Worked for two days.....now I have a sign on my door “knock loudly bell not working” Ring have been in touch with numerous emails back and forth, I’ll keep you posted if and when it gets back in action ( btw it’s not our WiFi as we have a super fast package) seems to ‘not be getting enough power to the ring’......if you google this it is a known problem.

Horrible Video Quality, Stay with Ring 2

    |
    Posted .

I started out with the Ring 2 and I had no issues. I "upgraded" a few days later on Black Friday when the Pro went on sale. At first everything was fine but then the video would become pixelated and the audio choppy, and only when there was movement. If I would just look at live video with nothing moving, everything looked great. I reported this to tech support and they were very patient but could not solve the issue at the time and offered to send out a Chime Pro, suggesting that this would help. After receiving and installing the Chime Pro I made another call to tech support for the same issue. This time it was suggested again that my Wifi was to blame, although the speed and stability was fine and we can stream videos all day long without an issue. I have now purchased an a new router, WiFi extender, and setup a Mesh network and I am still having the same issue. I really wish I would have stayed with the older unit and could take this one back.

    Could be better

I installed this door bell and another one for the same matter + 2 stick-up cams... I had to call support twice; each time there was a waiting period which is fine up to an extent. While on hold you get to hear a male voice speaking about him, about his wife, about how big of an inventor he is... OK! Once this loop tape starts over you wish you were on hold with any other company playing their odd songs... The tech support lady was hilarious... She said something like "If you have a 24 V transformer this is great because 8V will go to the standard model and 16V will go to the PRO model"... This is how much knowledge these people have... The three stars are basically for bad support, the annoying speech while on hold and for the fact that the system does not allow customization in the way you interact with the alleged intruder. Example: You drive and there is traffic noise; person at your door... You communicate, but at that point it's obvious you're not home... You might say: Great but at least he/she is on camera... Right, but only to walk away and get back, knowing the house is empty and wearing a mask, hood and so on... For this instance, it would be nice to have the option of pre-recorded messages, giving the alleged intruder the true feeling that someone is home. Same if you don't want to be disturbed; you should have the option to send a message like: "Please leave" or "Cops are on their way or whatever you want"... The list of improvements can go on and on, but I'm not the inventor, nor am I going to get paid for my ideas... My conclusion is that it's a work in progress and it's far from perfect.

I was very excited about this Doorbell. I loved the idea of having boundaries for motion alerts. Problem was the motion alerts were either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Also the live view would only work part of the time. It was frustrating enough that I took it back. There are some bugs that still need to be worked out.

    Delay

Before buying this product you want to do all your research. In my case it worked out really well with no issue. Had it for 4 days and will update soon. You must have a fast internet connection for it to work correctly. I have 300 Down and 50 UP. The upload speed is important. If you have the minimum requirement do not buy.I have a dedicated 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the dooorbell also.I configure my router to support doorbell Pro and made it work efficient with no issue. I didn't take any chance on the 2.4 GHz. I don't think it's a big deal but there is a delay for doorbell because it trying to ring your phone first before it rings the doorbell. The connection to my phone is incredible with no issue or delay outside on the phone network. Based on the angle that I have my Doorbell Pro I don't have any issue with motion sensor because it's only looking at a wall and a cover pretty much the whole hallway. I took a big risk buying this product knowing I may have to return it back if it didn't work out. After reviewing all the review online it seems a lot of people have slow internet connection. This is the reason why a lot of people are giving a negative a review on this item. I also noticed in the new update lets you do live view on your phone.I think the old model works best for people with slow internet speed because it's not as high as resolution as you see on the new Pro. If the company can let you pick your resolution on this new doorbell Pro it would work a lot better for everyone. (Ex 480p, 720p and 1080p) I would only recommend this product to a friend that has high internet speed The only concern that I have it's always hot. I'm not sure if it's going to stand up to the Texas weather. I'll be back in 2 weeks to update!!! 6/22/2016 Do not buy if you have a slow upload speed It's been a month since I updated my review on Ring Video Doorbell Pro. I have ran into some issues where for a split second of the recording it shows a grey pictures then it goes back to the video but not to the point where it's a big problem Out of all the doorbells that you can buy with video on the internet. This product is still the best out of all of them. If you're still uncertain about this model I would recommend buying the old model that has really positive review. It works every time when someone rings the doorbell also when they enter into the door way. On my router I have an option to keep track of how many megabytes it uses every day. so far it's been really consistent between 550 - 750 MB a day. I'm pretty sure this is due to all the upload of the video that it takes. Especially when we do a two way conference. It does take a lot of bandwidth to do. You want to make sure you have the best upload speed as possible in your area. I would definitely recommend 8 or higher on upload speed I was playing with the upload speed for a while it seems anything less than 5 upload I was having issue. Also I give it Priority for the upload within the router. Meaning if anyone ring the doorbell it's going to use a hundred percent of the upload speed and take away from every other device in the house. If someone has to ring the doorbell most likely I wouldn't be home so it's not a big deal for me to give it first priority out of all the device. Based on what you can buy today on the internet this still gets a 5 out of 5

I have had nothing but problems. I paid $50 for the Ring tech to install. The camera did not work. Geek Squad came out. Replaced the Ring. Still did not work. He said I did not have enough download speed with AT&T. I changed to Comcast for more speed. Talked to a Ring tech for a very long time. Rebooted it numerous times. Motion detector still does not work. Camera works sometimes. I am very disappointed in this product.

Needs some improvement on camera connectivity

    Posted .

When I first bought it was great. After owning the camera a few months, I started having issues. I was getting a black screen on live view, and the camera would also go offline. I called Ring for help, and I was informed the internet speed was too slow, I need to upgrade to faster speeds in other to work. At the time, I already had 25mbps download speeds and about 6 or 7 in upload speeds. I eventually upgraded to 100mbps and continue to have problems. Called Ring back several times and they gave me the run around each time. First telling me it was my internet speed, router, need to get a WIFI extender, doorbell transformer, it was the brick around the house causing the issue, or sometimes I would get an answer saying I don't see anything wrong. Eventually, they gave in and sent me a refurbished camera on top of it. Once I received the camera, I installed it and right of the back I noticed the camera was producing an over exposed video quality. Called Ring back and again I was repeatedly told nothing was wrong with the camera by several representatives. I was told I had to show them footage of the old camera quality V.S the new refurbished. I told them all my footage was deleted once I installed the camera they sent. In others words, they called me a liar. Luckily, I was able to find an old footage recording and gave to them. Now, I'm actually fixing to install the second refurbished camera that was sent to me today. Let's see how well that goes. They have horrible customer service! Dont get me wrong they start off very nicely, and after they can't find a solution, they start to get frustrated with the customer.

After initial setup issues, I love it.

    Camera feature, Installation, Safety

My family gets a lot of packages in the mail, and with the news frequently highlighting package thefts from front doors, I decided on getting a Ring Doorbell especially hearing great things from podcasts. The space where my original door bell is tight, and the Ring Doorbell Pro just barely fits. The actual installation was very easy. It took me about 30 minutes to install it. I could have installed it faster, but I was being very cautious. I wasn’t able to see video on my phone from the Ring Doorbell until after 3 hours. This was after trying to find information from the internet, and talking with Ring Doorbell support person who ignored my questions about what some of the lights meant while I was trying to assist in troubleshooting. He felt that I wasn’t getting enough power to the Ring Doorbell, but he was incorrect. After waiting for 3 hours, and worrying that I would need to give up and take it back to the store, I was able to see video after the doorbell was pressed. My door is slightly recessed into the wall, so my original door bell was also recessed. Unfortunately this causes a tunnel view for the Ring Doorbell camera. It still works, but at night the infrared gets reflected by the wall back into the camera lens. This reflection makes me concern that I won’t be able to see people clearly at night. This isn't a camera flaw, and I only pointing this out to alert others whose original door bell is also recessed in the wall. I am considering seeing if I can find material to absorb some of the IR light to reduce the reflection back into the lens. I love the product after the issues I encountered were resolved (by just waiting). The cloud recording is great, and $30 a year for it seems reasonable. I watched people while I work via the cloud recording ring my doorbell and get a surprised look on their face when they see where the USPS has hidden a package. Unfortunately I haven’t answered my doorbell remotely, because I sometimes leave my phone at my desk at work. I get bummed that I missed answering my door by a few minutes. Currently this is more of a toy for me, because where I live is relatively safe and we haven’t had any burglaries in the neighborhood. It gives me a piece of mind that if someone decides to do something, I have video of it. I like the doorbell so much, I am considering getting a Ring Stickup Cam for the backyard.

I bought the Ring Pro a little over a year and a half ago and the button has already cracked. I don’t have a lot of visitors or delivery folks pushing the button either, maybe 2 a week. Looking at the Ring community blog this is a well-known ongoing issue. There are 11 PAGES of complaints from people with the same issue and who received the same manufacturers response. Ring support reminded me the device only has a 1 year warranty but they did offer a 35% discount off full retail for a replacement. I could do better shopping around for it on line. Since I have to replace it anyway I'm going to find something that lasts longer. Also, if this is the quality of their hardware I wouldn't even consider their 'security' products!

    Don't work like it says

    Posted .

I bought the Ring Pro 2 weeks ago. We installed it and the camera didn't work. We tried everything. My husband contacted Ring and they sent us a new one. We installed that one last night, got everything going on it. He rang the door bell to test it and I was getting the notification on my phone, it went to the live camera and I could see him standing on the porch and we talked but when he went into the motion setup and set the zone and right then it stopped showing video. Since then it won't work. He says it's no good, he's tired of trying to get it to work and wants me to return it. I was hoping we could get it working again. If it works like it's supposed to, I would TOTALLY recommend this to a friend but based on what we've learned, no.

    Product Not Ready Needs work

    Pros mentioned:
Camera feature, Set up, Video quality

I have own this device for about a month and to be honest my conclusion is this device is not fully ready for prime it was rushed. Let me start with the good it is small, sleek look, good quality video, sound, multiple cover plates and lot of potential. Now the Bad, let’s start with the installation. Installing the device is not really that hard as the most time consuming will be the actual Setup. Now, as the company stated is a universal that can replace an existing doorbell, yes but some with complications, in my case my old doorbell was install in an electrical box with a plate. The actual Ring Pro it is narrow and long so it will not cover the hole completely, now Ring came up with a Retrofit Kit not included with the device and you have to call them to order it (no charge), they said for the newer ones they will include it. There is still a flaw as the Ring is longer the screws doesn’t align with the electrical box as the length from top to bottom is approximately 4.5in. and the Ring Pro is about 5in. so guess what you have to drill the wall, they should had made the device standard electrical box size at least for the US resale. Next, setting the actual device that was the most stressful part. I have an Asus RT-AC87R router dual band I could not get it connected to the WIFI and I spent multiple hours on the phone to get nowhere. After multiples trouble shooting they will escalate your problem to level 2 support that will not get you anywhere either and you have to wait for them to call or write you by email. To be honest I spent more time on the phone than playing with the actual device and in multiple days. The workaround that I came up with and it work was creating a guest account on my router somehow it connected that way. After that everything went well until I received the retrofit kit and I had to unplug that thing again, then the connectivity issue started over even on the guest account. After I was able to connected it aging and it was back to normal until I find myself I cannot view live feed away from home stuff that I was able to do before, I can only view the live at home on wifi. I get all the notification and all but no live view. One of the reason I bout this was the advertisement that it works with ADT Pulse, that will save me from installing a camera at the door. I went through all the setting I link both account but I don’t see how they work with each other. You are not able to see the Ring camera on the Pulse app and on the Ring app doesn’t show any feature for the Pulse System just an + icon when you looking at the camera that shows a ADT Pulse icon, when you click on it you get an Error. I called 6/1/16 to get help on the problem for the live view and all they did was send me to call my cellphone network provider. The actual support center is very poor, a lot of them doesn’t have any knowledge of the device as the one answer the phone to help with the live view told me that it was only available on Wifi then put me on hold to verify his statement when I told him I was able to do that before LOL. So for those potential buyers I would hold off on it, is not easy to drop 250 pops on a device that doesn’t delivers as promise, it does have potential but right now is not ready. I read those bad reviews and I still got one to see If I was one of the lucky one like those who posted good reviews with 5 stars but I wasn’t. Now I have to take this thing a part install my old doorbell back, cover the new holes I put on the wall, return it, and wait for something else or this one to get better right now this is thing too much hassle for $250. Good luck!

Easy to setup and includes everything needed to do so. I had to buy the extra wedges to adjust the viewing angle and now it's great. 2 things I don't like about it are that it takes a little to load And quit the Live View. Another is that I run a 5Ghz AC network at home, so I setup my 2.4Ghz for the Ring since I don't want to mess with the 5GHZ settings. You can set it up for 5Ghz, but not AC. This is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Other than this, it's a pretty good an reliable doorbell. You can set up motion zones with sensitivity and for 30 dollars a year to record the video is not bad.

They make it look SO easy to install with their videos which is why I bought it but couldn't get mine to work. After almost 2 total hours on the phone with support and running back and forth to different parts of the house, they tell me I need to pay an electrician to install a proper transformer? No. It's getting returned and now I have 2 holes in my stucco where the ring was supposed to go. 1 star for this product! Customer service agents were patient though I'm furious. They need to make it very clear the potential for incompatibility like other companies do. They make it seem like it will work with any and all homes without the mention of powering issues. My home was built in 2001 for reference.

    Front Door Spy

    Installation, Set up, Video quality

Installation, on door trim, is pretty straight forward. Picked the Pro because it is narrow enough to fit on trim. Had to notch the wood trim to obtain a totally flat surface. The "Pro" has HD video quality so your Internet WiFi needs to be >20 Mbps for the rotating circle to go away. (Had 12 Mbps - no video or live view) Cover security screw is small (4-40) so easily lost (2 provided) and easily cross threaded. The provided tool has too large of a handle to keep the cross threading from happening. "BE CAREFUL" Video is excellent both day and night. Three? different colored covers. Cell App is straight forward and easy to use.

I have recently purchased a home, and I have been set on a mission to make my home as connected as possible. Finding the right product lineup has been interesting. The Ring was a product that peaked my interest when I heard about it on shark tank. I'm glad I picked up the Ring Pro, and installation was quite easy. You'll need a power drill to get the Ring in place on cinder block construction, but other than that was a breeze. I like that they have partnered with Wink, and I am able to set up Robots to allow for use of motion being detected as a trigger. Pros: Infrared sensors for nighttime viewing. Easy installation. Wink compatibility. Kēvo compatibility. Able to speak (or ignore) those as your door. Low cost for service to keep recordings. Changeable face plates. No batteries required. 1080p wide angle camera. Cons: Not able to adjust video quality within the app, nor can I seek to find a place to do so. It states it does it automatically, but user control here would be nice. Only a 30-day free trial to their cloud storage. Feel like I should get more for the money I have spent. But who doesn't? To summarize, the Ring was a great purchase for our household, and it has surely helped us with knowing who comes and goes at our house. Would highly recommend a look at this device if in the market for an outdoor camera/smart doorbell device.
