I recently picked up Rise of the Ronin for PS5 from Best Buy, drawn by its promise of an open-world samurai experience. The game delivers a rich narrative set in 19th-century Japan, allowing me to navigate political upheavals and form bonds that influence the story's direction. Combat is a standout feature—engaging and rewarding, especially when mastering the timing of attacks and counters . However, I noticed some performance issues, with frame rate drops in certain modes . Additionally, while the world is expansive, some side quests felt repetitive, and the graphics didn't consistently meet the high standards set by other PS5 titles

If you like samurai games, this one is really cool. I have yet to beat it as I tend to attempt to 100% a good game the first play through, I will say that it is really neat that they included real historical elements into the storyline, in addition to real characters from that era. It is certainly worth playing. I will say that I enjoyed the ghost fighting mechanics a bit better, but it doesn’t detract from the game all that much.

I almost gave up trying to get thru the tutorial with a boss fight requiring working familiarity with the control combos ,stances ,weapon usage and allay deployment. Once i got used to the play style ,similar to Ghost of Tushima , I got hooked. I did set the playstyle to the easiest (Dawn) along with a few other settings.

Very fun & engaging combat, the game is challenging but not absurdly difficult & I personally loved the time period it was set in. The setting is full of Japanese & western European Architecture & theres this blending of the 2 cultures, I enjoyed the game.

The graphics are a little muddy and kind of brown but it plays well. Has a few bugs that need worked out. It has a transmog feature so you can always have on your favorite look.

This game has flaws. It’s not perfect. But it is really good. There isn’t as much polish in resolution, frame rate, story telling or character building as Ghost of Tsushima but it’s still a really good game. That may sound confusing, but it’s more a testament to my high regard for GOT than a critique of Ronin. If you like open world games similar to GOT and Assassin’s Creed you will enjoy this.

Bought myself a copy of this game for my birthday. I was very hesitant as I had heard mixed reviews about both the gameplay and difficulty of the game. Whoever compares this game to a Souls kinda game is WRONG! Controls are easy to learn and master. There are 4 different difficult levels. The story is quite interesting. Great game. Its challenging but not unplayable, especially for an old gamer like myself.

I have to say, this game is Amazing. I have enjoyed it for some time since I bought it. I personally play it on my Day 1 PS5 Disc and PS Portal. I love the World, Customization and Combat among other things. That said, I do wish the Graphics were a bit better. I understand Graphics aint everything but man. Great Game though. Highly Recommend the Game. Especially if you are into History or Japanese History.

Solid game that feels like a combination of Ghost of Tsushima & Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, but I wouldn’t say it’s better than either of those. Graphics are mediocre, definitely below the standards of what you would expect from a 2024 AAA game. The game is fun but not a must buy, you’re probably better off waiting for a sale.

Once you get the hang of the mechanics and figure things out it becomes much easier to play. However it just doesn’t feel as fluid as other titles that are similar or games that are comparable. The grahics also for a PS5 only game are not quite where I would expect them. But the game is fun overall.

    Great Historical Japan Action RPG

This is an excellent action RPG that takes place in different areas of Japan during the Shogunate historical period. It is open world with many interactions with some historical figures and some created specifically for your character to possibly form bonds with. The fighting mechanics have improved since a May/June update, but can take some time to really master.
