I installed the ring spotlight camera and the first time we got a rain it died. I noticed the lights were flashing so I thought I would restart it and when I open the battery compartment water came out and there is condensation side the camera.

Hello Ridiculous,
Thank you for leaving a review. Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance. This device is intended to be a battery-powered HD camera, with two-way talk and spotlights, for security anywhere you need.
Condensation is a naturally occurring process by which water condenses out of the air and forms as small droplets inside the device. This happens primarily due to the cooling effect when your lights turn off or as the light itself cools when the sun goes down. Are you currently a Ring Protect Plus subscription member? Or is your device still under the original one-year warranty? If so, please reach out to our support team as soon as possible so we can discuss a resolution for you.
This issue could also be caused by environmental factors as well. It’s important when selecting a location to remember that Spotlight Cam is designed to be placed at an optimum height of nine feet with the motion detector parallel to the ground. This will put the motion sensor in a perfect position to detect human-sized objects at up to 30 feet. Here is a helpful article regarding installation of the device: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003340986-Ring-Spotlight-Cam-Battery-Installation.

Hello Pinoy,
Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review of the Ring Spotlight Camera. At Ring, we believe that stronger communities are the key to safer neighborhoods. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home, and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. We are saddened to read that this device did not meet your expectations, but are still here to assist you, if needed.
Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Here is a helpful article that explains this feature in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency.
If you still have the Ring device in your possession, we invite you to reach out to us at https://community.ring.com/. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback/experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you, if we can be of any further assistance! Thank you, Jamila with Ring

Installed almost a month ago. Easy to install, clear picture. Hooked to our home's wifi through the mobile app. with just a little difficulty (not exactly as directions noted but worked). Motion detection very good and can be adjusted back if too sensitive. Live view is a nice feature but if you have more than one camera, doorbell etc. streaming you can go through mobile data quickly! Multiple mobile users can have access. Ring protection plan is available and very economical (free 30 day trial when you activate your cameras). Batteries are inexpensive and in these Spotlight Cams you get one battery for each camera but they can hold 2 each. Buy the extra 2 and you can double the time. USB charging cables come in the package. It looks like one battery charge will last over a month and with 2 installed in each Cam the time will be doubled. It also depends on your settings. The neighborhood watch group in the app is informative. Everything for installation is in the packaging which made it very easy. The only reason I go with 4 stars vs. 5 stars is there was not much information (and is not easy to find after the fact) or a warning about how much data use can occur. We installed the 2 cams and a doorbell and had all 3 with live view activated. We used triple the mobile data we normally do. If you have unlimited no problem or if there was a warning about the live streaming it would have helped. We have adjusted our viewing and love the security of being able to see our home from anywhere. Absolutely a very good purchase that I recommend highly!

I have a Ring pro on my front door and loved it so much that I wanted something for the back patio since I have contracts (lawn, pool, trees, etc) in my backyard. My challenge however is that all the walls on the patio are either stucco or rock, which makes it near impossible to run a hidden power line. So I opted for this option and so far it works great. The lights are pretty bright and the motion detection works as expected.
As for the battery life, it has been in for a couple of weeks and it has lost about 10% of battery. So I’m guessing it will last about 3 months before it needs a charge. I just ordered a second battery which should double that battery life.
The connection is very quick, it seems to connect much faster than my front door, but in fairness, it is closer to the wireless router.
As for installation, I installed it using the provided screws into the frame of my patio door. It actually works perfect there because you can’t really see it and allows me to perfectly position it for motion detection.
My only complaint is the motion zone setup. Unlike the ring pro where I can “draw” motion zones (which significantly helps reduce motion alerts), it only allows you to specify a distance. It really isn’t very intuitive, so I just leave it at mid-range and it seems to work just fine for now.
Beware, in order to have video playback, you do have to subscribe to the ring premium service. And you have to have a subscription per device! I have it for my front door, not sure I’m gonna pay for the back door. That was kind of a bummer to find out I’d have to pay more. It should be a household subscription.
Overall, I’m very happy with the device and would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy-to-install solution without wires.

Great Camera Setup Needs Clarity

I agree with the previous poster most issues in these reviews are people wanting something for nothing. You need to familiarize yourself with Wifi mainly. Almost every issue I have read in reviews can be avoided simply fixing your crappy wifi, Not getting alerts, black screen, pixelating, delays in recording etc. Just because the cam has some wifi reaching it doesnt mean a thing. Its outside and the average home's wifi is too weak. Unless it is 5-10ft away. I too had all the issues stated here until we had to replace our router. (nothing to do with the camera). The new router was installed closer to the camera then we had to add the camera and
this solved most issues. The videos are in color, and if installed properly not too high you get perfect facial pictures. If you have it pointed towards trees or plants you get too many alerts. The app lets you choose the alert frequency. Move the camera around, experiment. My cam is mounted aprox. 6ft high for clarity I will post a photo. Sure a bad guy could damage it but by the time they reach it the video is already saved to the cloud vs installing it higher out of reach but not seeing the bad guys face only an angled head shot.
Explore the app. You can set the camera to turn on the light at night when motion is triggered or not. It is very very bright.
I think the big issue here is the Ring Company not going into better detail in the installation. You def. need to check wifi signal for any wifi camera system.
Photo is a screenshot taken from Ring video at night with the spotlight . There is no additional lighting on. Motion zones set to 3/4 and installed at 6' high. (yes that is remainder of yard sale not put away yet lol)
Cons: The battery door needs to be re-designed. It is extremely hard to close properly. By design they say however it is a huge issue.

I read all the reviews about the wireless ring spotlight, good and bad reviews. After all those reviews I end up given them a chance since they are wireless.
Here we go....
Battery:
Everyone wants to know how long this device really last. Now I don’t know how the device was tested to last 6 months on a single charge. I’m still on the edge to see if my cameras will even last the month. I installed them on 12/3 and as of today 12/17 (14 days in) , they are at 40 and 37 percent full. My settings are at the lowest settings and if I’m home I try not to check the cameras through my phone to save the battery since I notice the battery drains like crazy when you view them live (disappointed) Yes that defuses the point of being able to see them love. I figured why not just look out the window, rather then letting the app load. So, as of now, the battery is not the best and I wish they would come with two batteries instead of one.
Settings:
This part really took me by surprise. Ring advertises that you can select the area you want the motion to be patrol. Negative, that’s only with the hardwire products. The wireless one only gives you the option in a 180 degree and from 0-30ft. The wire one gives you more options. Also, on the wireless one, you.l can’t select the sensitivity of how the camera senses motion. Wireless just has light, standard, and frequent. The wire one has from pets to only persons. This was a really set back for me when I found this out because my neighbors cat is always setting off my cameras.
Ring, please update this!!
Quality:
The quality is a hit and miss. You can’t really see a clear image when you zoom in. Not sure what that consist of. At night, the spot lights are great. They give enough light to alert any intruders. Night vision is good but you have the same problem when you zoom in. The two way talk is great, used it couple of times and they’ve been a success. Only reason I haven’t returned them back.
Over all the cameras would be better if they had the features ring advertises and if the battery life really last 6 months.
I would love to know how I can get the 6months or even 4-5 months of battery life.

Installed one to cover garage access door and one to monitor back deck. Installation was very easy, and directions are clear. They work great, although I had to adjust sensitivity--the squirrels running across the deck would set it off. Video is clear, and I like being able to talk through them (scared the heck out of my neighbor who was bringing my paper to the garage door one morning to save me from going out in the rain!) . I would recommend, but I would also buy the extra batteries. Had for about a month now, and have not had any problems.

Great camera for a beginner easy setup and install. I get really good battery life for a battery operated camera have mine placed over my drive way where there is always activity. It lasts around two weeks to two and a half weeks with two battery's installed night time footage a little grainy. Day time footage i would rate it a 8/10 the spotlight is relatively bright 300 Lumens Motion Senor is really good. I have mine pointing at a street (Busy street) around 40-55 feet away and it doesn't go off for the vehicles overall I would recommend buying this camera i also have the Ring Home Security System and Ring Video Doorbell 2 All work great. love how they work together.

Good cameras held back by their wireless hardware

I've been using two of these cameras for about 6 months now with Ring's Protect Plus plan. I should note that these are the first home security cameras I've ever owned so I have no other points of reference for anything I say below.
Build quality/hardware is good with one exception noted below.
Easy to mount.
Video quality doesn't seem to be 1080p to me, though that could be more the fault of the video compression they use for their services; clear enough to see what you need to, though. Night vision is good.
Audio quality through the two-way microphone is acceptable.
Lights, which can be set to turn on automatically when motion is detected, are very bright and are, in themselves, a significant mischief deterrent.
They handle the elements very well (I live near a coast so they've dealt with everything except snow).
The app and its features are easy to use but the "Person Detection" algorithm they use to cut down on unnecessary motion event notifications (which significantly impact battery life) needs a lot of work (regularly detects my cat as a person even from a very, very close range).
Battery life is okay. If you configure everything as close to "default" levels as possible and don't use the Live View too regularly, you'll probably get around 10-12 days a charge. Luckily, the cameras have a second battery slot which, to me, is a must unless you get the solar panel attachments.
My single biggest complaint with these cameras is that, considering their mainly outdoor purpose, the wireless hardware in them seems very subpar. I have a very good home network that's manually configured and optimized for speed and signal strength and yet, the two cameras that I have are about 15 feet away from my router and the Ring app very regularly says the signal of the cameras is too weak to use the Live View (they'll still record motion events even when it says this but being able to access the feeds on-demand is a big part of the "peace of mind" factor for me and they're just too inconsistent on that front). I've tested the areas where these are installed to see if they're just random dead zones for whatever reason and my phone and laptop grab the wi-fi signals consistently just fine. That, alone, brings them from 4 to 3 stars, in my book.

Hi ThatLaggyGuy,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate the value and trust you have placed in Ring for your home security needs. The Ring Spotlight Cam Battery is designed to bring you peace of mind with reliable performance. By using one, you should be able to connect to video within seconds. Rest assured, our team is here to help diagnose and resolve this together.
Although distance does play a big part in the overall connectivity and quality of the live video, there are other factors to consider. Nearby interference, network limitations or a combination of both can also affect your cameras' ability to connect to quality video in a timely manner. For example, if your cameras are mounted on a surface that is made out of heavy-duty materials, an otherwise strong signal may diminish as it passes through those. Materials such as metal, brick, and cement could prove to be a challenge. Do you happen to have your cameras mounted on or near something like this?
As mentioned before, our team would be more than happy to look into this and find the best solution. Our priority is ensuring you to have a device you can rely on to keep you connected to activity around your home. Please reach out to us today!

The motion sensing light clicks on instantly and, depending on your notification settings, almost instantly gets video recording and streaming to your PC or mobile phone. The battery wears down somewhat quickly in my high traffic area, but the second battery compartment and the ability to attach a solar panel lessen that concern for me.

The Ring Spotlight Cam Wire-free was a great bargain when I purchased 2 at the same time. Installation was a breeze. The spotlight and notifications on my phone when activated work absolutely perfectly for my needs. I have a new pup who needs help ensuring he will use my yard for his "self care?" rather than my carpeting so the yard is lit as soon as we are in the yard. We have coyotes in the area and the lights are great for keeping them out of the yard. I couldn't be happier with this product.

I bought the Ring Doorbell and I really liked how it worked. Within a week, I learned about all of Ring's camera options and went to town especially since they came with free Echo Show 5s and normal Echoes.
The IR night vision is really good. The spotlight works sufficiently and they do the job I need them to do.
I don't know if I pay full price but since I got them on sale and got a free Echo Show for each Spotlight Cam, it was a great deal. This probably the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
I purchased them with the Solar Panels so I don't need to worry about recharging the batteries manually.

Ok, let me start by saying for the price of a wireless outdoor camera you can’t get better quality than a RING. Now it’s not perfect but it’s as good as you’re going to get for that price. I have 5 RING cameras in my home. Two outdoor, one Ring “doorbell” and two interior cameras. I’m a truck driver so I’m not always home. So my wife wanted to feel safer at home. She first wanted a full-on camera system with a hard drive to be able to go back if she needed to. The problem was at the time most that we found were wires and she didn't want to be drilling holes in the house. Now I’m not the most handy guy around. I can do basic things around the house but the task of drilling holes on the side of the house while running wires was just going to be too much. The. You have to hire somebody for an extra cost and also you have wires all over the place so that didn’t work out. So I got the RINGS and they have been great. The ONLY problem I’ve had with the RING cameras is my front “doorbell” camera. I feel like it catches things most of the time and sometimes it won’t. Could be because both of our cars are in front and maybe Messing with the motion around it but it hasn’t been reliable. Also sometimes it catches the person once he rings the doorbell. Doesn't get them walking up to the door. Might be because it was an earlier version? Maybe RING has fixed it? Anyways other than those minor things. The ring camera’s have been heaven sent. My wife feels safer and I can be more at peace when I’m out in the road.

installation was cut and dry, very simple, app does step by step for those who are not tech savvy. Easy anyone can set these up!

This camera brand has its pros and cons but overall I do like the camera!
I love the fact that it lights up when it detects motion, and the light is super bright! I also liked that it was 100% easy to install myself with no help, it’s so worth it & the equipment you’ll need comes inside the box along with the charger for the Battery & a 2sided sticker you can place on your window or anywhere:)
What I don’t like? The battery life..the more motion it detects the more it drains the battery.
