the App, & can't use it in any vehicle because it's registered to your account. I'll be getting it for my other vesicles as well.

Returning CarCam - FLASHY

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.CarCam was easy to set up and use but … Returning the item - the ring light on top of camera was very bright and constantly flashes while driving - ruins your night vision There is no way I found to shut this off or dim the light Also flashes while car is parked - you can see your car from quite a distance away at night I have the gut feeling that a lot of customers won’t like the flashing ring light and will return the item

Car Cam is equipped with a circular status LED atop the device. When Car Cam is parked and in a monitoring state, the main LED ring will quickly blink blue twice every 45 seconds to communicate that a security device is onboard.

I ❤️the functionality of it and I think the image is clear enough. I work in a hospital that at times has had vehicle break-ins and I love being abke to activate the camera at any given time to see who has approached my car. I absolutely recommend it!!

Ring Dash Cam

The adhesive tape doesn’t hold well at all. It falls off the windshield after sitting in the heat of *spring* in North Carolina. The video quality isn’t the greatest but it’s fine for basic use. The cam itself is pretty sensitive as it alerts even when it’s windy or parked near a train station.

One of the best things about it, it's that there are no hanging wires accross the windshield like it happens with most dash cams. Setup is pretty easy, specially if you watch the video. I am really glad I got it!

The battery usage, however, is unworkable. I bought a brand new Diehard Platinum yesterday evening and the car cam turned itself off by ~11 am this morning. If you're expecting full motion detection coverage on a gas engine car ... not yet. As someone else mentioned, I'm placing a lot of hope in firmware updates.

Ring Car Cam is designed to always be powered on. It doesn't have a built-in battery but safely draws power from the car’s battery through the OBD-II port. Car Cam has a power management system that will turn itself off in advance of depleting the vehicle's battery. If Car Cam detects a certain low vehicle battery level, it will shut itself off when driving is complete, and you will receive a notification in the Ring app for additional vehicle battery help. Car Cam will power back up once your car turns on again and its battery is sufficiently recharged.
You can customize motion sensitivity in the Ring app to fit your vehicle and its environment. Adjusting the sensitivity may increase or decrease the number of events that Car Cam captures.

Shuts off even with a new car and battery too quickly. Doesn't stay stuck in place. Rarely comes on after SCREAMING Alexa record. Quite a delay in response time. What a waste. Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Car Cam experience with us; we appreciate it. The video clips are defaulted to show the interior-facing camera view upon opening. To change the view to the forward-facing camera, click the camera icon at the top right of the screen while playing the clip.
The Car Cam doesn't have a built-in battery, but safely draws power from the car’s battery through the OBD-II port. This allows the Car Cam to detect motion events even when the vehicle is powered off. Car Cam has a power management system that will turn itself off in advance of ever depleting the vehicle's battery. This happens after a drive, if Car Cam detects a certain battery level. In the event that happens, you will receive a notification in the Ring app. Click the notification for guidance on steps to take if this happens. Car Cam will power back up once your car turns on again and its battery recharges. To control how long Car Cam stays active between drives, you can change the Vehicle Battery Usage setting in the Ring app. This setting allows you to determine how soon Car Cam shuts off based on your driving behavior, battery age, and the environment.
