    Works better than expected

I purchased the Ring Solar Panel and a Ring Spotlight Battery camera. I charged the battery fully before mounting the camera. About a week later the camera battery was down to 23% (it's in a high traffic area). I decided I'd put up the solar panel and track the results (Very unscientifically). I checked the battery strength at various times over the next 2 1/2 days. It took a little over 48 hours for the panel to bring the battery from 23% to 100%. This included two cloudy mornings and two bright sun afternoons as well as periodic activity the camera recorded. I suspect with a full battery it should last through any extended cloudy or rainy periods. The camera can also accept a second battery pack to double time the camera can run. Mounted easily and connected to the camera easily as well. The only downside that stopped me from giving 5 stars was the mount. It was somewhat limited in where I could mount it. Overall I'd definitely recommend. The overall average in the first two days was about 3.54% charge increase per hour (during brightest sun it was over 6% per hour).

Great product - Horrible customer service

So maybe one star is harsh - but the customer service experience is that bad. The product is good and I have slow internet and it still is good. Instructions are easy, easy instal, etc. I was missing a small plastic piece to keep a connector from the solar panel plugged into the camera. It is probably a 50 cent piece. I used chat service online and about an hour into the chat (horrible interface, you don’t know if they are responding or not then the message appears) learned they only help people after 30 days of service. Well let’s just say I had it 31 days and you help me! I had already installed and didn’t want to take off roof! Just mail me a piece. Worked a deal out they will mail me a complete package and I will install the new panel (they said they wanted old one back) and I will mail whole box back. Just crazy. A lot of onus on the customer and the service reps to deal with a crappy platform. This company needs to change its customer service!!!!!

Please read my reviews under the hardwired ring doorbell as well as the ring Camera because all of the information cross-references. I purchased this charging solar panel so that I only have to use the one battery that comes with my camera and I don't have to worry about downtime and security breaches with having the battery run out of charge which then takes a full 6 hours to recharge! With the solar panel I have my One (1) battery that came with my camera installed even though there is space for two (2) batteries only one is needed and this solar panel is supposed to continue to keep the charge up to the correct level of operation for the camera. The solar panel comes with quite a long cord that does attached directly to the back of the camera so it doesn't have to be mounted right nearby even though I chose mine to be that way and have it angled hopefully for the best Sun range.

The box I picked up said Spotlight Cam Only! but it works for the stick up cam too like this description says. Maybe this was released before the stick up cam existed and this is an older box. Works great, the only thing is the screws that came with it are garbage. I mounted on the eave of my house and the screw heads twisted right off. So I'd make a quick stop by a hardware store and get some #6 wood screws. I had some flat #6 1/2" length laying around and they did the job perfectly. Almost like it was designed for them and not the tiny black screws it came with. Maybe those are just meant to be used with the anchors, but the manual seemed to suggest they'd work for wood too.

this solar panel is a nice addition to your ring spotlight battery powered camera. The installation couldn't be more simple. No need to add this to your ring app. The cable to connect this to your spotlight cam is around 9-10 feet. Just install it wherever the sun hits your house and plug the wire to the back of your spotlight cam and you're all done. When you look at the spotlight Cam's device settings in the ring app, it doesn't show you that the batteries are charging BUT they are charging, so no worries. Give it a day and you'll notice that your battery percentage will go up, and it will continue to do so until it's fully charged. This product saves me a lot of time from using the ladder just to take the battery out, recharge it for 9+ hours and climb back up to reinstall. Nowadays, it stays charged just like the wired version. I recommend this to anyone with ring battery powered spotlight cams

I wanted to add some security to my home in my yard. I already have the ring floodlight and love the Ring ecosystem and community. I saw this combo on sale during Black Friday and decided to purchase it with a solar panel. Installation was quick and picture quality is great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because sometimes I can't connect to my spotlight through the app. This is probably due to it's proximity from the access point of my wifi mesh network. Still annoying but I would but it again. The solar panel was wonderful. It keeps the batteries charged even in Chicago winters where sun is a limited commodity.

Great buy for anyone needing to put a camera in a location that would be hard to do a wire install. I thought about buying a 2nd battery but decided to purchase the solar panel for $20 dollars more than the battery. Definitely worth not having to take it apart and charge it! I have one battery in my cam and it was down to 18% battery life when I installed the solar panel. Within 2 days it was at 100%. I have it on the side of my house where it gets 3-4 hours of sun everyday when the sun sets and has stayed fully charged. I highly recommend this panel in lieu of additional batteries! Great product for the price!

Received the solar panel in the mail, was a little heavier than I would have expected. Installed easily onto the side of our stucco exterior using provided hardware. Plugged it into existing Ring spotlight camera in the front yard, and it immediately began charging. Camera was about 60% charged, and it took most of the day to charge to 100%. Now it keeps the camera at 97-100% all the time. Of course we live in an area that gets 350+ days of sunshine a year. Will be purchasing another for the backyard camera. So much nicer than manually charging the batteries, especially since our homes are seasonal.

Before purchasing this, I logged how many days my Ring Spotlight would last after I initially installed it. Counted 37 days before it was completely drained. Thought to myself, I would have to go up and change this about 10 times a year. Divide that by roughly $50 (the cost of this solar panel) and that's about $5 each charge. Takes about five minutes for me to remove and reinstall the battery and another 5-6 hours to charge. Is $5 worth my time and effort (not to mention electricity)? Heck yeah it is!

Solar Charger is a Another Great thing to buy with the Cams. The battery will always be charged at 100% so no need to worry about getting on a ladder to remove the battery to get it charged and then going back on the ladder to put the battery back even if it’s doing it twice a year. Once you install it you forget about charging the batteries ever again, the Sun will take care of keeping it charged at 100% all the time. The length of the cable that connects to the back of the Cam is 13 feet long.

I purchased this because my Ring Floodlight needed it's battery charged frequently. This required me to get the ladder out of the garage, lean it up against the house, climb up the ladder, take down the unit, remove the battery and then plug it in for charging. Of course once charged, which took several hours, I had to climb back up the latter to remount the unit. Now with the solar panel, I no longer have to climb up a ladder to take down the Ring unit in order to charge the battery. The solar panel does all the work for me. It's very convenient.

After my generic solar charger died within 2 months I decided to buy the Ring's charger. When I went to mount the charger it only had tilt abilities in one direction (up and down) it doesn't have the ability to tilt side to side. Of course my only option of where to mount it needed the ability to move it side to side to catch any light. I ended buying extra parts at Lowes to be able to do this. Other then the limited amount of swivel it has done the job of keeping my Ring charged.

The solar panel is great, when it works! So, I have one installed on one side of the house, and I haven't had to re-charge batteries yet (a month or so after installation). The second panel did not properly charge the battery, and I have had to re-charge batteries about 2 weeks after installation. I am not sure if the second panel need relocation, or if the batteries are not being properly charged. Overall, I do like the product.

I was concerned about two things when I bought this and I couldn't get the answers from anyone. 1. Would it charge two batteries in my ring camera? 2. Would it get enough sunlight to do the job? Turns out it does charge both batteries, though you need to charge the batteries to full before you install them in the camera. And it just needs an hour of sunlight a day. Whew! Ring lets me monitor the battery charge and I've been good even in cloudy winter weather.

Best Investment for Ring Wireless Cameras

Just bite the bullet and invest in the solar panels if you purchased the Ring Wireless Cameras. It beats changing or charging the batteries every 3 - 5 days. The solar panels are sturdy and are easy to install. They can be tilted or configured to point to the sunlight. They charge your cameras when the camera battery level reaches a threshold (I believe it is 10-15%). On a clear day, it fully charges them within 3 - 4 hours.

This is a great addition to the wireless systems as you never have to recharge the battery. It allows mounting options in places where recharging a battery would be a pain. The cable is long enough to mount the solar panel some distance from the camera mounting location, but I ended up having to coil the extra wires around the mounting bracket. I wish the cable was more customizable, but that is being super picky and shows I'm a bit OCD.

I needed to have a an attachment to help me to reduce the amount of times that I have to change my batteries I found that the more that I have looked into my live viewing the faster my battery died. With the solar panel it brings down the amount of times that I need to worry about my battery is being drained as result as long as there is sunlight it recharges my batteries in excellent I need a device for any ring security system.

Hooked it up to my Ring camera that was at 34%. Installed it facing the sun. In 5 over cast days the battery was 100%. Keeps the single battery fully charged, and not had to buy the 2nd battery or worry about having to charge the current battery this chargers it for me so I don’t even have to worry or think about it and able to put my camera where there was no power and don’t have to worry about it.

I have this installed, and pointed directly at the sun. It fails in keeping my camera charged. it is supposed to operate on a couple hours of sun a day, however I have had sunlight for a full day, and still only gotten about 3% battery charge.I live in Wisconsin, and we do not get sunlight every day in the winter, so I'm sure this has some bearing on things, however we have been getting enough sun that it should be working better than this
