We did not necessarily feel unsafe before having this, but having this extra layer of safety is very useful for those moments that you simply feel curious.

When you replace building mechanical peepholes, the mounting hole is larger than Ring peephole size and you need to find some cover.

We are happy to provide you with more information regarding the installation concern that you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to installation. The Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) can only be installed on doors that range from 1.3 - 2.2 inches (34 mm to 55 mm) in width. Do not attempt to install Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) on doors thinner or thicker than that size. The most common peepholes are simple barrel designs that are designed for easy installation. The most important characteristic to look for on a door with a barrel design is the notch on the rim of the inside portion of the peephole. That means that the peephole can be easily uninstalled to install the Peephole Cam (Door View Cam).
Follow these steps to install the Ring Peephole Cam:
1. Remove protective film from device. This ensures your device works properly.
2. Plug the battery into a USB port using the provided orange USB charging cable.
The battery is fully charged when just one LED is lit. Keep in mind that it can take a full 5 to 10 hours to fully charge a Ring battery depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or a wall outlet.
3. Continue set up in the Ring app.
4. Put the tool’s flat edge in the slots to unscrew.
5. Remove peep lens.
6. Smooth out the hole’s edges with the tool.
7. Remove cap
8. Optional: Install the large view hole adapter if needed.
9. Draw the cable out of the tube until there’s no slack.
10 .Gently pull excess cable through clip.
11. Slide peephole cover up for privacy.
