    Decent camera, easy setup. Motion alerts delayed

    Minus 1 star for random delays on motion alerts, despite the delayed alert when motion is sensed, the cloud recording generally captures whatever event caused the motion, so it's not a communication issue with wifi or the internet. I use Ubiquiti Unify wifi access points, and my upload/download speeds are above the recommended speed by the manufacturer. Wifi signal strength is also very good to each device (appx 80% at minimum). So far I have 3 of these battery cameras, two of which are charged by the accessory solar panel (see separate review), making them virtually maintenance free. One battery only camera has two batteries in it, and I have other spare batteries fully charged, which I will "rotate" when a battery reaches a low level. Camera seems to use the "right side" battery first, then guessing it switches to the "left side" when the other is depleted, but I plan to swap it before that happens. Live view is enabled on all devices and doesn't seem to impact battery life very much. App review: Android app is able to fully report health status, Windows 10 app doesn't report battery status (not sure if it will report low battery or not, haven't encountered any low batteries yet), and the Mac app only reports the battery in the "right" slot, will alert on a low battery if even a fresh battery is in the left slot. Even though the battery spotlight cams have lights and sirens on them, the lights and siren can only be activated from the Android app, Windows and Mac app don't have that option, but do have the option for lights/siren on the "wired" spotlight cam, which is the same as the battery spotlight cam, except it plugs directly into an A/C outlet, and has motion zones that can be customized based on areas the camera is able to see. Android, Windows, and Mac apps all can use two-way talk on either camera type, please note that a microphone is needed on the Windows or Mac. Hope the manufacturer updates the Mac and Windows apps to be consistent with Android. I can't comment on the iOS app since I don't own a device that uses that platform.

    Not infrared activated motion

    I have the first generation ring doorbell that is "infrared" activated motion which I love! It doesn't go off for rain, snow or leaves blowing on trees. It only activates motion alerts with heat motion such as people, animals and vehicles. It is very accurate. I love it! I purchased this new spotlight cam to put on my shed outback thinking it was infrared as well but it is not! It triggers motion from pixel disruption.. meaning anything that moves this thing is going off. Light snow, rain, shadows from trees, leaves blowing around. This thing was going off every hour all night long for just some light snow. Very disappointing. After giving it a month I will be returning it. I am bummed out because it does have a great field of view, the led lights work great! Lights up a large area but not worth all the false motion alerts I'm getting to my phone even on the lightest settings. I did call customer support , which they are very pleasant to work with but we could not come up with a fix as its not infrared. I really hope they can bring back the infrared and use it in these new spotlight and floodlight cams giving customers a choice between the two different motion activated sensors. "Pixel or Infrared", to fit everyones unique needs.

    Great idea - bad product

    I purchased the spotlight cam hoping it would make up for the terrible doorbell cam, however, they have both proved to be worthless. After hours on the phone with ring support they finally decided i should not have followed the instructions in the video or in the manual. The optimal height is not 9 feet even though their instructions suggest otherwise. So here i am in 20 degree weather running tests trying to get it to work properly and they finally decide it is too high and that 5-7 feet is the proper height. I'm sorry but i the instructions had said that to begin with, you might not be reading this negative review. They clearly state 9' as the optimal height then act surprised that your device isn't 5-7 feet off the ground. Really? Installation is easy, but un-installation is a different story. Those screws that stripped when mounting it? Now you have to unscrew those stripped screws you were lucky to get in the first place. Also, get ready to fill all those holes you made when mounting and running the wires. SOOOOO frustrating. Every single Ring support person i've talked to has been nice and helpful, but unfortunately they all give conflicting information. As far as the doorbell which is a different product. It still picks up cars that are 80 feet away but not cars that are 8 feet away. One person will tell me to run the sensitivity up and the other person tells me to turn it down. Bottom line, neither of these products perform the basic advertised functions.

    Good video, major privacy concerns

    From a technical standpoint, the camera is 4-stars. However, from an implementation standpoint, it is 0-1 star. The camera does a good job picking up motion. The setup is straightforward and flexible. You can configure when you want to receive alerts and configure the areas where the camera should look for motion. The problem I have with the camera is that every time it detects motion (whether you have it configured to receive alerts or not), it will record the motion and upload that video to RING's cloud service. For example, I have it configured to not send alerts in the evening or during the weekend when I am home. But there are hundreds of videos from my camera in their cloud service from those times. I have spoken with their support team and there is no way to prevent this. Their first response is "it's not recording 24x7", and while that is correct, it IS recording and uploading video EVERY TIME it senses motion, regardless of whether you get alerts. Personally, I do not want every movement the camera sees recorded and uploaded to RING's cloud service. For example, even though I would like the area monitored at night, I would absolutely NEVER install one of these near my teenage daughter's room. Because of this design, the use cases for interior RING devices are extremely limited in my opinion. Unless they add functionality which links recording and alerting, I will not be purchasing another RING product for inside the house.

    Good during day, poor night performance

    I purchased this camera to overlook the turnaround/parking area at my house as have limited view of this area from the house and often can’t tell who just came up my driveway until they walk to the door. The motion detection and day time features work great, but in my opinion the camera has little to no night vision unless there is an alternative light source like a full moon or motion has already been triggered. If you just look at the live view at night I often see a little of the siding on my garage and black. I worked with tech support for over 3 weeks and while responsive their final determination was that my driveway is not reflective enough and the fact that my camera, which must be in range of WiFi, is picking up a piece of my siding black is all the camera will show in the dark. In my opinion the camera does not have the advertised night vision it has vision in low light. Priced as a premium product and about as effective and with the features of half the price.

    I now have 6 of the Ring Spotlight Cam Wired installed on my house plus the Video Doorbell Pro. These cameras have great video quality & sound. I like that I can save the video clips directly to my camera roll using the Ring App on my iPhone & Mac Computer. I like that you can disable the Led light from coming on when the camera detects motion which is a feature of the wired cam only. Having it record audio is great. Plus it has two-way audio so you can speak to whoever you see outside your house. I had a wired camera system but the Ring Cameras are so much better with quality & ease of use. Definitely recommend for protecting your home.

    Ring cams are simply amazing. Not only are they easy to install and connect to a network, they work. The app is also very easy to navigate and user friendly. The sec someone enters the field it sends me a text, I can immediately view it on my phone. If it’s someone I feel has bad intentions I can hit the alarm siren or talk thru the mic to scare them off. The neighbors app is also informative to the area you set up to monitor. 1mi to 10mi from your location. Had no idea so much was going on from theft of cars to home invasions. This info was shocking. In my opinion this is by far the best setup on the market today and is a must to have to stay one step ahead of the bad guys and protect your family and home.

    We installed this camera above our garage door outside and O.M.G. , the coverage we get is amazing! I can monitor my entire front yard and not to be creepy but i can also see my neighbors house across the street, his neighbors on BOTH sides and half the yard of my two neighbors on each side of my house as well. The picture quality is so clear I can identify the snobby lady who walks her ferret looking dog and doesnt pick up his poop yet picks up my news paper to put it on my windshield -__- 2 way talking is great, the flood light is bright and siren could be a bit louder, I haven’t messed with this setting yet though but will soon !Ill try it when my paper comes again and update this post

    I needed to replace my outdoor camera and decided to go with a #Ring camera with spotlight to complement the Ring doorbell in front. I am pretty happy with this purchase. As there has been a lot of construction and people in the lot adjacent to mine, having the camera has been a bit of a security blanket to watch the workers live or review past activity. What I do not like however is that I can watch and record live via the phone app but not online. It would be helpful to be able to run live continuously on my extra desktop rather than on my phone which tends to time out. Other than that the camera has worked well. Just a few minor hiccups but overall very good.

    Full HD picture, and works GREAT with other Ring products. I just simply mounted mine to my roof overhang, plugged it in, then used the app to sett it up....WAY easy! The monitoring zones are really cool too. I draw a little box around the part of my yard that I want the camera to focus it's detection on, and it only notifies my phone if there is a disturbance in that box. it still records silently any other disturbances, but I get a notification on my phone if someone is close to my stuff. You can speak to people through it too. A must have, especially if you already have a Ring Doorbell.

    Everything is great except for the wifi reception, otherwise I would've given it a 5. I placed this camera about 25 feet, it that, from my router and even less than that from a wifi booster unit (Orbi system, 5,ooo sf) and still shows a RSSI -63, moderate interference, when 0 is perfect. With that, it does occasional drops and the image gets frozen for less than a second. All my other devices get a full signal strength so I have to think that its the built in antenna on the camera that could be better. The cost could also be better. The app is great.

    We bought this after using the Ring Doorbell and seeing how great the doorbell was, we figured this would work just as well. IT DOES!! It's very convenient to see who is meandering around my yard when I'm both home and away. One super cool thing about all the Ring products is the integration with my Apple Watch and iPhone. They work seamlessly together which is very convenient if I don't have my phone nearby. I highly recommend all of the Ring products. The customer service is great too. Always available to answer questions or help with any of their products.

    This camera works really well. It is a wired model so no problems setting up motion zones. The wired cord is long enough for our needs and ends with a L shaped plug. Need to adjust motion settings because even spiderwebs would activate. The light is plenty bright, though wondering what the bulb life is. It comes with some mounting hardware, but the included screws are too short to attach to siding. I had to attach a wood base first to the siding and then the Ring base to that. It comes with free saved videos for 30 days only. Phone app works pretty well, but takes a few seconds to start live view.

    I have a coupe of floodlight cams, and I'm a fan of the company. Thus I was excited about this product as it serves as a good replacement for an older Ring stick-up cam. First I bought the battery version, but it wouldn't work out for me. You have to take out the battery every so often to charge it via a USB charger which wouldn't work. I wanted something that we could install and forget about. I bought the wired one, but I had to exchange the first unit as the process of installing the camera involves twisting the unit into the power source, and that ended up breaking some small and sensitive pins. The new unit I purchased afterwards is working fine for the past month, and it's working per expectations. Just be wary about the above issues I faced.

    I tried everything i could think of to make this thing work. It always had poor wifi signal and it constantly go offline. It was only 15ft away from my wifi router and it would still go offline. Bought and expensive wifi extender and it would still go offline. Placed the wifi exterder half way like they suggest and still poor signal and still go offline. I have the ring doorbell and no problem at all. This ring spotlight cameras are worthless. Ring needs to fix that problem. Don’t buy it. Save yourself a headache. Spent almost 1 hr with ring customer service with no solution. I am returning it asap.

    Installation is easy and quick. Make sure you unlock your router to accept a new connection if you have it secured. Most time spent routing and securing the 20' electric cord to make for a clean install. Will also take a day or two to refine the motion and light settings. This is my second ring cam and very happy with both spotlight cams. Only downside is that sometimes motion is sensed when landscaping lights turn off - hopefully ring is continuing to update the firmware to take care of minor problems.

    I wanted a wired vs battery camera so I went with this. I wish they had an actual hard wired camera. Essentially this could be easily unplugged and it wouldn't work. We ended up drilling a hole and plugging this into our garage vs plugging it in outside-the cord would look terrible. If I was to do it all over again, I probably would have just bought the flood cam. Ring is a great service, happy so far with the brand, just not so impressed with this camera.

    This system is really easy system to install. Provides HD video and audio coverage that can be triggered by motion or viewed and listened to on demand. Motion sensing sensitivity can be adjusted, placed in snooze for a period of time ranging from 15 minutes to 2 hours or removed entirely. This really helps with outdoor ceiling fans on windy days and yard pest such as squirrels and birds. The two-way audio is very useful. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase.

    Does it all. Quality built. Quality picture. Easy to install and set up. Motion detects even cats. I don’t care for the light but they don’t make one without the light, not a big deal it works fine just not needed. The price for monthly/yearly subscription is the most reasonable among silmilar brands. You can disassemble the mount to remove the cord, making it easier to route it through the wall. App for the camera is decent and I’m so glad that you can choose a different alert tone for notifications.

    This is a good product. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have good Internet. I probably would like the product more if I had good Internet. My Internet is ok. I wish I could zoom in and see the images better. It's really inconvenient to push the reset button when I need to due to the location of my camera. I wish there was a remote to reset the camera. I like that you can share information with other ring users.
