Dissatisfied
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 4 spotlight cams and one doorbell camera last year. The motion sensors are horrible. Cars parked in front of my house don't register, people come to my front door, and I have no idea they're there. No notifications, no doorbell sound. Then I get a missed doorbell message on the app. Plus the clarity of the video is terrible. I am very disappointed with this product.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how important it is for your Ring Spotlight Cam Plus to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus was designed to activate based on your specific needs. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can find the correct settings for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device is not detecting the motion you are wanting it to. The positioning of your device will have a large impact on motion detection. Your camera can be mounted on an outdoor wall, eave, or overhang. For optimal motion detection, mount the camera about 3 feet (1 meter) from the middle of the entry point and about 10 feet (3 meters) above the ground. Once you've ensured your device is positioned properly, you can customize your motion zones by following these steps:
To set up your motion zones:
Open the Ring app.
Tap on menu (☰).
Tap on Devices.
Tap on your cam.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap the Edit Motion Zones.
Set your zones and motion range to your preferred area(s).
Tap Done.
Tap Save.
You can test your settings by walking in front of the camera to activate it and trigger an alert. Visit our support center if additional information is needed.

Posted .Hi RobertL.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is for your Ring Spotlight Cam Plus to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. Consistent and dependable motion alerts are an essential feature for the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus to function properly. This is likely the reason you purchased this security device in the first place: to be alerted to movement on your property. We want to work with you to make sure we get your device set up for optimal motion detection in your environment.
It sounds like you have some concerns regarding the motion detection of your device. For optimal motion detection, your device should be installed about 10 feet (3 meters) above the ground. When your device is mounted too low, it reduces your optical motion zone. This can result in approaching visitors not being detected as motion or only capturing a partial image when the sensors are triggered.
Once you've confirmed your device is mounted at the optimal height, you will want to check your motion zones. Follow these steps to set up your motion zones:
Open the Ring app.
Tap on the menu (☰).
Tap on Devices.
Tap on your camera.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap the Edit Motion Zones.
Set your zones and motion range to your preferred area(s).
Tap Done.
Tap Save.
You should now begin to receive motion alerts for activity in your designated zone. You can test your settings by walking in front of the camera to activate it and trigger an alert. Visit our support center for more information.

Posted .Hi Jbm27.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We understand how critical it is to be able to monitor the comings and goings of your home while the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus stays connected to your home’s wifi network properly. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like your device has a poor wifi connection where it is mounted. We recommend doing a traveling signal test to discover where your signal is losing strength between your router and your Ring device. Before you begin the test, remove your Ring device from its normal location and bring it close to your router in order to minimize any interference from your home's architecture or distance.
To run a traveling signal strength test:
Open the Ring app.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera.
Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
Walk slowly through your home, carrying both the Ring device and smart device, examining the video as you move toward the location where your Ring device is normally mounted. Note the quality of the video as you move through the space.
Depending on how far your router is from the location where your Ring device is usually mounted, you may notice differences in your video quality as you move away from the router. This should give you a good idea of where the strength of your signal begins to drop.
Look around at the location where the signal begins to drop off, and consider the path your signal has to take to get there. Have you turned a corner, or is there a wall or a larger home decoration or electronic device that may be causing interference between the router and your Ring device?
If you bring your device through an outside door and you lose the signal, that's most likely due to the inner and outer materials that make up your walls. Particular materials that can cause problems include:
Aluminum: Any variation of aluminum siding can block wifi signals or reflect them in unusual ways.
Brick, concrete, or stone: These materials can simply block wifi signals.
Stucco: Stucco has chicken wire inside it that can act as an attractor and blocker for wifi signals.
Security doors: These thick metal doors can easily block wifi signals.
In these cases, you can try to move your Ring device a bit closer to your router if possible. Even a few feet can be enough to make a difference.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand the importance of a seamless installation process so that you can begin using your Ring Spotlight Cam Plus right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the installation concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like your Ring Spotlight Cam Plus is not staying installed as intended. If you are installing on a wall, your camera comes ready to mount with the ball joint pointing down. No adjustments are needed before installation. If you have adjusted the mount, to reattach your camera to the camera mount, loosen the metal collar on the bracket using a Phillips-head screwdriver (not included). Then push the ball joint into the socket until it snaps into place.
