This device provides all the functions of a doorbell and much more. It will page you on your cell phone and provide you the ability to see who is at the door and speak with them. The doorbell works with an electrical connection or by being charged via micro USB. The video pictures are clear and the motion sensors provide minimal error messages. The doorbell securely fastens to the wall via special screws with a provided screwdriver. It is a definite add on to your home security system. I have used the customer support which was US based and helpful.

I’ve been waiting to get this doorbell for a while now and decided to get it while on sale Black Friday. I’m so glad that I did!! I love the motion alerts and live camera option. It was really easy to install. FYI, if you choose to use the internal battery, it has to be charged more often than the box says. Especially if you use the live view option often. I’ve had it a little less than a month and it has to be recharged soon. Other than that, it’s great!

This doorbell is very well packaged including special leveler, screws, screw driver and bits. Installation instruction is very clear and easy to follow. Installation is very fast. The doorbell allows viewing from iPhone even during midnight with no light at the front door. Only drawback is the battery runs out less than 20 days even it was hardwired. The recharging process is less than 1% per 2-3 days without viewing and notification turned off.

The features are great on this product but there are some drawbacks. Had to return the first one and Ring sent a replacement. Pros.. Great video, battery is rechargeable, can talk to someone at your door (if you are lucky) Cons... Both units took me 7 attempts to connect to wifi. The unit times out soon before you can complete the connection procedures. When the button is pushed, I can only see the back of the head as the person is walking away ( I do have great wifi, so it's not the wifi signal). Was reading other reviews and it seems that these issues are common with others. Support is aware of these issues and in the process of updating the firmware, so we'll see. There is also an issue with folks hacking into your wifi by removing the unit and pressing the orange button on the back. The features are great if all of it works. I wouldn't recommend until the firmware updates are completed.

Hardwired to doorbell system, charges battery and looks great on the house. The motion zones take some adjusting but honestly, I’d rather have more notices then not enough. Only thing I would like to see is a better temp range, -5 in MN is nothing, gets colder then that so we’ll see how it works. Easy setup and use, great when away. Recommend the plan to record videos, helpful if you receive packages and need to make sure they arrived.

I wouldn’t buy any video doorbells because it was expensive. But when the price went down, it was a no-brainer. PROS: The video quality is superb even at night time. It does notify you of motion and records video if missed. CON: Too much notification despite lowering the sensitivity and perimeter scanned. I guess that’s still good. If possible get longer screws as the screws it came with is not long and strong enough especially if your mounting on stucco wall.

This ring door bell works great. I purchased this first generation because I did not have a hard wired power source. It’s a hassle taking it out and charging it every few months. However, they sell a solar attachment you can install to make it recharge it without taking the whole door bell out. Overall, it works very well but would recommend to connect it with a transformer. Setup was a snap and simple guided instructions as well.

Very easy to install and comes with all the tools you need. It works with the current wires of your existing doorbell. Cloud recording is in HD. So you can hear the doorbell. You can speak clearly with someone at or near your front door. I love this system!

After reading lots of reviews on the many similar products out there, I found that this one had the highest reviews, mainly for the quality of the picture, the ease of setup, and the customer support. And I have been happy with all of them. I use the iOS app, and delegated a shared account for my wife so she can login to her own account, and we both get notified of motion or someone ringing the doorbell. Doorbell alerts and motion alerts are both optional settings, so while I like to have both alerts enabled, perhaps my wife only wants to get notified when someone rings the bell. In any case, it's really a great tool to improve the security of your home, as it will record when there's any movement in any of the zones you choose. For example, you can make it ignore cars pulling into your driveway on one side of the screen, or ignore street traffic more than 15 feet away from your door, as you choose the zones you wish to monitor for motion. The camera provides crisp, clean images, although it is a fisheye camera, so in order to get the wide angle coverage, you'll see that things get a little distorted as it approaches the edge of the picture, but I suspect all video doorbells are like that in order to provide the wide angle coverage. Although I love this doorbell, and think it's currently the best one out there, I didn't give it 5 stars because I feel there are two important features that are lacking, and I hope they are eventually added: 1) I haven't been able to figure out a way to remotely enable the camera. It does a great job at notifying you if there's motion or someone ringing the bell, at which time you can enable the camera and have a conversation with whomever is there. But without either of those events occurring, I haven't been able to turn on the camera, say to check the weather at my home, for example. There are probably other reasons some people might want to remotely enable the camera, and I know at least one other video doorbell does provide this feature, so hopefully the folks at ring may consider adding this feature. 2) When you install your doorbell, ring activates a 30 day free trial for the "cloud recording" feature. This is the only way to review previously recorded videos. For example, if I'm not in range of a data signal when UPS comes to deliver a package at my door, I won't know that a package was left at my door unless I can view previously recorded videos. So after the 30 days, if I want to see previously recorded videos, I have to purchase the cloud recording service for $30 per year. I wish Ring would offer the ability to upload the videos to other cloud services, such as Google Drive, dropbox, iCloud, or even to my own Synology NAS. That cloud service really adds on to the price, making a $200 doorbell cost $500 over 10 years. And an alternate cloud service would really be important if, for example, Ring went out of business, which would effectively turn my doorbell into a doorstop. Other than those two features I wish they would add, I am so glad I purchased this doorbell, and feel much more secure with it making recordings of all the activity coming and going from my house. I would certainly recommend this to any of my friends and family, even if they aren't in the market for a video doorbell, as I think the security aspects are worth the investment.

The Ring doorbell was easy to install to the existing house wiring, did not even know that you could install it anywhere and not just limited to the existing door bell wiring. But that would require the additional door bell accessory. The motion sensor is very sensitive and depending on where you install it, the motion sensor could pickup cars passing by on the street and people walking down the street. I have to still fine tune the area being monitored using the motion sensor. The only drawback is that the video storage to view video that you might not of seen immediately is only available for 30 days, there after you have to sign up to a monthly or yearly service which is not too expensive but just have to be aware there are additional cost even after buying the Ring doorbell itself if you want the full features to continue. The new version of the Ring doorbell looks even better and the motion sensor feature looks to be more customization which might be an improvement to reduce the amount alerts from cars or people walking down the street.

    Ring Doorbell Does Everything Right

This is the original Ring doorbell which is about 4-5 years old now. If you want just a reliable doorbell, this is a good choice especially when you consider that pretty much every other video doorbell costs 2-3 times as much. It has 720p video which is less than great but you can see pretty clearly who's at your door. The battery is not removable so you have to remove the unit to charge it. The new Ring model has a removable battery and better 1080p video but costs TWICE as much. It's fairly easy to configure as long as you have a decent Wifi signal. Any problems I had configuring it ended up being due to Wifi, not the Ring. This doorbell is NOT compatible with Google Nest Hubs but works well with Alexa and Echo. Google devices can connect to the Ring, but it won't show you video or give any alerts. Best Buy says it's compatible.

Doorbell was easy to install. Just went with the basic model to see if it did what it said. It does. Playback is clear and audio is easily understood. No problems so far. Did buy the Wi-Fi extender so I can hear the “ring” throughput the house. Haven’t notice a large delay in the feed as some reviews have stated. I think it is picking up movement and rings as advertised. Did pick up 1 UPS truck on the street also.

Easy to install works very well. I do have issues sometimes in getting Live Feed and motion gets triggered pretty often (even for cars moving on the street which is more than 20 feet away, but who cares). It does its job of detecting motion seamlessly works as a Door Bell (2 way interaction with the visitor) and tons of improvement that can be made via Software update because it has all the necessary Hardware.

Likes: Easy setup instructions, quick to get it setup and working. Motion sense based on heat not completely motion. Motion sensing notice with record capabilities. Dislikes: Motion sensing can be tricky to setup, winter seems to have a lot of delays in picking up people approaching. Not tested: Integration with other systems. This is reputed to integrate with other systems and that is interesting, but have not yet invested in them yet.

I've had my Ring for close to 2 months. Overall I'm content with its operation but there's a few things that were surprising to me (and not in a good way). 1. The video motion detection is amateurish and false alarms to cars and trucks driving by (50 feet away). I've spent hours trying every zone and depth setting and nothing helps to reduce the falsing. The good news is now I know when all my neighbors come and go (not really what I'm interested in seeing). 2. The battery life is about 1 month before a charge is needed. This surprised me even more than the video motion detection issue. Sure I get 6-8 false motion triggers each day, but I don't answer 90% of them. And, on most days no one rings my doorbell. So, I'm wondering under what circumstances you could achieve 6+ months battery life? I suppose with motion set to OFF. 3. My 5 year old has tested the doorbell button a handful of times since I installed the doorbell. About 10% of the time my phone never rings but the app records a missed ring. I suppose an Android app issue. Otherwise the 1st Gen Ring does what they say. Video and audio quality are good and I've had a few cases where having this video doorbell proved to be helpful. Note, the 2nd Gen Ring Doorbell Pro is coming out end April for $249. Note that the Pro doorbell requires house wiring (no battery option) but Ring claims to have addressed the video motion issue I discussed above. And its got more new features. Looks good, if I only had house wiring to my doorbell....

    The Ring Doorbell is Junk

This doorbell just does not work. The company falsely advertises it's product by putting a fake video and photo out there of what the product looks like. The video is horrible, it's a small round hole and is fisheye. Not like on their website or the box. The motion detection does not capture anything until people are walking away. The audio stops working about 5 seconds after starting, and sometimes doesn't work at all. The zones will capture cars driving by, after they have driven by, but not people, until they are walking away. Audio and video are not synchronized. When you complain about anything to the company, they just say it's your wifi or internet. In my case, that is not true at all. All have been tested and far exceed the bandwidth requirements of the product. The company is a horrible company, the product is a horrible product. I wonder how they got their good reviews, Hmmmm......

There are two ways to install this door-bell: Either completely wireless (leveraging the internal, USB rechargeable battery) or, powered via existing door-bell power lines. I opted for the latter because, well, I was replacing my existing wired door-bell that had shorted. So far, this door-bell has been excellent. I don't have a window near my front door, and the area is somewhat secluded from the street, but the fish-eye camera gives great all-around visibility. Some people reported that they had a lag between the trigger event and the alert appearing on their smart-phone. I did not experience this. However, I do recommend that you have a really good wifi connection. Be sure to connect the door-bell to your wifi at the location you intend to install it to be sure the signal strength is good. Also, powering the door-bell via the existing wiring is probably also a contributing factor to my positive experence. My only minor negative feedback is that there is no way (at least not to my knowledge) to simply activate and view the camera without an alert triggering it. Technically, I can see why this might be a design limitation - and it's no big deal really - the motion sensor settings are incredibly customizable (range of detection and angle). Overall, great experience and a recommended product for people with limited visibility of their front door.

Easy setup, now my family knows who is at the door, even when we're not home. We liked it so much we bought a second one for our other door. Tied into my existing system for chime and power. Needs a strong WiFi signal so purchased Netgear 1200 Wifi extender. Motion a little sensitive, so needs some tweaking. Would love enhancement to allow us to view and listen at any time, rather only when senses motion or when someone rings bell. But overall a great addition to home security.

I was excited when this came on sale I always wanted one but didnt care for the price tag. The overall concept , easy installation, and design are well worth the full price tag . The only reason I rated 4 and not 5 stars is the App is very buggy, it logs us out for no reason and when trying to use the Live View option it comes up black. Fix the App and this is definitely a 5 star product.
