Please read my reviews for The hardwired front door Ring doorbell as well as the ring camera in my backyard and solar panel. You will note that I originally purchased an extra battery because I realized that the ring camera comes with only one (1) battery but space for two (2) batteries. I chose instead to use a solar panel to continually charge my camera and not have to worry about security breaches and down time when the batteries run out because each one takes 6 full hours to recharge. Now with the way my system is hooked up hopefully I do not have any problems and worries about ever losing camera coverage for the back. And this is why I went with the hardwired doorbell in the front so I also do not have any worries about a battery losing charge and having to be recharged especially when I'm away. It's up to you but I think after you do your research and talk to True experts you're going to come to the same decisions that I have!

I think the purchase of an extra battery is helpful and the price is fair, but the fact that you kind of need it for someone like myself and in the location we had it. Unfortunately we no longer have the doorbell do to some financial issues, but I feel that Ring products are a great investment but I wish I had a clear understanding that I would not be able to make it run from a plug or make it a plug-in type of device. Honestly there may possibly be a way but I’m not very tech savvy and don’t have the patience. Now I know it’s a doorbell not security monitor, but I used it for both because of the fact that I don’t always watch it when I’m out and about but I monitor constantly while I’m home due to my anxiety I guess or because I am use to doing surveillance while I was active duty. Well with all that I said If you have the Ring Doorbell 2 then please invest in an extra battery it’s very helpful.

I don't want to come off as one of those jerks that complain about everything. In fact I think this is the only negative review I have ever made. I bought a Ring Video Doorbell last year in December along with a Video spotlight. The product's themselves I would give 4-5 stars but the battery leaves alot to be desired. After about 6 months the battery started needing to be charged more and more frequently. As of now (not a year old yet) it dies in 4 days. I have turned off notifications and narrowed the motion zones to less than 5 feet. What gets me is I have emailed Ring 3 times with my concerns and after 3 weeks of no reply I have given up. Now the million dollar question....Should I wast my money on another battery?

When i first bought my stick up camera the battery seems to only last about 3 weeks which I was under the impression that it would last 3-6 months. After some research I found out that battery life depends on how the camera is set up (recording motion and motions alerts) this kinda makes sense, if you have it set up in a very high traffic area and want to record every little motion it detects and upload to the cloud then I would agree, you can’t expect the battery to last 6 months. setting can always be adjusted in less than 10 seconds so it should be a big deal or inconvenient for anyone.

Due to using the solar panel to change up the batteries, I found they were not charging properly due to overcast clouds and rainy days. When there were no clouds, the unit operated well, charging the batteries. The charger is needed to keep unused batteries fully charged and ready to insert into Ring products. The solar unit worked well on sunny and bright days but when the clouds set in for a few days, the charger works in superb fashion to keep powering up batteries extra batteries come in handy to keep the doorbell and security cameras up to speed.

We have 2 Ring Spotlight Cams and a Ring doorbell 2. All these devices come with this battery but the spotlight cams hold 2 each. We purchased 3 so we can double up in the spotlight cams and have one extra to cycle out as needed. Each battery comes with a USB cable for charging. We have had our devices for about 5 weeks and we are about to swap out one battery. The other 4 are over 60%. You can see the charge remaining through the device health in the Ring app's dashboard so it is convenient and easy to know when they will need to be changed and recharged. Since we have the extra we won't be down waiting for the charging time. They are very quick to change.

I recently purchased the Ring 2 Video doorbell. What a great investment. I highly recommend this unit. Upon initial setup the battery takes a few hours to charge. I decided to buy a second battery, so when the unit battery gets low i can swap it out rather than keep the doorbell inoperative until the battery recharges. I recommend all Ring 2 owners to follow this process, so there never is any downtime with the doorbell. The battery keeps a charge for 6-8 weeks normal daily use depending on the parameters set on your doorbell

Purchased Ring system and extra components. Read online extra batteries and charger very helpful. Glad I purchased as battery charge in outdoor camera lasted short time. Ring Help indicated outdoor temps affect length of charge. Cold shortens. Outdoor temp yesterday was 50 with bright sun shining on camera just installed. Started out with battery at 51% and three hours later it was at 3% with no activity in back of home. I recommend this as it is the ones the Ring equipment uses and you have to have it but very disappointed at performance in cold weather. Will add a solar panel.

I actually bought two - one to add as the second battery on my Spotlight Cam so I wouldn't have to change batteries as often, and one as a hot spare for my Video Doorbell 2. My front doorbell was running low on battery, but since I had this spare, I just plugged in the supplied USB cable, charged it overnight, and the next morning I swapped it with my doorbell's low battery. Just a few minutes of the doorbell being offline rather than a few hours if I didn't have another battery to swap out.

After installing my newly purchased battery into the Security Camera, the “Health of Device” registered the battery at 48%. It’s been steadily decreasing each day! Also, the battery that was purchased with the camera months ago needed recharging. So I bought this battery to install while I charged the original battery. Well, when I reinstalled the original battery after fully charging, it’s battery life is now depleting. WHAT KIND OF MESS IS THIS???!!

I have the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, and although it comes with one unit, the camera can utilize two for better longevity and no downtime between battery swaps. The Spotlight Camera only runs one battery down at a time, and on my backyard camera, I got two weeks of time from 100% to 20%. The camera usually records five times a day, when I let my dog outside. It takes a few hours to charge on a 10W iPad charger. The provided microUSB cable is a nice bonus.

I bought 2 of these to compliment our new “Ring” outdoor cameras. Getting these extra batteries takes the worry out of your cameras going out. One battery for each camera still lasted about a month with constant triggers due the busy road behind our house. With some adjustments to the settings I’m sure 2 batteries will last for at least 3 months or more. We are still playing around with the settings to see what works best.

An Unfortunate Accessory For Powerless Folks

My house is a remodel and as such, the main power to the doorbell was lost. So we picked up the Ring 2 since you can just go off battery packs. This is a must if that is the case for you. Charging takes a good 5-6 hours. And here in IL, I'm only getting about three weeks of use per charge. According to Ring, it's partially all the movement and partially the cold temps on the battery. Both excuses annoy me but that's another conversation.

I purchased Ring Spotlight Cam's (I didn't know you can store a 2nd battery in each camera at first). Once the cam's were installed I purchased these additional backup batteries that way I have no lapse in service. So far the batteries are long lasting and have yet to had to re-charge them. Like all batteries I am curious how long that will last before the recharge time gets worse and worse but so far these have been great.

These batteries hold their charge for around 15 days. We have our ring camera go off a lot with cars driving past and our dog in the back. We also have the camera settings on live view which drains the battery faster. I am happy with the length of time they hold the charge but I would recommend having 2 batteries per camera, especially if high traffic area that will set the camera off a lot.

For any of the 'wire - free' Ring camera having the second battery is a must for uninterrupted power. The camera only uses one battery at a time and you can monitor the battery charge level from the Ring Video app so you can remove and recharge the battery when it is low. My experience is each battery will last from 20 to 30 days depending on how much the lights come on and recording takes place.

I'm using these batteries in Spotlight cameras on medium sensitivity. Lights turn on for any event at night. We get LOTS of recorded events due to the house being relatively close to the street. But we still get a good 4-8 weeks out of each full battery charge. I know the documentation says up to 3 months or more, but being realistic about current battery technology, I'm impressed with these.

Bought 2 of these batteries. Both are used on my Ring solar powered exterior cameras. I dully charged the batteries first per instructions and later installed them in the camera along with the solar panel. Despite having rain and heavy clouds the last 2 days, one battery is at 100% and other is at 97% as of this morning. Batteries seem to work as described.

If you have an active ring, this battery will not last long. Takes about 4-5 hours to charge and when we first got ours we were excited and watching it all the time, seemed like everything was recording, our battery didn't last a month. Our second go round seems much better. Changed the settings and on week 2 with 85% left.
