I purchased this to use as a sort of baby monitor for my toddler when it was time for the crib to go and hopping out of bed became an option. It connects to the Ring app so you can watch from wherever you are, and it notifies you when there is movement. You can close the cover to turn it off and just open it up to start it back up again, so I never feel weird about it being there when it's not needed. You don't have to just trust that it's off and no one can watch. (Maybe that's a me thing, but it gives me peace of mind.) Another nice feature is the ability to share with other Ring users. It's great for me because when I'm at work, I can peek in at the aforementioned toddler periodically, and so can whoever's home if they want to check or if there is movement. You can also see when someone else has viewed it live. I've heard a lot about peoples' baby monitors getting hacked, and this just seems like a safer option and is cheaper than the video monitors that actually are secure. You can also talk through it if you want.

Absolutely would not trust Amazon with any of your data, so recommend not placing in any sensitive spaces or leave privacy cover open when you are home.

They work great and sometimes use them to communicate with her. I love these and I have been recommending rings to my relatives and friends.
