Hard wired mechanical chime buzzes battery 1 day

    Posted
    Brainslayer

The rechargeable battery supposed last 6months to 1 year before recharging I have it on the lowest motion sensing and lowest notification but battery only lasted 1 day and have to keep recharging which takes 9-10 hours a day so it's only up less then 12 hours a day with constant half a day to recharge. I have it hard wired but the door chime will not ring and the mechanical chime box just makes a constant humming buzzing sounds. Occasionally the door bell will ring at random times without pressing the doorbell too so I disconnected the hardwire bought the ring chime device for the door bell sound which works but still battery last only one day before recharging for 9-10 hours before can use again

The camera itself is great, picture quality is excellent. I already have a camera that points towards the front door, but with the Ring you get get a close up, clear view. The downside is that the program that you download for the smartphone takes a little while to get used to, wouldn't call it user friendly. Additionally, in order to continue to get saved video, you have to pay $3 a month for basic service after a free 30 day trial. You also have to buy a separate door chime for the inside of your house to hear when the doorbell is pressed, the fact it'sn't included is ridiculous. The monthly fee isn't much, the chime isn't either...but it's somewhat annoying that yet again, a product isn't what it appears to be.

I bought my Ring for myself as an Xmas gift it was very easy to set up and install. I wound up buying the chime since I didn't have a doorbell (which you don't need) so I can hear the chimes throughout my home. So far I'm very pleased with my purchase and feel more secure in my home.

Easy to install and phone app works flawless. The only takeaway is the long loud musical tone played when ringer is pressed. Which it was a short tone at a lower volume.

I love this doorbell but the motion setting is very sensitive. Also I get the chime every time I walk out the door or something my family does which is kind of a nuisance. Overall the camera quality is excellent and I like the ability to network with neighbors and pass along suspicious activity

The Ring Door Bell is a great concept, however it does not work perfectly. I purchased the ring door chime as well, and there is a noticeable lag between when the door bell is pushed and when the chime rings. There is major internet connection problem with the ring door bell. I have 1GB internet speed and the ring door bell is about 3 feet from my router and it drops connection randomly, the video is extremely choppy, video recordings are sometimes black, it shows it recorded an event, but you cannot view the video.

Ring Video Doorbell 2 very poor experience

    Posted

I purchased this Ring Doorbell at Best Buy based on reviews of an easy installation. I spent 9 hours on a Friday trying to get this doorbell to work. Finally, after exhausting all fixes I had to call tech support. The technician spent an hour on the phone with me and we finally got it to work after reinstalling the Ring app. I then installed the doorbell on my front door and tested it. No alerts, video or anything else was happening. Within a few minutes some alerts came in, but way too late. I then installed the Chime to give it a boost. The Chime was never able to connect to the Ring Doorbell. I have given up and will return the Ring Video Doorbell 2 and the Chime on Monday. This system is extremely difficult to install and I wasted hours trying to get this system to work. Very disappointed!

This is a very nice product. It did a good job of solving a problem of needing a door bell button where there was no wiring and notifying me in several different locations. It works for all of that. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that there is a significant delay between the time a person presses the button and when it rings on the optional chime or when it beeps on my phone. The person at the door needs to be patient.

Awesome product. Set up was easy. Everyone in the house has the app on our iPhones, and it works great for us. Installed it right before a vacation, and it gave us some peace of mind while away. The detection range can be adjusted so you don't get a chime when a car passes by. Very happy with product.

Overall, this product is great. tHings seem to work fast and reliably. The only downside is that at this price point, I would expect the doorbell to come WITH the chime, not be an addition. If you want a doorbell that you can hear in the home, without having your phone on you, understand that as of now you'll have to spend another $30 to add the chime.

Had another brand, thought it was a good product. Had to modify my digital doorbell chime, vendor sent in the wrong part. Got that squared away, it still didn't work. Poor customer support. Bought Ring 2 at Best Buy, great price, installed quickly, online and human support were great! In a much better place now. .

As someone with social anxiety and general anxiety, having the ring doorbell is AMAZING. I'm always concerned about our house when we're gone and I'm always worried about who is knocking at the door. I almost cried tears of absolute joy when we used it the first time someone showed up. Installation was fairly easy and set up through the app was very easy. The video quality is great and the night vision surprised me how well it is! My only complaint is my husband (who is a delivery driver) said that he's seen ring doorbells that only chime one time instead of two times when pressed. We've tried to Google and do everything through the app but haven't figured out how to change that. We plan to buy the whole get up from ring once we can afford it!

I was hesitant on purchasing a battery powered doorbell but this product has laid that to rest. It works terrific and the battery has been quite good so far. It has been 5 weeks and the battery is still above a quarter of the charge with motion alerts on and set to low sensitivity. The camera captures very nice quality video and has a great field of view. Set up was fairly easy but I the app is a little slow to respond to certain changes like chime tones. The response time on alerts to my phone has also been very good. I do have a very strong wireless connection set up for the device however. The basic subscription at $30 per year is also affordable in my opinion. It seems like a reasonable price to be able to record and save alerts without the need of a physical storage device. Overall this is has been a great investment and is optimized pretty well at the moment.

We bought into the Ring hype recently, and installed multiple doorbell 2 units and chimes. It's been nothing but a headache since. The Ring system requires a cloud service, and it'll actually just stop working if there are any problems anywhere in between. After fighting with it for days to make it work at all and working with support who only seems to be trained enough to blame your WIFI, we finally got it working with good signal strength. The first problem, the Ring Doorbells couldn't communicate with the WIFI it was assigned too because there was another WIFI network in close proximity that interfered with it even though it was on a different channel. The Ring extenders don't allow you to set the WIFI channel, so the only way to correct poor signal to an extender is to relocate the extender somewhere that it doesn't conflict with your neighbor's WIFI or to not use an extender at all. Lesson learned. The next problem is the lag. Many times people come to the door, and the Ring device notifies 30-60 seconds later if not longer. It's rare that a notification event happens within a few seconds. There are times when we've come in the door, and walked all the way to the other side of the house before the event hits. Other times, it never comes in at all. Again, support blames your WIFI rather than their own awful cloud service. Right now, my front doorbell 2 has an RSSI of 45 and my ISP bandwidth measures 75/10 but if you wave your hand in front of the doorbell it'll be a solid 30 seconds before the chime on the other side of the door goes off, and it could be a minute before you get the notification on your phone. Half the time you answer the doorbell on your device, you'll get a black video with the controls overlay. If you stop and restart the app, it'll sometimes fix that. Sometimes it'll not. At times when you answer the doorbell or just select live video it'll hang at sending credentials or activating the device. If you look at the doorbell on another device at the same time, it'll report healthy. Even looking past all of that, they didn't bother to scale their cloud systems in preparation of Halloween last night resulting in a huge outage. It's hard to know if there are kids at your door if nothing happens when they ring the doorbell. What made it worse was the fact that they had these really cool halloween sounds, but none of the kids got to hear them. As I was writing this review, an Amazon delivery came. The person rang the doorbell, left the package, went to his car, and drove off before the notification came through. That's just not acceptable for the amount of money you spend on this system. The bottom line, I really wanted to like the Ring system but due to the amount of latency, the number of missed chimes, the constant failing video, and their support only being able to blame on my personal WIFI and ISP, I'll be returning it and getting my money back.

    Don't Waste Your Money

I've had my Ring Video Doorbell 2 for 6 weeks. It works sporadically at best. This is one of the worst investments I've ever made. If you want a good video door bell don't buy this product. If you want one with spotty performance then this is for you. I've had to reprogram it 3 times to get it to function again after if fails. I've had people literally walk up to my front porch and I don't get an alert and the video doesn't record. I also have an indoor doorbell chime and there are times when people ring my doorbell and it doesn't sync to my indoor chime. This happens about 50% of the time. When it fails I've to reset the doorbell and chime so they will sync again. You're probably wondering if it's my internet connection and the answer is no. I've a Comcast Business Internet connection and a ORBI mesh WIFI router with a satellite unit. I installed the router 2 feet from my front door where the Ring Video Doorbell is installed and there is a very strong WIFI signal. It's simply a lousy product!
