If you are out back, in the basement, out in the garage or up in the attic, with the TV on, will you hear the bell? This chime plugs in to wherever you are when you miss the bell (garage?) So that you hear the front door bell amplified over the ? TV, Cordless drill, fan, or whatever. It is pretty important IF you want to hear the doorbell.

I have a 3 level house which the main doorbell chime is located on the main floor.I needed an extra door chime on the third level to alert me if someone rings the door bell(I may not have my cellphone with me all the time when I'm at home but this sure will alert me right away).
