It syncs to Alexa so Alexa will notify me if someone has been noticed or is at the door. They sell a chime to add to an electrical outlet.

It sounds like there is some confusion regarding the features of the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision, advanced motion detection, and two-way audio with noise cancellation. It must be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer with 10–24 VAC, 40 VA max, and 50–60 Hz.
Once your device is installed, follow these steps to set up your device's advanced motion detection so that your device detects the motion you want it to:
Open the Ring app.
Tap Menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Tap your device.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Advanced Settings.
Tap Advanced Motion Detection.
Toggle the switch on.

New Ring Door Bell

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The doorbell itself works very well and was very easy to install via the Ring app. For about $50 it is well worth it, BUT, I had to go back to get the chime as the initial instructions do not tell you that your existing chime will no longer work, so you have to by a separate Ring chime for about $39. The Best Buy rep at the store had no knowledge about the Ring products. When I went back to get the Chime, I saw a box that had both product for about $69 whereas I found up paying about $95 for both. Both are good products, but the Best Buy instore rep was poor.

Reasonable Price, but with Shortcomings

I went with the wired model to avoid batteries but found it would not ring my existing door bell. Solved this problem by connecting it to my Alexi Echo Show 5. And, unlike some other models that have built-in SD cards Ring cameras require a monthly subscription in order to capture and save video when activated by someone approaching my front door. Without the subscription only "live" video is available once the 30 day trial period expires.

As for video recording, the Ring Home Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. Without a Ring Home Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Installation was very easy and quick. This doorbell is also on the smaller side, so it's great for small spaces. My only complaint is that it doesn't have great video quality, bur it still is good enough and PLENTY good for the price. I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for a cheap alternative to Ring's other options.
