I bought several Ring Pathlights to illuminate my driveway. It's a long driveway, but I finally got them all within range of the bridge. It is still not clear to me if the farthest one from the house actually detects motion or only turns on when its neighbor turns on. I had some difficulty understanding Ring Tech Support's answers to my technology questions, but now except for the question mentioned above, I understand enough to build my system There is some difficulty keeping them stand up straight on the edge of a gravel driveway. Because of the weight of the batteries the tend to lean once they are nudged a bit. I do have one problem that makes me very discontented. On one of the several that I bought the lamp turns off after about five seconds of being recommitted with its batteries. This behavior is consistent with this one pathlight and not observed with any of the others. Ring, please help. So far I have not heard anything helpful from Ring or the community. If it weren't for that, the rating would be a 4.

      Hi KenTr.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight detect motion and activate on meaningful motion events so that you can be alerted within the Ring app to any motion activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with more information on the concerns that you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you are concerned with the installation, motion detection, and device health of your Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight. We recommend installing the pathlights into the dirt ground so that the stake has support from the dirt. We have included a link here to an article on our website with useful information regarding the installation of the Ring Smart Lighting Pathlight: https://ring.com/support/articles/8xjgj/Setting-Up-and-Installing-your-Ring-Smart-Lighting-Pathlight.

One of the most powerful ways to use your Ring lights and cameras is to group them together using the Groups function in the Ring app. Grouping your Ring devices allows them to react intelligently to events that happen on your property. You can, for example, turn on all the lights on one side of the house when any single Smart Lighting device or Security Camera in that group detects motion. You can also turn on and off and control large numbers of Smart Lights without having to use them individually. It sounds like you may have the questionable light programmed to react when it's neighbor reacts. For more information on how to control your lights, please visit this link: https://ring.com/support/articles/h7qy0/Set-Up-Control-Groups-Ring-App.

For more information on adjusting the motion settings for each individual RIng Smart Lighting Pathlight, please visit this link: https://ring.com/support/articles/z0g0u/Adjusting-the-Light-and-Motion-Settings.

Have a total of 8 of these now. Works great tied to the ring bridge. Only drawback is the D batteries (4) it takes. Be cool if there was a way to tie it to a low voltage hardline. Maybe there will be in the future. For now ive bought rechargeable batteries to use.

I was really excited to get this sensor to add to my ring security system but after receiving this version I was truly underwhelmed. In order to properly use this sensor light you would need to purchase an outdated ring hub to connect this to your application. The sensor also uses type c batteries which overtime can become expensive to replace. I believe ring figured this out and on the newer versions of this pathway light those features are embedded so if you are looking for a better deal I would spend my money on the newer versions of the Ring pathway light. If you already have the hub and you don't mind the cheaper price then this may work for you.

A lot of options. Runs dim most of the night and full brightness when motion occurs. Customizable and I have a lot chained together. Doubles as landscape lighting. I really like them. Battery life is a pretty cool too.

These path lights are a great addition to my complete Ring security system (11 cameras, 4 motion & 12 other sensors, 3 key pads, Schlage door lock, Ring bridge, water and smoke/CO2 sensors, and ring pro). These lights are motion activated and work on 4 D size batteries.
