We bought into the Ring hype recently, and installed multiple doorbell 2 units and chimes. It's been nothing but a headache since. The Ring system requires a cloud service, and it will actually just stop working if there are any problems anywhere in between. After fighting with it for days to make it work at all and working with support who only seems to be trained enough to blame your WIFI, we finally got it working with good signal strength. The first problem, the Ring Doorbells couldn't communicate with the WIFI it was assigned too because there was another WIFI network in close proximity that interfered with it even though it was on a different channel. The Ring extenders don't allow you to set the WIFI channel, so the only way to correct poor signal to an extender is to relocate the extender somewhere that it doesn't conflict with your neighbor's WIFI or to not use an extender at all. Lesson learned. The next problem is the lag. Many times people come to the door, and the Ring device notifies 30-60 seconds later if not longer. It's rare that a notification event happens within a few seconds. There are times when we've come in the door, and walked all the way to the other side of the house before the event hits. Other times, it never comes in at all. Again, support blames your WIFI rather than their own awful cloud service. Right now, my front doorbell 2 has an RSSI of 45 and my ISP bandwidth measures 75/10 but if you wave your hand in front of the doorbell it'll be a solid 30 seconds before the chime on the other side of the door goes off, and it could be a minute before you get the notification on your phone. Half the time you answer the doorbell on your device, you'll get a black video with the controls overlay. If you stop and restart the app, it'll sometimes fix that. Sometimes it won't. At times when you answer the doorbell or just select live video it'll hang at sending credentials or activating the device. If you look at the doorbell on another device at the same time, it'll report healthy. Even looking past all of that, they didn't bother to scale their cloud systems in preparation of Halloween last night resulting in a huge outage. It's hard to know if there are kids at your door if nothing happens when they ring the doorbell. What made it worse was the fact that they had these really cool halloween sounds, but none of the kids got to hear them. As I was writing this review, an Amazon delivery came. The person rang the doorbell, left the package, went to his car, and drove off before the notification came through. That’s just not acceptable for the amount of money you spend on this system. The bottom line, I really wanted to like the Ring system but due to the amount of latency, the number of missed chimes, the constant failing video, and their support only being able to blame on my personal WIFI and ISP, I'll be returning it and getting my money back.

First impressions: The Ring Doorbell 2 was nicely packaged and included all the tools and hardware necessary to install, including the little extras like additional wire for hardwired installations where the existing wiring is a bit short. The two included faceplate options are attractive, and it is nice to be able to change these out as desired. The unit feels well made and looks good. Set up and install: The set up and install couldn’t have been easier. Connecting to the network was very straightforward. I have not experienced any connection problems. I was able to integrate with my Echo devices to have the video shown without any issues After around 6-8 months: All of a sudden the ring device started shooting up all sorts of issues. From 3rd month or so, ring started complaining of weak Wifi signal. I ran the speed test standing next to the doorbell and to my surprise I got 165+Mbps download and 8mbps upload speed. Tried reaching the customer care multiple times and each time you hit a agent, they will come with different steps to troubleshoot which requires lot of effort. 1st person asked me to check the speed standing next to doorbell, 2nd person asked me to reach ISP to check if their settings are all good (I have different smart home devices which never ran into issues like this), 3rd person asked me to remove the doorbell and take it next to router and ring the bell and see how the video records, 4th person asked me to move my router setup to closer to doorbell (actually the router is already placed within 4-5 feet distance only, which he suggested to get it closer. I believe I need to keep my router only outdoor or hang next to doorbell), and still I don't have any solution given by ring customer care. All I get is they would ask me to purchase signal booster from them which improves the situation, but I'm not sure why to buy this when their device is not working as expected. Batteries are advertised to be replaced for once in 6 months, which I would not accept at any cost. Battery requires replacement of about once in a month or quicker even. On reporting this issue, customer agent replied being the doorbell in colder conditions outside, it gets drained faster on winter. I reside in Washington where the climate hardly hits below 8, and even on this situation the performance is worse. Better get another spare battery for you to replace it frequently. Since the device is less than 8 months old, I expected for a replacement from the ring team, which they never even spoke about. I got highly disappointed with the performance and service provided for this expensive $200 device. Better stay awake, and find a long service device.

This is my second review, because Best Buy would not publish the first one. So first impressions were good, good packaging (missing a piece, will get to that later) and the unit itself was very solid. I decided to charge the battery first, which took nearly 8 hours to fully charge. The next day i began the setup which was super easy and I got the cam working in like minutes. I tested it prior to mounting and it worked.I did notice however one mounting plate was NOT included in the package. It wasn't the one i needed, so I was not that concerned. I mounted the cam, which took less than 5 minutes, and thats were the problems started. Live View would work, however the doorbell and motion detection would not. I reset everything, and then I got the doorbell to work, but still no motion detection, and now live view would not load. I decide the contact the "chat" on Ring's website. I chatted with someone and did all of the normal stuff. Pull the battery, cover the cam for 1 minute, reset the cam. Nothing worked. Then I had to test my wifi signal, which he said was weak. I had over 60mb download, however that was "weak" i guess. He then had me redo the app and add the cam again. At that point the cam stopped working all together, and just had a spinning blue light. He said yes, it was broken and to send it back to Ring. They said it would take 5-14 business days to get another one??? I pulled it off and returned to Best Buy. I decided to give another unit a chance. Since i already had 4 holes in my door, i might as well. I thought I maybe I just had a lemon. Well get the new one home and the bottom screw that secures the faceplate to the unit is missing. I still go ahead and test this one, and it appears to be working. Well i mount it on my door and everything was so laggy it was unusable. the live view would only work every other time, or most times count time out or not even load. The motion sensor work a few times, but most times would not pick me waking to my door. The door bell would only work 1 out of every 5 times. So i reset and did all of that with the same results. I then thought it must be my wifi or my phone. I am only 15 feet from the router, but moved it so it was directly behind the door. I reinstalled the app, and put one on my iPad, and another iPhone. same results. Back to Best Buy it went This new Ring 2 should not have been released yet. There are not only issues with the hardware, there are QC issues with missing parts. When i returned the Ring, the nice woman at customer service indicated that this was the 6th one this week and the product had only been out for 8 days. The other girl said she has 4 returned too. Poor QC and this product was clearly rushed to market.

Didn't work with Samsung Galaxy 7

After reading reviews of this product I had high hopes for an easy set-up process. As it turned out, I invested about 4 hours trying to get it to work but to no avail. I've read online (too late) that people who own the Samsung Galaxy 7 may have problems with this doorbell. I followed all of the directions and the Ring Video Doorbell 2 set up fine in my Ring account. The process completed fully. I then added the Ring Chime to the account, and again the app said I had successfully installed it. The problem is that while I had installed everything correctly, the phone app and doorbell never actually worked together right. Upon ringing the doorbell I received a notification that the doorbell had rung. I clicked the notification and opened the app which opened a video conversation. At that point, I have a choice with a green icon to answer the doorbell or red icon to hang up. Two additional icons show whether you are muted or not. In my case, I was not muted (no line through the microphone icon) and I clicked the green icon to answer the phone. On the first try I could hear my wife, who had rung the doorbell, but she could not hear me. I could see her in the video image, I could hear her, but she could not hear me speaking to my phone app which should have come through the doorbell. I hung up. Then the Ring doorbell does it's thing for about 2 minutes. The blue light circles for about a minute, then it flashes for about a minute. You can't do anything while that blue light is flashing so you just have to wait until it's done. On the second try, my wife heard me for about 2 seconds. Then it turned off again. I could hear her, she could not hear me. Blue circle again, blue flashes for two minutes. Wash, rinse, repeat! (On a separate note--how would the person ringing the doorbell have any idea what those flashing, circling blue lights mean? Wouldn't they just keep pressing the doorbell hoping someone answers it? That lag is ridiculous!) After repeating that cycle 5 times I contacted customer support through their chat. While very friendly and patient, they could not solve the problem within about 90 minutes. During that time we uninstalled the app from my phone, we messed with the data and wifi connections, various permissions required by the software, and we went through the entire setup process a couple of times and the net result was always the same. The audio for the Ring Video Doorbell 2 simply does not work with the Galaxy 7. Videos of the conversations are stored online (free for 30 days). I reviewed these after deciding to quit the project and return the product. Sure enough, the videos show that sometimes the Ring doorbell could hear me--sometimes it could only hear my wife. At no point was it ever able to establish two-way communication. I've read about people who had previous versions of the Galaxy and that the Ring worked fine with those but stopped working with the Galaxy 7. Considering the Galaxy 7 is one of the more popular phones in the world it seems odd that Ring would not work with it but apparently that's the problem. I very much wanted this product to work but it just doesn't.

My sister and I installed my Ring 2 doorbell really easily. I was impressed with the ease of installation. We were not able to install it using my existing doorbell wiring because the space where my doorbell sits is not wide enough so I purchased two chimes to go in different areas of the house. While that was a disappointment, I have a wood frame beside the door, so we used the screwdriver which was provided to screw the doorbell holder to the wood frame. The level was also included to ensure that the holder was level. We screwed the Ring 2 to the holder and I thought that we were in business. The problem started when she stayed outside so that we could test the doorbell for motion and visibility. While I cold see her clearly on my phone and I could hear most of what she was saying, she couldn’t hear me. I moved around in the house and there were “spots” from which she could hear me. After playing with it for a while, I cried uncle and thought that maybe it would be better on day two. While at work, I got notified that there was motion at my door. The first was the mailman so no need for me to communicate with him. The second was my brother and again while I could see him, he could not hear me. He later told me that he heard something muffled but he couldn’t understand what I was saying. That night I called support and got connected with someone who asked to be added to my account to allow him to tap into my system. He asked for my phone number in case we got disconnected. He sent me outside (in the snow) to check the communication. He initially told me that he could hear me and I did hear him some but he told me that when he played back our conversation he realized that the connection was not clear. He sent me outside again to remove the cover plate from the ring. This required my standing in the snow to unscrew the screw on the bottom of the plate to remove the cover. When I got back to the phone, he was gone AND NO CALL BACK. WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR REQUESTING MY NUMBER IN THE EVENT THAT THE CALL WAS DISCONNECTED? Over the weekend I went two days without being able to connect to the ring. Call me disappointed. Today I came in and took the Ring 2 down and I will be returning it along with the two chimes and the two motion activated cameras which I bought for the back of the house back to Best Buy.

I made the grave mistake of deciding to upgrade from the original Ring [720p] device to this one. The improvements that made me want to upgrade were the removable battery (with option to buy an extra battery) -- this meant that I didn't have to take the whole Ring unit down for a day to recharge and then re-mount it every few months. Instead, you could hot-swap the batteries and there's no gaps in security coverage; improved resolution to 1080p from 720p; and they advertised an improved viewing angle -- basically the lens had been improved to offer a larger viewing area, o instead of just seeing the top halves of people you can pretty much see top-to-bottom of your entry way. After upgrading, I found the video contrast is terrible. Videos are A LOT darker and harder to make out than the 720p model. Given, both Rings [old and new] were mounted in breezeways at apartments, but the contrast and brightness of video was incredibly richer on the 720p model than the 1080p. When viewing video on the 1080p model, it appears almost like there's a sun shade or something over the camera that's obstructing light. Videos still aren't time stamped which presents issues when trying to organize videos (videos are timestamped on your iPhone by the day they were downloaded NOT the day they were recorded and videos do not have actual time stamps on them which makes it hard to use them in court if need be). Also, my new Ring came with a free trial to the cloud services for storing video. WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR CONSENT, Ring switched my subscription from my 720p model over to the new 1080p model and decommissioned my 720p model's subscription. This means I lost ALL of the video that was recorded under my Ring 720p device. An incident ended up happening where I needed videos from back over a year ago that were on that 720p device for court, and I am now out ALL of that video data as Ring was only able to go back 60 days from the date I contacted them which the videos I needed spanned over the course of a year. I am now having to file a lawsuit without critical evidence and hoping for the best. To-date, Ring has done NOTHING to make the right outside of saying "oops, sorry!"

I purchased the Ring 2 during cyber Monday thinking this was a product I can’t live without. My son has one and several friends as well. I should have read the 1 and 2 Star reviews first, but seeing an overall rating of 4+ stars convicted me to go forward with the purchase. I was impressed with all the hardware and even the tool for the installation. Luckily, I have an existing doorbell so I was assuming installation would be a breeze. I followed the instructions installed the doorbell and proceeded to setup the network process. After connecting it to the network, I tried to watch a live feed. That didn’t work. It couldn’t connect even with an RSSI of -50. After rsearching issues and trying to identify a solution, I decided to remove the doorbell, bring it inside and configure it right next to the router. I finally got it to work and feed a live picture. I then reinstalled it outside again and that seemed to correct the picture feed issues. Now that we have used the doorbell for 1 week, I have found that it won’t record until after there has been motion activity for about 5-10 seconds. Then the length of the recording very limited to a few seconds. (10-18 sec). The other day, UPS delivered a package and it never even triggered. Other times delivery people have come up and dropped off a package and they are off the porch and almost gone before the recording and alert goes off. Totally unacceptable !!! I’ve had to rely on our other security camera to identify what was going on during these events and to get a clear picture of the entire situation. Very disappointed in the sluggishness of the alerts, the shortness of the recordings and the lack of notifications and false positives it gives. I should just return it and get my money back.

I have been using Ring DoorBell 2 for last 4 months and can say with confidence that it is not the perfect product as advertised. Few issues: 1.) Lack of controls: You can not control the volume of the doorbell that the outside person hears. It's too loud and monotonous 2.) Poor audio: Volume for the outside person is very low and makes it really difficult to hear. Again, there is no way to increase it 3.) Poor connectivity: Live view has never worked for me. Everytime I hit the live view button, it gets stuck complaining "phone couldn't connect to the ring". Customer support says that the network/wifi strength is not strong enough at the Ring. I installed a mesh router close to the door, wifi signal strength is ~100MbPS at the Ring but still live view does not work. 4.) Motion sensor is too sensitive: I have set the motion sensor settings at minimum (5 feet zone) but it still picks-up vehicles passing through the street (>20 feet away from the door) 5.) Very poor battery life: My biggest complaint is the battery life. They advertise it to be 180 days (~6 months) but even with the least sensitive settings I have never seen battery lasting >25 days. We hardly have any visitors pressing the door-bell so I am not sure where my battery is going. 6.) Poor interface: This is very stupid and naive of the interface developers. Camera always opens in horizontal mode on phone but app always opens and operates in vertical mode. So you have to hold the phone vertical to look at /control from the app but turn horizontal when camera/recorded videos open. So you are in this cycle of turning phone vertical/horizontal when you are going through the footage recorded in the cloud. Simply careless design.

I purchased this doorbell in June. It has never worked correctly yet. I get motion activation notice long after the event happens. I leave my house, walk the driveway, get in my truck and pull out of the driveway before it activates and sends a notice to my phone. After repeated calls and emails to tech support nothing has been fixed. First I was told it was my wifi and I needed to get a chime pro to make it work. I purchased an extender. Still no help. Then I was told that it couldn't read it through my brick. I moved my router to within 15 ft and a clear path to door bell. Even with the door open, the doorbell had difficulty connecting to my router. Each time I contacted Tech Support, the would start the process all over again telling me to remove and reset, uninstall app and reinstall, all the things I had already done. To top it all off, they kept calling me Jake...even after I repeatedly told them my name was Steve. I can read my wifi on my phone outside far away from my router. When I mentioned this to tech support, they told me that I was trying to compare an $800 phone to a $200 doorbell. C'mon....really? A $200 doorbell should work with the router without any additional items to buy. If it requires other stuff, say that upfront so that people aren't lured into the hassles of getting a refund.

I bought two ring2's. Immediately, one battery was defective. Ring sent me a new battery. Then one of the doorbells started locking up, not functioning. Called Ring, and they said Ring2 requires 2 mbps upload speed. This is not stated on the box or anywhere on the website. The original ring doorbell only requires 1 mbps. I was getting about 1.5 mbps using either speedtest.net or bandwidthplace.com (ring's preferred speed app). At the time, the ring app said anything over 1 mbps was ok, so ring clearly had not adjusted their app for the ring 2. I upgraded internet speed so i was getting over 2 mbps, around 2.5. The same doorbell failed again when my upload speed dipped near 2.0. Called ring again and they could not explain why the product's box does not say anything about requiring 2 mbps upload, not does their website. All this time, the other ring2 has been working ok, so I believe the problematic doorbell has an integral problem that ring will not fix or replace. Nothing but excuses from ring and no explanation of why they don't provide notice of the 2 mbps minimum requirement anywhere. They won't send a replacement doorbell. I believe there is wide quality variance in their product because the one doorbell works ok and the other is glitchy and fails. All this happened over a few days, during which the best buy rating fell from 4.2 to 3.9, as i was not the only one having problems with the ring2. As well, two days after i pointed out their app said over 1 mbps was ok, it has now been changed to indicate the ring2 needs higher speed. Ring is now fixing/covering their failure to adequately vet their product and prepare for its release. Their customer service is sorely inadequate and they back their product very poorly. Good luck to you if you purchase a ring product. I hope you don't spend $200 like i did and get stuck with a defective product sold by a company who does not care about their customers. This is not a reflection on best buy, i have had nothing but good service at best buy.

If you are currently a satisfied Ring Doorbell (generation 1) user and are interested in upgrading to Ring Doorbell 2 - I would definitely advise you to pass this up and stick with the original. After 2 days of messing around with the Ring Doorbell 2, including expensive upgrade of my wifi infrastructure - I'm returning it. I have been very happy with my original Ring. I decided to add a second Ring, and purchased the Ring 2 to install in place of the original Ring so that I could move the first generation doorbell to a second location. I was looking forward to the improved motion detection and video quality that I had read about. Unfortunately I was disappointed to find that the Ring 2 works sporadically at best. I found that it works great right after you set it up, but then very quickly stops alerting for motions and rings as well as not working with live view. I have troubleshooted quite a lot (including resets and reinstalls) as well as even deciding to finally invest in upgrading my wifi infrastructure. Unfortunately, even with the snazy new expensive wifi infrastucture, the same connection problems persist. Meanwhile, the original Ring Doorbell is still working like a champ. I have to say, I wished that I had saved myself the headache by reading the reviews and seeing that connection problems are not uncommon.

Very disappointed with this product. I have 1 gigabit internet in our house. So at our front door, even though it's down a floor from where our router is, our phones speed test shows a 90-95mbps download speed on the wifi network . This doorbell is worthless. Most of the time when it's rung, I don't get a notification. If I do, I open it on my app and there is just sound and no video. The video is black. On the rare occasion that I can see the person and I try to talk to them, the volume for the person outside is so low they have a hard time hearing me. Great concept but poor execution by the ring team and if you read reviews of ALL of their doorbell models and the ring app review in the App Store, you will see that hundreds of people have these issues. Will be returning and getting a nest outdoor cam instead, as Those do a great job of notifying you about motion and you can talk through them too! Spare yourself the time wasted with their customer service on the phone and buy a product that works out of the box instead.

Long lag time, false alarms and poor video

I specifically bought the Ring 2 over the Ring because of the 1080p vs the 720p video quality and the custom zones. However images of people in the shaded cover of the front door are washed out while the background in the sunlight are much brighter and clearer. This is known problem since 2016 and they are still "working on it"...https://twitter.com/ring/status/733725119072239616?lang=en Terrible lag time to start recording for people sized objects. Most recording of people don't begin until the visitor is walking away from the door even though the range is set at 25' and there is a 3' high gate 20' way from the front door that people have to stop and open before proceeding. Too many false alarms from vehicle traffic 50-60' away in the street. Emailed tech support many times and tried their fixes that didn't work. Their first defence was that the distance to the router had to be less than 40'. My router is 18' away from the door bell with a window in the only wall between the two. You can literally see the router while standing at the door through the window. The router speed tests exceeds their requirements. No explanation or fix on the long lag time. I'm sorry I didn't keep the box so I could return it. Lesson learned

    Story of the disappearing package

We still haven’t “found” the missing package but the experience spurred me in to buying a doorbell camera. I almost went for the less expensive version 1 but with the holiday sales, v2 seemed like the way to go. Went home to install and I’m glad I read other reviews prior to installation and drilling holes. For whatever the reason, whether it’s my home’s WiFi (Verzion Fios Quantum - just saying) or the camera’s internals, or my router settings, it just doesn’t work consistently. Sure maybe my tech guru brother can get it working but even he said it sounded like it would take him an hour. Live View vs motion detection, seem to conflict with each other, is it the motion sensor or camera IDK, and now live view would not load. Pull the battery, cover the cam for 1 minute, reset the cam. Nothing. Spinning blue light. I’m done. I got the motion sensor work a few times, but most times would not pick me waking to my door. Which is wide open with low growing shrubs. Should be easy to detect the delivery man coming to the door - which is the whole purpose for me. Back to Best Buy it went. Paid cash so at least I don’t have to “wait” 3-4 days for a refund back to a card.

I purchased the door bell 2 work ok but not 100% called ring they said that I needed to purchase a extender doorbell extender one could not hear and the range was poor with VIDEO distortion sometimes blank video. Then I purchased the flood light CAMERA! This proved to be to much called ring again I spent 9 hours working with a PROFESSIONAL Installer. I got a lot of customers service like I meaning the PROFESSIONAL Installer was going to call make sure I was satisfied followed by an email! YEA RIGHT NO CALL NO EMAIL! UNTIL I POST MY REVIEW ON SITE JABBERS I Immediately Got an email from Corp looking at all the other complaints on sitejabber I got a standard email that is sent to all complaints. After talking to the corporate office they came up with a fix for 50.00 witch I had to pay for never mind all the mental Anguish this system put me through it didn't fix the problem! I have made this my mission to worn every one thinking of purchasing a ring door bell NOT TO. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME GO TO WWW.SITEJABBER.COM AND LOOK AT REAL REVIEWS YOU ARE BETTER OFF GOING WITH A HARD WIRE SYSTEM, AND IF YOU STILL WANT ONE I WILL SELL YOU MINE......

It may not be fair to give this a 1 star. After all, it does work. Just poorly. And in this world of technology one can only rate things by comparison. We install these sort of things for a living and this thing doesn't compare to the Hello Nest Doorbell which I would give a 5 to. If someone rings you on the Ring Video doorbell., be prepared to tell the visitor 1st to put their lips close to the camera when speaking. The audio is unheard otherwise. Also prepare to ask them to repeat themselves many times because the audio and video will both be choppy. No such issues with the Hello Nest Doorbell. Installed in the same location by the way. Same distance from the WiFi. Don't buy ring. Buy Nest. We have installed many Nest Thermostats, Smoke / Carbon detectors, Door Locks (Don't buy August) and now Doorbells and all Nest products work awesomely. For lights, Phillips Hue is the ticket. Save yourself the disappointment and don't buy Ring or August.

Out of the box and review of the RING DOORBELL 2 started promising. Lovely wide angle colored video. Easy to connect to WiFi and iPhone Application. Then we attempted to try it out; sounds coming from doorbell, my voice, was garbled and hard to understand although I could hear the person outside clearly on my phone app. Then, the video switched from color to black and white. Neither the instructions in the box or on the application showed how to fix either the sound or picture trouble. Google comments suggesting removing the doorbell from the app. and resetting the doorbell. After hitting the reset button I was no longer able to connect to the app. It was quite frustrating and promptly returned. Unfortunate because I had received a 10% Birthday Discount which saved us $20 on the purchase which I lost upon returning the product.

Has not worked for me very well since day 1. After turning the sensitivity all the down I would still get multiple false notifications for the motion detection. I finally just turned off motion and just wanted to use the camera for live views. Well live view rarely works. Maybe 1 out of 10 times it actually shows me the live view. When it does work the person is usually already gone. Don't even get me started on how they upload every video but make you pay $3 monthly to view your own video when they don't even offer you the option to store it locally (such as on an sd card). My very cheap $25 indoor cameras give you 24 hrs of free viewing of uploaded videos and most importantly when I want to see live view, they actually show me the live view which my expensive Ring is unable to do. I'm sure they would blame my network but again my cheap cameras always show live view even when I'm on a cellular network with my phone and I'm lucky if Ring will show me even when I'm connected to same home network! I was very excited for this purchase and have been nothing but disappointed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

    Terrible Doorbell!!!

First off, This is not as easy as they make it out in the video. I have spent countless hours trying to set it up properly & it acts up when I look at a Live View & it's delay in a person move of about 6-10 seconds & when you move in the picture/video, it starts becoming fuzzy. It's even hard to disconnect from the video sometimes. I've been told by a Best Buy employee & by a friend that it's not more in likely my home network/router that is causing the problem which would make somewhat sense. So after exchanging this twice from thinking that I had faulty doorbells, I bought another & one of the Best Buy employees told me what I needed to do to fix my router issue. So, I did exactly what he had written down & it still not working! I am FED UP with this. I have bought 4 doorbells, hoping that they would work but they did not. Ring should have something in their package deal with Best Buy so when you buy their product, they come & set this up for you, so you don't get a NIGHTMARE FULL OF a HEADACHE. If Best Buy/Ring can send someone out now to help it going, that would be GREAT. Otherwise, all 4 of these are going BACK.

Never connects to my front door when away from hom

Bought this along with a ring security system to gain some piece of mind when I'm away from home, which we are for extended periods of time. The security system seems to work well, but the video doorbell is terrible. If I weren't away from home for a few months, I'd uninstall it and return it. I will say that when home, I could connect to the doorbell albeit a bit slowly. Too slow to actually respond to anyone at the door, however. When away, I get multiple notices of motion at my front door every day, but when I try to view the events or just connect to a live view, I get nothing but a black screen. I installed 200mb internet at my away location thinking that was the issue, but no help - just a black screen and/or a spinning wheel with the "Activating Device" notice. Now, all the chimed notices I get from Ring just remind me of what I mistake I made.
