Good little camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works fine. Sometimes a little slow with the motion detect. Also I wish they had it so you could view camera anytime without a ring or motion sensor. I hardwired it so you don't have to worry about charging ever. Very easy and directions were good. Wish the app was a little better, but its ok.

Great to increase security at your home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The installation and wifi configuration is straight forward. I have test it however I have not installed it on my house entrance. I plan to first install it with the battery option. ring claims that the battery should last between six to 12 months. That will give me enough time to figure out how to connected to the house door bell. I hope that the Ring push bottom will activate the ding don bell of the door bell. I also like the option to become a member of a social network to communicate with your Neighbours about possible and suspicious individuals or crime. Once I finish the installation, I am expecting to fine tune the motion zones detections. I have read that if your Ring faces East, you may have issues with the infrared motion detection. So far, I am happy with product and the functionality it offers. One thing that I would like to see is the option to save your recordings in your own server, if you already are paying or have lots of cloud space. I think $3 per month is way to expensive.

Does what it advertises, needs some tweaking
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the unit so that my wife could answer the door while recovering from surgery, as well as to detect when someone (like UPS, USPS, FedEx) was at the door. The unit connected very quickly to our existing 24VAC transformer and doorbell. Alerts us when there is movement near the front door and allows us to answer the door from virtually anywhere. However, when I say movement near the front door, it can be movement 50 feet away or more, depending upon how hot the object is (hot cars trigger it a mile away) and the ability to tailor the sensitivity leaves a lot to be desired. That said, it does what we wanted and it's easy to install

Great addition to my security system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good with the Ring Doorbell. Installation was very easy. The video quality is very good. The motion sensor is very sensitive and can pick up motion from very far away. Still have to find the motion sensor sweet spot. Overall very happy with it so far especially for the price.

Good, but definitely needs a little more time...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for the main reason of functionality, verifying when packages are actually delivered to my house. It adds some security, but also updated the doorbell look to be more modern as well as have purpose. The video quality is absolutely fantastic, for what one would need it to be. There's no trouble making out distinct features of a person, that approaches your front door and the range settings are great for the motion detector. The one shortcoming I see with this product is the heavy delay there is with either the ring function notification or motion detector. I've got an extremely strong wifi signal at my house, however there is a distinct delay when I get notified away from my house. I've had a couple instances already, where someone rings the doorbell, but the delay is so bad that they are already walking away from the door when I open the notification on my phone. If Ring improves the software to create less delay in transmitting the notification signal, that'll make this the "must have" connected home automation product, especially over the other "top" offering in the same category (which isn't HD quality).

Great Door Bell Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While purchasing my Arlo security camera, I came across this item. I've hard wire this camera to my existing door bell system and therefore it has constant power and I don't have to worry about charging it. You can set up the motion and sensitivity, that way it can work like a motion camera. Once someone rings the door bell or motion is triggered you have the option to view and speak to the person on the other end. Comes with a month of free cloud storage, after which you have to buy the storage in order to access your recorded files. It's about $3 a month. The recorded feature is excellent since you can access your files and review plus the quality is excellent. The Ring app. is great for iPhone. I have a friend that observed my Ring set up and compared it to his Sky Bell and he prefers my set up, mainly because of the recording.

Nice gadget
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to replace my traditional door bell so I tried this. I'm generally pleased with how it works; you need to adjust it a bit because it either will pick up too may motion incidents or not enough. If somebody steps on my porch it will record, so that is about all that I need it to do. Slight but noticeable delay between when the doorbell is rung and when I get the notification on my smartphone, but that may have to do with the Wi-Fi. My only surprise was that even though this is wired to an AC circuit it still relies on the battery first. The AC simply recharges it with a slow trickle charge, so if you have a lot of activity, the battery power may diminish faster than the recharge can replenish. But you also have the option to remove it and recharge it manually.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring unit has, so far, has met my expectations. The video quality is great with the audio being very good. My 1 complaint would be the inability to access the units camera at will. Currently, the camera requires motion detection of an active doorbell press to be accessible. While I understand the need to conserve battery power, removing this limitation while hardwired to a transformer would make it a 5 star product.

The End to Porch Pirates
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item is the full size ring and can operate wired or battery, which is great as power outages do happen. Installation is very simple with online video's to help answer questions and they are on a step by step approach so you can follow along. Looks are great, some similar units look out of place but the ring compliments the home and comes in a variety of finishes. Picture quality is great in daylight and nighttime conditions Sensitivity is outstanding but this is where patience pays off, it is so sensitive you will have to adjust the sensor range as it will pick up cars passing by and small animals as well as any human. Mic and speaker quality is great you can hear everything and your voice is clear with sufficient volume to communicate or warn. I have recommended this item to friends and family.

So far seems to be working very well.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture and sound are very clear. Motion is very sensitive. I had to adjust motion sensor because it would sense cars/trucks passing my house that was 90 feet away from the door bell and would send me alerts to my phone. Great investment. Love the fact that it will alert me when someone is at my door whether they ring the door bell or not and I am either home or away.

Solid purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up my Ring doorbell right before Thanksgiving. Install a breeze in fact short of hiring someone to do it, it couldn’t have been easier. Video is 720p which means that I can’t get a plate of a car (my house is approx 200ft set back from road) but I can definitely get a clear picture of a face. Works otherwise as well as advertised and has been a welcome addition to my smart home ecosystem. My only gripe is that I wish there were some other decor options available. I have a large Cape Cod and this doesn’t fit with the design of the house. Other than that, a super cool product for the security conscious or people that expect a ton of deliveries. Remember if you turn off notifications on your phone (Do not disturb) you don’t receive alerts and that functionality is rendered useless.

LOVE MY VIDEO DOORBELL!!!!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely positively love, love, love my Ring Video Doorbell! The picture and sound are great. No one gets to my front door without being captured on video. I love being able to answer my front door and see who it is from anywhere. Everyone thinks I'm answering from inside the house when I'm actually at work. :) The cons about the product, and it clearly informs you about this, is that the motion sensors picks up and sends an alert for every vehicle that passes by my door due to the heat they give off. I set the sensor for the smallest zone hoping it won't pick up the street in front, but it does. When someone's home, I turn the alerts off. Compared to how helpful the product is, this is a minor inconvenience. The other con is having to remove the bell to recharge it and the charging time. Granted, it's really easy to remove and remount and the lithium battery does last for months, but while it's taking 3 to 5 hours to charge, you're basically without a doorbell. My advice about this is to charge it before the battery gets really low and to make sure you're home while it's charging. Again, a minor inconvenience for what it does. Hint, keep your Ring box and the screwdriver in a safe but memorable and easily accessible place, and don't unscrew the small screws all the way out. That way you won't loose the screws and remounting is easier and quicker. Despite the cons, I still love it and would definitely recommend to family, friend, everyone! However, if it should ever wear out, I will be getting the Ring Pro, which connects to your existing bell wiring and doesn't operate by battery.

Good camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this camera for 1 month. So far it's been good. I can see who has come to my home whether they ring the doorbell or not and the video recordings have sound. I can even see the cars that drive past on the street, about 25 feet away. Planning to purchase a couple of the Ring flip cameras when they become available to put the rest of my house on surveillance. As for setup, my friend did it in about an hour by replacing my doorbell with the Ring doorbell (you don't need the chime unless you want it) and connecting it to my router. He put the app on my smartphone so I can answer my doorbell from my phone, even when I'm not at home because it works like an intercom system. It videos motion and I can view the surveillance videos from any internet device and the pictures are clear. It's been a fun system to have.

Good but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think all of the doorbells have room for improvement; however, the original ring isn't bad. Pro: -Decent video quality, even at night -Decent recording and sound quality -Easy to set up Con: -Connects via wi-fi only which means you should have a pretty strong wifi connection -Has a delay when trying to access the live view -Video storage costs extra In the end we decided to gift (got a great deal on it) and get a Skybell HD instead.

Good purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like being able to see motion/person at my door without having to go to the door. I get lots of deliveries so now I can see when something is delivered. Sound quality is good to be able to speak to whoever is at the door. We replaced existing doorbell, which is a little lower than waist-high. If I was installing it in a new location, I would put it more chest high to be able to more easily see faces, but okay as is. The location also tends to catch motion on the street so we get some motion notifications when no one is on our porch. Not sure how to eliminate that. Quick installation (by my son who is an electrician). Downloaded app and set up was quick and easy.

I Love My Ring Video Doorbell!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this video doorbell for my home before I went on vacation this past Summer and I love it! I was very easy to install and with the smartphone app I can see what's going on in my front yard from anywhere in the world! I can see who's at the front door and talk to them via the app, even if I'm not home. It is also great to see when the UPS or FedEx packages are delivered and where they left them. The doorbell comes with cloud storage for my videos and Lifetime Purchase Protection just in case someone ever steals the doorbell. In addition to being a great product, Ring has excellent customer service! I am a satisfied customer!

Nice device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased because my wife hates answering the door. It's great for recording of package deliveries as well, in case someone tries to still the package. The video quality is good for what it records. the audio is decent as well. The few drawbacks for me is mounting the device. I used the preexisting wires and location of the doorbell and made me have to mount it at and odd angle. Also if it is really sunny out the area beyond the initial zone acts like the space is only 1 foot so the motion alert will get triggered more frequently. Over all I am impressed with the device. It also has held up to snow on it and near zero degree temps.

One of a kind - highly recommended
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could find no other video doorbell that did NOT have to be wire-powered and/or connect to an existing doorbell's wires. This unit has its own recharge battery and works completely wirelessly to announce your visitors on a smart phone. It has motion detection with user-control of sensitivity and direction of coverage. You can speak both ways to a "visitor". You get a 720p video of the visitor which for a $3/month fee is stored on a cloud. It integrates to Kevo locks (and other systems) so you can give a visitor to your door access immediately. Installation is very easy and all of the tools are included. You can also use double sticky form tape to attach it to your surface, glass, plastic etc or you can use the screws provided to mount the bracket. The device snaps into its mounting bracket and is secured by two proprietary screws. Ring says that if your device is STOLEN, they will replace it for FREE. I purchased two of these and highly recommend it. Lastly, battery life obviously depends on how many times it's activated, how long a video session is and the outside temperature. I live in CT, bought this in November, have had it for 2 months and battery is still 95%. It will show you the battery level so you can charge it (easy with a USB) before it dies. Charging 9from an almost dead battery) takes 5 hours with a 2 amp charger and 11 hours with a 1 amp charger.

Good image quality, motion sensitivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The doorbell has been working very well. I did have to do some fine-tuning of the Smart Alerts motion settings to capture more activity. At the Standard setting, we had a motion recording of a delivery coming to our door, and the driver walking back to his vehicle with our package. The subsequent doorbell video showed the delivery person taking a photo of the package at our door. We were missing the video of the driver returning with and leaving a different package at the door. Having turned motion Smart Alerts to Frequent, we now seem to be getting all activity at the door. While a subscription is required to view/capture anything but live video, the price is reasonable.
