Picture quality and zoom is no better than the indoor camera 2nd gen. The night vison and low light color are worse than the 2nd gen.

TLDR: Plug-in AC powered, 2K resolution, color night vision, 4 X zoom function, 2560 X 1440 resolution, 2 way Audio via speaker and microphone on camera, for indoor use. Available as black or white housing. I got this camera to mount on the wall in our home to keep tabs on the interior and to monitor our cat that likes to climb all over and use the sofa for constant naps during the day. It produces clear images and clear color. It has a wide angle of view, and the night vision with no indoor lights on is very good. I have also tried the microphone function and our cat hears us and looks toward the source of the sound but does not try to attack the camera since it is mounted high on the wall. The power cord is very long to allow plugging it into the AC outlet and mounting the camera where it is wanted. Many might say too long but it is easily bundled up and secured easily hidden for neatness. The camera utilizes both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz WiFi routers which is good to see since all new routers use 5 GHz as default. The app works almost quickly in producing the live image. Motion detection is much better on this new model compared to an older Ring camera we also have; it produces fewer false notifications and has clearer image resolution. You can set it to trigger on Cars, a Person, Any Motions or combinations of these. It includes a simple plastic cover "shroud" that sort of clips onto the housing and covers the lens; the microphone has to be turned off to ensure there is complete privacy when using the plastic “shroud”. The unit itself is small so is easily used anywhere and most people wont even notice it if it is in a cabinet or shelf unit with other things. Good kit

I was excited about this camera, I ripped the zip top off and everything was neatly packed inside. It has two pull tabs that let you pull out all the contents at once. Inside the box there’s a wall mounting kit neatly packaged in a paper packet, a sticker letting your neighbors know not to mess with you now that you own a Ring camera, a charging cable, a USB block, and a plate that locks the camera in place. It doesn’t come with a physical manual, just a QR code. Once I scanned it and started the setup process, I found out that the plate is actually a privacy cover. I installed it and the app lets you know that it only muffles the sound, so if you want complete privacy you still need to disable audio. Setup was simple. It asked me to allow Bluetooth and then prompted me to enter my home Wi-Fi password. After a quick update, it was already added to my Ring account within minutes. The picture is clear, the sound is amazing, the field of view is wide, and the night vision is clear as well. You do have to pay for extra features, but it’s well worth it in my opinion, mostly because of how good the app is. There are a few functionality issues here and there, but the sharing aspect is what really gets me. Being able to connect with neighbors, keep some anonymity, and still help keep the neighborhood safe is what makes this piece of gear worth it. Highly recommend this little indoor camera.

I received this product to try and this is our first indoor Ring cam and it is good. We have had an outdoor Ring floodlight wired cam Pro for a few years and like it very much. I do pay for the subscription for that but I don’t really want to pay for another subscription to keep my videos for this Indoor Cam – so we won’t be doing that. It is packaged very well in a little box that just fits the pieces – no waste! The camera and hardware are fitted very nicely in the little box and the price point is good for this camera. The setup was easy as well and I just added it to my Ring app by using the QR code. Usually, I have it sitting on top of my fireplace to watch the cat for the most part but it also covers the garage door and patio door. We have also used it in our bedroom when we had a contractor in last week… good timing!! I was able to watch when I wanted to – just to check in! The video quality is very good even in the evening/night when we aren’t home. The length of the power cord it ok to good to set it where I need it. I can adjust most features using my app just like I can for the garage cam – which is a nice plus. Another nice feature is that is comes with a shutter that you can use to cover the camera when you or other people don’t want to be watched! The “son” appreciates that 😉 The video quality is very good and night vision part is helpful as well. I/we feel it is another good Ring product and would recommend – however, not paying for subscription would be my only negative.

The primary selling point of this device is just stupidly easy it is to use and set up. Great integration with the Ring app will have you setting the camera up in a minute, and the software will walk you through things like Privacy Zones if you choose to set them up. On top of how easy the camera is to use and access, it's a pretty good security camera for the money. Images are sharp and clear without being too dark. Low-light enhancement could use a little tweaking (images look a little washed out when color enhanced), but both daytime and night sight modes function really well and deliver crisp, reliable footage. You won't have any trouble making out what's in the video. Motion alerts and triggers also work really well. The camera and software are pretty accurate at picking up legitimate motion (no ghosts setting off motion alerts like on other brands) and pretty quick to announce as much to your phone. If you really need to monitor an area in your home pretty closely, you'll be happy with the motion alert features. The privacy shutter is nice, but kind of superfluous. Still, better to have it I guess... The camera mount makes physical setup a breeze, too, and provides great flexibility with how you can position the device. The Ring software enables you to monitor your device's live feed, and has some pretty responsive microphone controls that enable you to yell at your pets when needed. The software integration and functionality is a really strong feature of the camera, and is easy for the tech phobic to use if you want to give something like this to your parents. Getting the most out of the device requires a paid subscription, of course, but that's true of most competitors and the prices of plans are comparable to others as well. Given the good quality and ease of use, this camera will make the subscription seem worth the money. All in all, an easy recommendation. Well worth the money.

If you are already a Ring customer adding at least one of these to your system should be a no-brainer. Personally, after trying this thing out I decided to grab three more given how easy they were to set up and the quality of the sound/video it captured is stellar at this price-point. And that isn't just for security purposes. Example; our family found it was sometimes quicker and performed better to jump on the Ring and use it like a walkie-talkie. Yes, they have a push-to-talk business feature, but we use the regular dashboard, super handy. I set up a zone in our laundry room that our kid uses 99% more than anyone else. Once that notification comes across I know my kid is there getting her gear together for practice. Whereas I used to call her distracting her from homework, getting ready, etc, now I know 100% that she's only getting ready for practice and I won't be interrupting her studied. But, she also doesn't have to stop doing anything she's doing, she can just start talking and go about her business. We have our little update chat and off we go about our day. It's awesome and we use it just about every single day. Plan on setting up similar zones on the other cams along with just using them as they're intended to be used; home security and all that jazz. No brainer purchase if you're already in their ecosystem. Their plans are reasonably priced and they work flawlessly.

That's an upgrade from the older model but it is still lacking a lot... - Subscription is required to allow recording and saving video history... Without subscription, only limited features are available. - As mentioned above, about subscription: no local storage is available. Camera depends a lot on your WiFi connection. - Limited to Amazon/Alexa ecosystem. Not very open for other platforms. - I believe Ring was really able to make it smaller. On the other hand: - The video quality: Retinal 2K is amazing. Very clear recording. A good improvement when compared with the old 1080p cameras. With this camera, it is easier to identify objects, faces and small details while zooming. Even under low light conditions. - At almost near dark condition, this Ring Indoor cam is still capable of providing full color video while my other older cams would just switch to black and white (IR boost). - I like the way you can disable the cam by covering the lens. That's a guaranteed privacy and easy way to shut down the cam even with no phone in hands. - Zooming is ok. Allowing 4x zoom (enhanced) is possible thanks to the 2K resolution without losing details. - 2 way talk is good. There is no significant delay. Also the Siren feature is good to have. Good noise cancellation overall. It is good to have a Ring if you are also using Amazon/Alexa. It is a good addition to your system. I have already installed different brand cams. They are playing ok with Ring. It is good to buy if you are looking for a good 2-way communication device with high resolution camera and clear audio. Privacy shutter is also good.
