This keyboard is loud AF. I have the black version so I figured it would be the same. Boy was I wrong. Also the white one needs 2 usb ports to function. I’m regretting this purchase big time.

I have ran through the gamut when it comes to mechanical keyboards. I have used every major brand, and I have loved so many of them. After typing on the ROCCAT Vulcan II Max I could never go back to the competition! The way this keyboard feels is simply amazing, the chiclet style keys are so smooth to the touch and they break very clean on every keystroke. The RBG is phenomenal as well, and the RGB going into the wrist rest is just a cool touch that pushes this entire package over the top! I have been using this on a ton of different games, and for my MMOs it is a huge win. Ergonomically it works great for me, I go hard on the WASD for hours and with this keyboard it is so easy! The volume controls work great, as well as all of the media control buttons. The only downside that I can really think of on this keyboard is the fact that it takes 2 USB cables and 2 USB ports on your computer or docking station. If that doesn't matter to you, then I highly recommend picking up the Vulcan II Max!

    Well Designed Intelligent RGB Keyboard

This keyboard is beautiful, the colors and the brightness of the lights, and even lighting up the wrist pad are all well done. RGB Keyboards are not new, but this one is more intelligent than any other I've used before. I waited until night time to review this Roccat Vulcan II Max because I thought I would appreciate the lights more at night (I did). The keyboard started on a color setting which I believe they call "Wave" which is a cool rainbow that bounces in both directions in a nice way. The AIMO Intelligent Lighting mode seemed to become both available and the default after installing the software and downloading an update for the keyboard itself within that software. I very much like the AIMO setting, but I also like that I can try different ones. For example, I have one on right now called Ripple FX, and it's fun seeing the illumination from the keyboard changed as I type with two hands (there is a ripple effect from both sides of the keyboard originating where keys are pressed). The disadvantage of ripple, though, is if you type at night it will be harder to see the keys when they're not illuminated. Custom mode lets you select different color patterns for keys by zone, such as WASD. Most if not all places you set colors in the keyboard app, you can also adjust the keyboard brightness. One note of advice about the app, down on the bottom right of the app window is an "Auto Apply" option which seems to be a way to let you experiment with the options and as you select them, the keyboard updates shortly after. As per games, I played a couple inside of the PC Xbox app, and I could play well and felt like I had more control over the movements in the game with this keyboard. The keys were very responsive and I liked the clicking noise made which let me hear the keys being pressed.

This is a great keyboard for the multitasking home gamer and worker or the officemate who wants to be completely extra with a flashy clicky mechanical keyboard at the office! I love the way the keycap tops are narrower so that you get more lighting from all four sides of the keys. Though it can be distracting from high paced action if something bright flashes out of the corner of your eye! The dual LED’s on each side of the key allow for customization and awesome looking effects that I’ve never seen an RGB mechanical keyboard do before. And the WRIST REST lights up too which is incredibly cool. Onboard single click media keys make volume and music control a breeze and the FN key provides plenty of customization for shortcuts and macros. I do wish the FN key was on the left side instead of the right though because I am right handed and would prefer to trigger it on the left side and then hit my combo with the right hand. The keys sound great when they are hit and give great feedback to give you confidence that you’re doing everything you need to do the right way. I love the curved tops which help keep my fingers from sliding too far when hitting combos quickly in fast paced action.

    Awesome Gaming keyboard

The Vulcan II Max is definitely a 5 star gaming keyboard. The keys give a satisfying click when pressed. The included wrist rest is basic, but functional and supportive. Since it's clear silicone lighting effects also show in it slightly which is nice. Game mode with Easy Shift gives you secondary functions to keys, Very important in gaming. It's especially helpful in MMO games like World of Warcraft, and helpful in MOBA games like League of Legends. Those who like extra buttons for First Person Shooters or Real Time Strategy games may like this feature as well. There are media buttons and a volume knob for adjusting sound output and muting/unmuting. One of the things I found unpleasant is that this keyboard requires 2 USB ports to effectively run, preferably USB 3.0. If you're short on USB ports this could be a drawback for you. There are also no pass through USB ports on the keyboard for plugging in another peripheral, like a headset. Besides that, this is an excellent and responsive keyboard, customizable for all your gaming needs, and also comfortable for productivity.

What a Gaming Keyboard Should Be

What a gaming keyboard should be. This ROCCAT Vulcan II offers a lot of great features, looks and feels great, and has performed fantastically so far. There is not really anything I don't like about this keyboard to this point. This is by far the coolest keyboard I've ever had. The features are amazing. Yes, many have RGB lighting and nice mechanical switches but the lighting that extends into the palm rest adds another element of cool to the keyboard lighting. I also like that I can detach the palm rest if I want as sometimes it actually causes fatigue for me rather than the opposite. I haven't tried yet but I also like that you can add 3rd party keycaps if you want. There are some really cool looking ones out there that I want to order. The look of this setup is unique. As I mentioned, the palm rest lighting is awesome, the RGB lighting in the keyboard itself looks great. I can't get over the flat board with raised key look too! The cord is pretty heavy duty looking. The whole setup is sweet. The mechanical switches are very satisfying. Just the right amount of click and travel. Not too annoying to hear when you're typing a bunch either. Overall I love this keyboard and don't want to use another!

Gaming with a cool light show!!!!

ROCCAT VULCAN II MAX is a very solidly built and designed keyboard. Straight out of the box, I could see that it was an impressive keyboard. Possibly one of the best-looking mechanical keyboards I've seen. And one plugged in the high-res RGB LED system blew me away. This one includes ROCCAT smart key tech. A32bit processor and 1000Hz polling rate The keys sit high, and you can clearly see the lights. Every key boasts dual LED lighting that flows beautifully. It's called AIMO lighting. The included translucent armrest shows off the light show superbly. There are also multimedia keys. So you control your entertainment at the stroke of a key. I would have loved a roller over a knob for volume, but not a deal-breaker. The shift button duplicator is fantastic as well. Switching profiles is also easy for different players or games. And with four megabytes of onboard storage, your profiles are saved within the keyboard. You also get 6 Macro keys. Step up your game now with this keyboard. You will love it as much as I do if you are an avid gamer.

If there's one thing that the designers of the Vulcan II Max have undoubtedly succeeded at, it's in building a keyboard that looks amazing sitting on your desk. It would be a spectacular accessory to a showpiece build for streaming or display. Unfortunately a series of somewhat puzzling design and engineering decisions keep me from recommending it as a daily driver. First, let's look at some of the good here. As mentioned, the keyboard looks fantastic. The dual-LED switches allow for some astonishingly smooth color transitions for RGB fans (something that their swarm utility takes full advantage of.) The light-up wrist rest is also quite striking and looks good both in daylight and a dimly lit room. The silicone material they're using does a good job staying in place even when you're regularly moving the keyboard around, and is easily cleaned. The linear switches are a little stiffer than most I've tried in teh past but are nonetheless responsive and, given that they're optical, almost certainly going to last for a very long time. The media controls are well done (particularly the chunky, very tactile volume knob) and the almost flat keycaps are likely to appeal to those who appreciate the retro styling of typewriters. Unfortunately, there are some problems here. Generally speaking the first thing I do with a new keyboard when it get it is to try and see how much flex there is in the deck, as this is usually a good indicator of how well put together it is. This is usually perfunctory - as it's been a while since I found a keyboard that actually had significant problems in this area. In this case it was not perfunctory. The deck itself is fine, but the plastic frame it's attached to is a different story. There are some small gaps in the corners that only got worse when put under stress, which is a potential point for liquids or dust to get into the case and cause issues. Second is the IO. The keyboard has a permanently attached cable with two USB connectors. Usually in a gaming keyboard if you've got two USB connectors it's so that one can handle the keyboard while the other feeds a passthrough port. This does not have a passthrough port. In fact as far as I can tell, the second USB connector isn't hooked up to anything at all. Both are labeled with the same keyboard icon, there is no way to tell which is which, and the instructions say nothing about a false USB cable. So if you use both you end up needlessly tying up a USB port, and if you just use one you've got a 50% chance of picking the wrong one and having the keyboard just not work. And while the wrist rest looks great, I can't say it was actually all that comfortable to use. It's extremely shallow, non-adjustable, and generates a surprising amount of static electricity. It is flexible enough to prop it up a bit, which does improve things, but it does have a negative effect on the aesthetics. Also, it has to be said that the thin keycaps have a noticeable downside in that it's very easy to catch them on something. My headphone cable slipped between some keys in the numeric keypad during a gaming session and when I stood up it caught on them and ripped out the entire column of keycaps, scattering them all over the room. This is certainly better than breaking off the stems I suppose, but I was a little unnerved at how little pressure it took to pull out five keycaps. Ultimately the Vulcan II isn't the worst keyboard I've ever tried. Again, it looks very good. And in some cases that's worth ignoring some technical foibles. But I honestly can't see myself being happy with it for daily use either. I think most should probably give this one a pass and look for a slightly more conventional, less showy piece of gear.

    Solid keyboard for the price.

TL;DR - a very solid mechanical keyboard for both gaming and productivity. The Titan II switches are very solid performers and not too loud, too. The lighting is completely adjustable in Roccat Swarm. The only real negative is the keyboard cable isn't detachable like with previous Vulkan series keyboards, and it requires TWO USB ports as this keyboard can draw a lot of power. Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with it. Unboxing, setup, and first impressions: This is packaged nicely with the keyboard and palm rest wrapped separately. You'll need to slide the tabs for the palm rest into the bottom of the keyboard, which was a pretty simple task for me. When connecting to your computer, you'll need to plug in both USB-A connectors; the keyboard didn't want to respond for me, EVEN IN BIOS, when only one connector was plugged in. For those with very few USB ports, this may be a drawback (I'm looking at you, laptop users). The Swarm software is a quick download; visit Roccat's support page and you'll find the link almost immediately. For those of you already using Swarm, you may need to update the software before the keyboard is detected. Usage: Response is nearly immediate. The feel is terrific, especially when you're using the silicon palmrest. The keys themselves are not too loud, which is a refreshing change from most mechanical keyboards. Unlike some mechanical keyboards, the space bar is very stable on this one. The Roccat software does take some "getting used to" when it comes to customization, but once you get the hang of it, you can set up your keyboard to look however you'd like it to. The lighting supports 24-bit color for a total of about 16.8 million colors. You'll likely want to turn the brightness down as soon as you install the Swarm software. There are also dedicated media keys, a volume knob that doubles as a mute switch, and a function key that allows certain keys to perform different functions, such as switching lighting and game profiles, enabling screen recording, mic mute, and chat functionality, and even performing macros. Like stated earlier, the only drawback for me with this keyboard is the lack of a detachable cable. It's easier for me to run a cable from the computer to the keyboard. The cable is long enough for most setups, however. For some, the two USB ports required for use may be a problem, especially with laptops and older desktops that have fewer USB ports available. Final thoughts: All in all, the Roccat Vulcan II is an evolution over their prior models, with a couple of nice things added to make it a better overall experience.

The best looking keyboard I have owned

Right out of the box, I just loved the way this keyboard looked. Without a doubt, this is the best looking keyboard I have owned period. Kudos to Roccat and their design team because they really nailed this one. It is fairly lightweight. The main chassis is plastic and the top plate is made of aluminum. Build quality feels decent. It's got rubber strips on the back for grip and you can tilt three levels. The silicone wrist rest is decent. Not the most comfortable one out there but it works so well with the lighting that you just let it go. You connect the keyboard with dual USB-A connectors. Supposedly it can run off of one USB 3.0 port but you cannot take full advantage of the lighting effects with just one USB 2.0 port. In terms of the actual experience, these are optical switches so they aren't as "clicky" as one expects from traditional mechanical keyboards. However, in theory, they should faster and more responsive. I personally did not mind the typing experience on these but I could certainly see others not enjoying it all. They keycaps could be a bit slippery. You can always try switching out the keycaps to customize the experience. In terms of gaming, the quickness of the keys felt nice to me and I enjoyed the experience. The dual-LEDs are a nice touch and you can really customize all you want with their software. The software is not the most user-friendly and I honestly did not play with it too much. I am not too particular about customizing but definitely the software is a weakness of this keyboard. All in all, I really like this keyboard. It does use optical switches which anyone looking to buy this should be aware of. The not so user friendly software also is a con. However, in terms of aesthetics, the Vulcan II Max can't be beat.
