Posted .Hello Erica,
Here at Ring, we understand how critical it is for your Ring Chime Pro to work as intended. It's a key component to ensure all connected Ring devices have a strong signal, along with providing an internal audio effect through your home. We are here to lend some assistance.
Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Chime Pro extending your wifi signal. When this happens, we recommend moving your Chime Pro. The ideal placement for your Chime Pro is about halfway between your wifi router and the device it’s connected to.
Wifi extenders work best with devices that won’t be moved, and ideally, the maximum distance between the router and the device should be under 30 feet. If the distance is greater than 30 feet, you might need a different solution to a weak wifi signal, like a mesh network instead of a wifi extender. A wifi router creates a single access point that broadcasts a signal. The further the signal has to go, the weaker the signal gets.

Not fit for my purpose - returned
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not serve my purpose so I returned it. It's not an extender. I would've had to climb up to where the spotlights are and press the button on them to connect to this unit. I ended up buying another Orbi satellite for my mesh wifi, so no need to risk life and limb climbing to reset my spotlights.

Posted .Hi Lynda.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Chime Pro to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. Being able to rely on the alerts to know when there is activity at your home is an essential feature of the Ring Chime Pro. We can definitely provide you with more information on the concerns mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not operating as expected. The Ring Chime Pro (2nd Generation) is the updated version of the Ring Chime Pro (1st Generation) wifi extender. It features a new design, built-in nightlight, dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi connectivity, and guided feedback during setup that helps you find the best location for your Ring Chime Pro. In addition to being a wifi extender for Ring devices, the Ring Chime Pro also provides audio alerts for you Ring devices.
There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance.
It's easy to connect a new Ring device to a Chime Pro after you've set up the Chime Pro in the Ring app. If your new Ring Device has already been installed on your Ring app:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the three lines on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Select your Chime Pro.
On the Chime Pro screen tap Chime Pro Network.
Tap the device you want to connect.
You can also Switch to Home WiF via this screen.
If you're setting up a new Ring device and you have a Chime Pro installed you'll be asked if you want to connect to the Chime Pro Network during the set up process. If you select yes, then follow the set up flow in the Ring app. You can always switch to your home wifi network at another time.
The Ring Chime Pro only works with Ring devices and works best with one device that stays in the same location. Ideally, the Chime Pro will be about halfway between the Ring device and your wifi router. The maximum length between your router and the device should be about 20 feet.
Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.
Thank you,

Posted .Hello Curly,
We understand how important it is to experience a reliable connection to your home security devices. The Ring Chime Pro is intended to help better your connection to Ring doorbells and cameras. With proper placement and the Chime Pro Network, you should notice a significant difference. Our team is here to ensure that is the case.
Placement of your Chime Pro is key. For the initial setup of the Chime Pro, place it within a 20 feet radius of your router to ensure a successful setup. Once the unit is set up, move your Chime Pro halfway between the router and the Ring device.
If your Chime Pro has trouble re-connecting, then it might be due to interference. Some things that can cause interference include (but are not limited to):
* Materials such as stucco, brick, or concrete.
* House appliances such as microwaves.
* Electronic devices such as televisions, game systems, or wifi enabled devices.
To ensure the best performance, please test a few different locations. You’ll find that one area provides the best performance. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are eager to address the issue you raised in your review and provide you with a resolution today.

Posted .Hi Mule1031,
We know how important it is to be able to enjoy the added benefits of a wireless Chime. Once setup, Ring Chime will allow you to amplify Ring alerts throughout your home. This way, you’ll always know when a visitor has stopped by.
Please ensure that you are attempting the setup on a 2.4GHz wifi signal as this device was not intended to utilize a 5GHz signal. The Ring app will guide you through the setup process so all you should need is your wifi password.
Additionally, you should try rebooting your router. Oftentimes routers can benefit from a routine power cycle as they process a lot of data. You should only have to power down the router for about a minute.
We are confident we’ll find a solution together. For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/.

Caitlin with Ring
