Pro is the way to go!

I got both the ring doorbell 2 and this pro edition with chime . I was originally nervous about WiFi reaching the unit so that is why I got the chime bundle but I am getting great results without needing the chime ! The camera has a fish eye lense that sees down the entire street even though the camera is facing straight . Night quality is great too! I am pleased . Only downfall is needing to subscribe to view recorded video . But I’m content with using the live view and motion settings and have no intention to pay a ridiculous service fee

We have been thinking about adding the video doorbell, and after reading so many reviews online, we decided to go with this bundle when it was on sale for $199. We totally love it everything about it! Can't wait catch whoever letting their dogs poop on our yard/driveway and not cleaning up after them LOL One thing though, make sure your transformer is at least 16v and puts on 20VA. We had to correct that after ours keep losing power. After that, it was all solid with great power source. Great product!

After the wife and I discussed options to switch to, to venture away from our current security setup....finally decided on Ring. We purchased 2 Ring Floodlight Cams and 1 Ring Doorbell Pro. We enjoy the motion notifications, the ability to instantly see the surroundings, 2 way talk, and being able to share saved videos of suspicious acivity with anyone.

    Camera feature, Installation, Set up

I rarely leave reviews, but this product is SO amazing that I just have to share my happiness with other people. After having the Skybell for over a year, we decided it was finally time to throw in the towel. We were always having constant issues with the Skybell's motion sensor... you could stand right in front of our doorbell camera, do jumping jacks, and it would record absolutely NOTHING! After many troubleshoots and a lot of frustration, we finally decided to exchange the Skybell for the Ring Doorbell and Chime Pro. Thank god for Best Buy's Geek Squad Protection. It allowed us to return the defective doorbell, and exchange it for this new MAGNIFICENT device. The audio and video on the Ring Pro is so clear and crisp. The motion sensor is amazing! It works, almost too good lol. Which I am not complaining about! You can adjust the sensitivity and select certain "zones" that you'd like to have motion picked up and recorded from. It comes with 4 different colored faceplates, that you can choose from to match the color of your home. It comes with 2 different wedge base plates to accommodate different angles for your front door, which we had to purchase separately when we had the Skybell. It comes with a masonry bit for easy installation into brick. The install and set up is so easy that a caveman can do it! Thank you again for making such an AMAZING product Ring! I will most certainly be adding more devices to our Ring family in the near future!

My first doorbell camera... Installation was pretty straightforward. Plenty of instructions (and a video) made it a snap. All the tools and multiple faceplates are included (exceeded my expectations). Chime Pro (included) is pretty darn cool too. The app has plenty of features allowing customization in ways you'd expect and a few were pleasantly surprising. (like ignoring when your across-the-street neighbors come-and-go from your motion detecting) Love it!

Wish I would’ve bought this sooner. The only reason why I waited because my doorbell location is facing toward the side of neighbor home. I bought a angle mount now I can see down my entire walkway and into the street. I like how I can see outside without having to get up. Overall it’s pretty good but not excellent.

    Good Quality Doorbell But

I have the original Ring Doorbell, the Floodlight Cam and now the Ring Video Pro doorbell. The Pro is great during the day but for some reason at night it is very blurry. Tech support turned off night time color mode remotely which did not improve the blurry video. My other two Ring devices don't seem to have this problem.

I've been looking at video doorbell's for quite some time and with our masonry exterior and door trim only the Doorbell Pro would be an ideal fit (and look the best based on it's slim form factor). I had an original NuTone doorbell installed probably with the house back in the 60's with two wired locations (front door and garage service door. Of course it was on a 16V transformer....knowing this would be an issue I immediately upgraded to a 24V before installing. The 1st doorbell was installed when I replaced my front door / threshold, etc. (Back in November 2019). Created my Ring account, powered up doorbell, scanned QR code, setup bell. It connected and worked for a day....then disconnected (the doorbell chime which came with this kit is still working to this day...no issues....). Contacted Ring Support...went through power cycle, held reset for 30 seconds, waited one minute, etc., doorbell never came back online (dead, no power, lights, nothing). Replaced under warranty. 2nd doorbell worked till last week (February 2020). Now 2nd doorbell same thing occurred (simply went dead yesterday off WIFI). No lights, nothing. Transformer works fine, doorbell through second switch (service door) works fine, Chime Pro still online on network. Contacted Ring Support, 3rd one now being shipped....should have next week.... This is a great doorbell when it works, motion is spot on (just humans...not cars), night vision is simply incredible, and app works well when people are at my front door....I'm a little disappointed in the reliability....I have yet to own this for one year and going on my 3rd bell in a little less than 5 months of use.....

First one lasted about a month then all a sudden wouldn't connect to my Wi-Fi. Did every possible reset/fix. Fortunately I had a longer return window Becuz of Xmas. Otherwise would of been screwed. Hopefully no issues with this one. At 1month exactly at time of writing this sooo we shall see. I think motion detection is really good and detection zones are Very customizable. I only have the Arlo 720p cameras as a comparison to this

I was looking at all available doorbells, decided to go with the Ring, since I got the alarm as well. Comes with 4 color bezels (black, silver, beige and brown), chime, angle shims all tools and bits and pieces, even drill bit - drill not included. Installation is straight forward, video online could not be easier. Connected to my WiFi no problem, up and running within 20min. What I like: - 1 subscription along with alarm, no extra fee - looks good and I know of action in front of door before someone is pressing the button - person detection - all though requires premium subscription What I don't: - bell rings inside with a delay - notification sound is annoying, with fairly high traffic in front of my door it is a major annoyance - thankfully can filter it down to actual door rings I use regular bell for inside notification, no chime. I wish chime would as well double back as alarm extender.

Not reliable security system - Offline Issues

    Posted .

I have tried two of these devices and I am about to give up on them. The first device that I got, had lot of issues with the microphone. I could not hear anything due to the noise coming out from the cellphone. It was like hearing an old radio. Ring.com customer service recommended me to change the device, so I did. The second device I got, keeps being offline (See attached picture). This is suppose to be a $270 security system not a Fisher-Price toy to see who is at the door. The doorbell is placed about 12 feet from my Linksys WRT3200ACM Wireless Router. I am connecting using 2.4GHz band, which is supposed to have a longer range. If I place my phone, with the door closed next to the doorbell, I get 21.9 Mbps download speed and 10.8 upload speeds (see pictures). To me this should be enough to be able to connect to the device. Ring.com customer service told me that the issue is my network and that I could not compare the antenna of a cellphone/laptop that cost $1,000 dollars to the antenna of a doorbell that cost $270. Another recommendation, was to exchange the wifi model for the wired model that cost $499 and that uses PoE. At that price range, I wonder if I should look for a more reliable security system. I will contact Ring.com again. So far I am about to give up and return this device.

    Hookup instructions poor

    |
    Posted .

The instructions assume you own a doorbell with a simple old fashioned ring tone. Anything with chimes has a very different wiring schematic and will not match up to the Ring doorbell. This should be a half hour installation and I have spent hours trying as well as talking to electricians at 2 home goods stores that sell the device. They had no idea. Will have to hire an electrician and may have to change out the chimes.

    Good video quality

    Pros mentioned:
Camera feature, Set up, Video quality

I went with the pro because I had a wired doorbell I was ready to replace. Wiring the camera outside was so easy. The new connector type for the inside bell was really easy to install too. My older doorbell was only 8 years old. My downside is after a month you're required to pay a monthly fee of $4 to have recordings. Else it's just a live camera you log into when alerts come through. The 3 sensor zones helped me work around an awkward view of having a moving flag and shrubs that were kicking off the motion sensor prior to setting. The video quality was excellent at day and night. I didn't need the Chime pro that came with the unit due to a strong wifi signal.

    Easy Set-Up, Quality Video

    Pros mentioned:
    Set up, Video quality

This doorbell is so great! The ease of installation just blew me away. I am a woman in my thirties with very little electrical wiring experience and was able to remove my old doorbell, install the new one and have it all working in about 30 minutes' time. The app and directions walked me step by step through the process and it works perfectly. The performance of this doorbell is highly dependent on having a good wifi connection, so the Chime Pro really comes in handy to boost signal to avoid choppy video and frustration. The chime makes a pleasant sound when Ring senses movement in my designated motion zones. The four colors of faceplates included are an added bonus so you can color coordinate with your house color. I mounted this on a light fixture mounting block (found at Home Depot for $5) to get a nice flush installation. I really cannot say enough great things about this bundle. Don't wait!

    Pros mentioned:
    Video quality
    Cons mentioned:
    Delay

I purchased the pro because I didn’t want to mess with replacing batteries. Our house was built in the early 90’s & the intercom system was no longer working, which also meant no front doorbell. So I used the resistor from the intercom system along w/the existing wires to install. I had to cut & paint a metal plate for the existing metal box in the mortar from the previous intercom system. I can’t recall if Ring offers a universal plate or not, but i believe they do not. If you do a google search on how to install this product w/an old intercom system you will be told it’s not compatible, which it isn’t (at least to communicate over the system speakers) but you CAN use the resistor & existing wires. It’s really not that difficult. I gave it a 4 star only because of the “subscription service” you must sign up for (at an additional subscription cost) to replay any earlier recorded video/motion at the front door. We have cameras installed which I can play back, so this wasn’t of value to me. Secondly the video they capture is on THEIR servers to do with what they want. I’ve read news articles of Ring using these videos inappropriately, but I’ve also seen where they provided great footage of potential crimes & can be easily shared w/the community. So, this is a user by user option & is a choice. The ring still works as a video doorbell w/o the subscription. The delay in answering or communicating to someone at your front door is negligible & really unnoticeable. I like that you can adjust the motion at the front door to minimize false alarms. The motion grid is very flexible & can be manipulated in so many different ways that it would be impossible not to set it up to eliminate false alarms. Lastly my install had to go on the wall beside our front door, which the ring would be facing to the side of house vs outward to the front or street. The package came with plastic “wedges” of varying colors to match the front plate of Ring. I actually ordered & installed a different wedge from Amazon as it was adjustable gave more flexibility to set the best angle. You can see an image of the install below. Hope this review helps w/any questions.
