The Ring Door Bell is a great concept, however it does not work perfectly. I purchased the ring door chime as well, and there is a noticeable lag between when the door bell is pushed and when the chime rings. There is major internet connection problem with the ring door bell. I have 1GB internet speed and the ring door bell is about 3 feet from my router and it drops connection randomly, the video is extremely choppy, video recordings are sometimes black, it shows it recorded an event, but you cannot view the video.

Takes great clear video but too much of a delay, probably due to the set up of my walk up apt, even had the wifi extender, didnt help all that much, plus cox sucks for internet service in my opinion

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT . THE ONLY NEGATIVE POINT IS THE RANGE TO GET THE INTERNET WIRELESS. IT DON'T GET THE INTERNET IF IT IS ABOUT 2 ROOMS AWAY . YOU WILL NEED THE WIRELESS EXTENDER IN ORDER THE CAMERA CAN WORK, BUT AFTER THAT THE SYSTEM IS OUTSTANDING

My husband and I had done some research regarding doorbells like these....We finally opted for this one and it's been the best purchase we've done so far for the house. The only problem we've had is slow internet connection but I'm sure that has to do with our internet service and not the doorbell itself. I highly recommend!

Was a gift for my parents and they could not use it due to their intercom/doorbell system. My dad insisted on us using it and we love it! Sometimes it has trouble connecting to our WiFi-but it's probably our internet.

I have been using this for about 2 months now, the first month was good, then the 2nd month rolled around where it came time to pay for the cloud recording, and then I started having connection issues. Nothing has changed with my internet connection, same speeds, and same router location as it was when I first hooked it up. So not sure what going on, but until the connection issues started occurring it was amazing. I am constantly having to reconnect to the the network, as it will disconnect within in hours, sometimes even minutes after connecting to the network.

    Ring door bell II

It does record motion and when someone rings the doorbell. Con: internet connectivity is poor. The signal for mine has to go through a brick wall so it's not good. I've tried a range extender and the signal gain is minimal. I would think the ability to use the hard wire power supply as an antenna would be a great fix for this. The motion sensor zones can't be adjusted individually. You can turn a zone off but you can't have zone 1 at low with zone 3 at high sensitivity.

Bought this along with a ring security system to gain some piece of mind when I'm away from home, which we are for extended periods of time. The security system seems to work well, but the video doorbell is terrible. If I weren't away from home for a few months, I'd uninstall it and return it. I will say that when home, I could connect to the doorbell albeit a bit slowly. Too slow to actually respond to anyone at the door, however. When away, I get multiple notices of motion at my front door every day, but when I try to view the events or just connect to a live view, I get nothing but a black screen. I installed 200mb internet at my away location thinking that was the issue, but no help - just a black screen and/or a spinning wheel with the "Activating Device" notice. Now, all the chimed notices I get from Ring just remind me of what I mistake I made.

    Terrible Wifi performance

I replaced my original Ring Doorbell with the RIng 2. The big issue with this model is the poor Wifi performance. The only way I could connect to my Wifi was to put the Ring 2 right next to my Router, otherwise it would not connect. Once I placed it next to my front door the signal dropped to a very low level and recordings were so laggy that I missed the actual event. The router is maybe 10 feet from my front door. Searching the Internet revealed this is a common problem. I even tested my connection by placing my tablet right next to the ring mounted outside and measured the Wifi signal which was pretty strong. My conclusion is that this device has poor Wifi hardware/antenna. I would suggest anyone purchasing this test it in the location where you will be using it and make sure you can return it if it doesn't work.

The good: the live view looks great, even using battery power (when it connects). Being able run off battery is essential as I do not have an existing doorbell or power at my door. The bad: Takes ForFreakingEVER to connect to the network via doorbell or motion, which really defeats its main pirpose. Goes offline frequently. I have the sensors covering my entire porch, the walkway leading up to the door and beyond and am still fortunate if I get the back of someone's head as they leave. Less bad but still bad:vocal quality when speaking through the ap to the device is horrible and hard ti understand. I followed setup directions, have utilized the included wedges to angle the view "down", have it hooked in to network extender on a fast internet network. If I could easily pull it down and return it to BB I would. Not sure what I'll do. Would not recommend.

Nice features. I can set it up to notify me if someone rings the bell or if someone walks by in front. Can also adjust the area to look for motion. Had some problems with the setup. When I first installed it the Live View didn't work. Got a warning that the upload speed was bad. Either bad connection to WIFI or slow internet connection. Increased internet speed and didn't help. Re-installed device and it still didn't work. Next day it worked sometimes. Motion sensor works fine, but live view still has problems. Also has a button that is supposed to give me more information about saving my videos, but when I click it nothing happens.

    Works but batteries Die Fast

    Posted
    Fromkop

I purchased two ring doorbell's. At first I loved them Then the batteries started dying every 8 to 12 weeks. Taking them down to recharge them so often is very inconvenient especially in the winter months. I also had problems the Internet connection. I never had problems with my Internet anywhere else around the outside of my house. I stream video from my yard all the time with no issues. But when I called support they recommended that I purchase the chime pro or a Wi-Fi extender.I purchased the ring chime pro which is supposed to boost the signal. So far it hasn't made any difference. I ordered a solar charger three months ago and it is still backordered. I called support and they were very nice and eager to help but ultimately had no answers as to when my item will ship. I never intended to purchase doorbells I had to put this much thought into. I would not purchase this again and I would not recommend them to a friend.

      Ring

      Hi Fromkop,

I am sorry to hear about this poor and inconvenient Ring experience. In regards to the issues that you are experiencing with battery loss, is this primarily during the winter time? If so, how cold does it get? Since Ring Doorbell and Ring Stick Up Cam use lithium polymer batteries when the temperature drops below 40°F, it may be necessary to charge your Ring product more often. Battery performance will return to normal once the weather warms up and remains above freezing. Additionally, I would appreciate the chance to connect with you directly so that I can personally investigate the connectivity issues that you are encountering. Would you be so kind as to email me at Kaitlyn.rosenthal@ring.com?

I would appreciate the chance to improve your Ring experience.
