This security camera works great during the day. However, its performance in the night or where there is very little light leaves much to be desired. I guess you get what you paid for.

Hi BryanW.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Indoor Cam to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Indoor Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the video quality concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds. There are severe pauses in live video. If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
4. There is a long delay before your video starts.
This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.

Camera was working great for a short period but then I’d notice it was not recording when I knew it should see me. Found out it would randomly lose power. I had to unplug it and plug it back in multiple time to get it to come on and work again. By the third time it lost power I packed it up to exchange it for another. The current one does show any problems yet but we’ll see.

I purchased this today at Best Buy, driving 4 hours through the snow round trip. I got home and wasted an hour trying to set this up and then with customer support only to be told by them that the camera is defective and to not buy products from Best Buy, to go straight to Ring’s website. No thank you, i will just stick with Nest and I love Best Buy. I Googled the wifi connection problems with Ring and apparently it is a very common and widespread problem, not just a defective camera. I will be emailing Best Buy and letting them know that Ring customer service is trying to divert customers away.

Hi HeatherG.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Indoor Cam right away. The security features and technology provided by the Ring Indoor Cam are incredibly valuable to your peace of mind, and receiving a defective device is not the experience we want any of our neighbors to encounter during the purchase process. We would love the opportunity to provide you with a concrete resolution today.
It sounds like your Ring Indoor Cam is failing to connect to your home's wifi network. Below are some common causes and ways to resolve setup failure if you're receiving a 'Setup did not complete' message and cannot finish setup:
Your Ring device is too far from your wifi router. Ideally, your router should be within 20 feet of your Ring device. Try bringing the device closer to your router during setup. There's a possible issue related to your wifi modem or router. Try rebooting your router and attempting the setup again.
If you've tried addressing the above troubleshooting steps and still cannot get your device connected, we invite you to visit our support center for additional wifi troubleshooting steps.

It sounds like your Ring Indoor Cam is failing to connect to your home's wifi network. We recommend restarting your router. If you still have issues connecting to your home wifi, try the steps below.
Make sure you're entering the correct password. Passwords are case-sensitive and do not include spaces. Your network password can often be found on the bottom or side of your router.
Make sure your password doesn't have any special characters. If your password contains characters like an asterisk (*), pound sign (#), or exclamation mark (!), remove them by changing the password in your router's settings. If you do not have access to these settings, contact your internet service provider to change the password.

Ring Indoor camera works fine but was misled by associate about video recording length, which is what I was mainly looking for. Went back and talked with manager and informed him of initial purchase and no apology or nothing. Will probably not be doing business at the Findlay, Ohio location again. Ended up purchasing a video recording device on Amazon for cheaper than the indoor camera and extra service plan for a 2nd Ring device.

It sounds like there is some concern regarding the recording abilities of the Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Generation). If your wired Ring security camera detects a motion event and you have a Ring Protect Plan, your device will record the motion for a set amount of time based on your video recording length setting.
On most Ring wired cameras, the video recording length is set to auto. The Auto setting makes your recordings smarter, enabling your camera to record when motion begins and stop recording when it stops detecting the motion. Motion can be recorded for up to 120 seconds with this setting. Visit our support center for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not operating as expected. Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) is a small, lightweight security camera with flexible mounting options specifically designed to be used indoors. Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) features 1080p HD video recording, two-way audio with noise cancellation, a wide viewing angle, and built in siren. It is also compatible with connected Echo devices, features an enhanced mounting design, a power cable/adapter, and an included removable privacy cover. A tone will sound when the cover is secured and active.
Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Generation) is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity: Your Ring device may be too far from your wifi router. Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection. Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic). If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap "Devices". Select the ring device you would like to test. Tap on the "Device Health" tile. Scroll to "Signal Strength" under the "Network" section. The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor. Move your wifi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router.
Check your mobile device's signal.
If your mobile device has one or two bars, this could be causing issues accessing your Ring device. For best results, make sure you're connected to wifi from wherever you are.
We have listed the steps below for how to check your wifi speed:
Most internet service providers range from 100–400 mbps (megabytes per second) for download speed and 10–100 mbps for uploading. We recommend testing your internet connection 15 feet from your wifi router, using websites like this one.
If your wifi speed is falling below the ranges noted above, we recommend contacting your internet service provider.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Sincerely, Melissa from Ring.

I even upgraded my internet which was not the problem, but my IT guys still could not get these cameras connected. I will be retruning back to best buy. to go with the standard cameras and dvr setup.

It sounds like your device is not connecting to your home wifi. If you're having repeated issues setting up your Ring device—like connecting to the Ring device's temporary network or your home wifi—try the steps below to troubleshoot:
Test distances. Your Ring device may be too far from your router. If your Ring device is battery-powered, or if you can move it from the mounting location, try bringing it a few feet closer to your router before setup.
Reboot your modem or router. For optimal performance, we suggest rebooting once a month.
If you are still having trouble after checking all of this out, visit our support center or contact our support team for additional troubleshooting steps.

I returned it. Did not like it at all. Picture quality was poor. Found a lot better deals on Amazon for a lot. Less price.

Camera sends constant motion alerts

Camera doesn’t integrate well with Ring security system. Nonstop alerts and you can’t setup the system to only send you the alerts when you are out and quiet the when you are home. Rings answer is to snooze the alerts thru the app multiple times a day which is time consuming and annoying for me.

Hi SuzanneA.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is for your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen) to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. Being able to customize the alerts you receive is an important feature of Ring devices. We are here today to provide you with information to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen) is giving you too many alerts when you are at home. With an active Ring Protect subscription, you have the ability to use the modes feature to control the behavior of your Ring security cameras, video doorbells, and alarm. The idea is to configure your cameras and doorbells to protect your home in different ways, depending on your current needs. For instance, if you are staying in for the night, you can set your indoor devices to 'Disarmed' and your outdoor devices to 'Home'. Your indoor movements won't trigger motion detection, while your doorbell and cameras outside will still alert you if motion is detected. Then, all of your devices, including Ring Alarm if you have one, will work as a single ecosystem with one tap of a button.
There are three different modes available to control the state of your home: disarmed, home, and away. Follow these steps to activate modes:
Tap the menu (≡). Tap Settings. Tap Enable Modes. Tap the mode you want to configure. Set how you want your devices to behave in that mode.
