Impossible to set up

Posted .Hi technerd2020.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Chime right away. Being able to get your device online so you can rely on the Ring Chime Pro for notifications and to extend wifi to other Ring devices is imperative to your device working properly. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can get your device set up and working as intended.
It sounds like you are running into some trouble getting your Ring Chime Pro set up. If your Ring Chime Pro does not seem to be connecting when you’re first setting it up or is not showing any light patterns, try moving the chime to another outlet. Once a light pattern appears, it will take at least 30 seconds before the device goes into setup mode.
When you set up a Ring device for the first time and it goes into setup mode, you’ll be asked to connect to a temporary Ring network before you connect to your home wifi network. This temporary network pairs your device with the Ring app. Once you are connected to your home network, you will no longer be connected to the temporary Ring network.
If the temporary Ring network doesn’t appear or won’t connect, you can try unplugging the Chime Pro and plugging it into another nearby outlet. You can also hold down the reset button on the side of the Chime Pro for 10 seconds and release it to power cycle the Chime Pro.
The ideal placement for your Chime Pro is about halfway between your wifi router and the device it’s connected to. Wifi extenders work best with devices that won’t be moved. The maximum distance between the router and the device should be under 30 feet (ideally 20–25 feet).

Posted .Hello carolhern,
Thank you for leaving a review. Here at Ring, we understand how critical it is for your Ring Chime Pro to work as intended. It's a key component to ensure all connected Ring devices have a strong signal, along with providing an internal audio effect through your home. We are here to lend some assistance.
Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Chime Pro extending your wifi signal. When this happens, we recommend moving your Chime Pro. The ideal placement for your Chime Pro is about halfway between your wifi router and the device it’s connected to.
Wifi extenders work best with devices that won’t be moved, and ideally, the maximum distance between the router and the device should be under 30 feet. If the distance is greater than 30 feet, you might need a different solution to a weak wifi signal, like a mesh network instead of a wifi extender. A wifi router creates a single access point that broadcasts a signal. The further the signal has to go, the weaker the signal gets.

Posted .Hi tony. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on your Ring devices. The features and technology provided by the Ring Chime Pro are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the signal stregth concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not functioning as expected. A Chime Pro is a great solution if you want to extend wifi to your Ring devices. Generally, a single Chime Pro can effectively improve connectivity to your Ring devices in a two to three bedroom home, or if your devices are located close together. We recommend performing the Ring Chime Pro Placement Test to find a location where it gets a strong wifi signal from your router, and is able to extend this to your Video Doorbells and Security Cameras. Follow these steps to run the Placement Test:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Select the Chime Pro that you want to check.
Tap Chime Pro Network.
If you have one or more devices connected to Chime Pro Network, you will see an option to run Chime Pro Placement Test at the top of the list.
If you do not have any devices connected to Chime Pro Network, tap on the device in the list that you would like to connect and follow the steps in the app before continuing below.
Tap Run Placement Test.
You'll see a list of any devices connected to Chime Pro Network. If you have more than one device connected to Chime Pro Network, they will be listed in order of weakest to strongest signal.
Follow the prompts in the app to optimize your placement of Chime Pro. This may involve unplugging Chime Pro and plugging it back in to a different outlet. Once plugged in, Chime Pro will automatically reboot and your settings will be preserved.
This process can take up to 2 minutes to complete.
Repeat Chime Pro Placement Test as often as necessary until you achieve a good result.
We invite you to reach out to our Community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Chime Pro. The Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another by sharing their feedback and experiences with each other.

It sounds like you are having some trouble setting up your Ring Chime Pro. If you are not able to successfully complete a setup, try resetting your modem and/or router. To do this, follow the instructions below:
Unplug your router or model from its power supply (don't just turn it off).
If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
Wait 15-20 seconds, then plug them back in.
Wait a minute or two for the internet to be restored.
Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process.

We understand where you are coming from, as this isn't the experience we want our users to have. The Ring Chime Pro is intended to be a reliable wireless doorbell system and wifi extender. By using one, you should be able to amplify Ring notifications as well as improve your Ring device's internet connection. Rest assured, we hear your concern and are here to help.

Posted .Hi ALLY.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how important it is for your Ring Chime Pro to function consistently and reliably. The features and technology provided by the Ring Chime Pro are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely assist you with your concerns today to ensure your Ring device is performing optimally.
It sounds like your Ring Chime Pro is not functioning as intended. Chime Pro is a combination wifi extender and internal doorbell that only works with Ring devices. It works best with devices that won’t be frequently moved, like a doorbell or stationary security camera.
If you’ve had your Chime Pro for a while and it seems unresponsive, make sure that it’s connected to wifi and that the firmware (internal software) is updated. You can check both of these things in the Ring app under Device Health:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the screen to open the side menu.
Tap Devices.
Select your Chime Pro.
Tap Device Health.
If your Chime Pro is not connected to wifi, you’ll see an option to "Reconnect to Wi-Fi." If your firmware says “up to date," then you have the latest version. If your Firmware is not up to date, you may see numbers (which represent the version of firmware that you have). You may need help from Ring Support to get it updated.

Posted .Hello RING,
Thank you for bringing your set-up concerns to our attention. This isn't the experience we want our customers to have and are happy to help resolve this together.
If you haven't already, please try rebooting your router. Since your router is one of the hardest working devices in your house, it helps to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.
If the above does not resolve your concern, you can attempt a hard reset on your Chime Pro. Please hold down the setup button for 5 consecutive seconds. The light on the front may begin to flash a few times. You will know the reset is complete when the light stabilizes to solid blue and the device enters set-up mode.
It is important to us that you are able to enjoy the added benefits of your Ring Chimes. If after following the above advice you still cannot complete the setup, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/.

It's recommended to have your Chime Pro installed at about a halfway point between your wifi router and the Ring Camera or Doorbell you're connecting it to. You can also complete a Chime Pro Placement Test to find the most optimal location https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052520292-Using-Chime-Pro-Placement-Test-to-optimize-your-wifi. For any additional questions, check out the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/ to find answers from other neighbors. All the best, Ashley from Ring.
