Works as indicated. I have noticed some popped when plugging in certain electronics however I remain hopeful that this will protect in the event of a surge

Travel sized AC protection with USB

This Rockfish surge protector has 6 standard 3 prong AC outlets, 1 USB type A outlet and 1 USB type C outlet. This protector protects all three AC lines ( ground, hot and neutral) unlike some others. There are 2 LEDs indicating that devices are grounded and protected. Rockfish offers a conditional $150,000 connected equipment guarantee. The coolest thing about this protector is that each AC receptacle rotates 90 degrees. This rotation allows close spacing between standard plugs and wall wart type transformers. This would work great in those hotel rooms where all of the wall outlets by the bed and desk are being used and you are expected to plug a fat transformer into a lamp base (where it won't fit). The back side of the protector has a plastic prong to insert where the ground prong would go in the bottom receptacle of the standard dual plug AC outlet. With the top (active 3 prong plug) plugged in that plastic post, designed to provide stability, would not properly go into the bottom outlet. I clipped off the bottom prong and the outlet worked fine. The USB outlets work fine but are not high power which so many devices today require. I got messages on my tablet and a laptop that I should use a more powerful charger to reduce charging time. This is a great size to travel with if you need multiple AC outlets.

Using this in my home theater room to connect two recliners and charge usb devices. Works wonderfully. Didn’t want to use a big surge protector for chairs, but didn’t want them frying due to the spotty power we have in the Rocky Mountains. This set up quickly and the adjustable swiveling outlets make recharging my Xbox Ally X simple via its huge power adapter. It’s fairly compact, so it doesn’t take up space against a wall or cabinet, and I haven’t had any issues with it feeling overloaded with basic items plugged in. Definitely considering getting a few more for bedrooms. The device feels durable, and the plug sockets don’t feel loose. Sturdy, grounded 3 prong plug. UsbC and regular usb sockets for cellphone chargers or video game controller chargers. Two blue lights tell you it’s on and working properly. More than enough outlets and protection for most common household devices, and the swiveling outlets will accommodate your average charger bricks and ac adapters. Perfect for a kid’s bedroom and game systems as well.

This is a great solution to add more outlets and surge protection without having to use a bulky power strip. It just plugs into the standard 2-outlet wall plate (covering both outlets, of course) but then you get 6 surge-protected outlets. The clever new feature that this wall tap has is the six individual outlets that swivel independently. Earlier versions that I’ve purchased swivel three on each side together. The independent swivel definitely makes it easier if you have a couple bulky power bricks to plug in. With this setup, you can likely avoid wasting any of the other outlets by keeping them accessible for smaller, standard plugs. One thing this doesn’t have is a screw through it that can secure it to the wall plate by the middle screw. Depending on what you plug into the wall tap, it might tend to work loose from the wall. However, if you mind what you’re doing, it does plug into the wall outlets fairly securely so this may not be a problem. The lighted “protected” and “grounded” words make it clear that everything is working as expected. They are fairly bright in a dark room, so depending on where you have it plugged in, you may want to stick a piece of tape over them to block the light. The USB-A and USB-C outlets are a nice touch as it seems like we’re always looking to plug something else in to charge. Individually, the USB-C port will provide 5V/3A and the -A port will provide 5V/2.4A. If you have something plugged into both ports, then they’ll share a maximum of 3.4A. So, it’s not a huge amount of power, but it’s enough for smaller devices and accessories. It comes with a 1-year limited warranty and mentions a “connected equipment guarantee” of $150,000. I don’t see any details about how to actually claim damages, but there is an email and phone number listed on the rocketfishproducts.com website. Overall, I think this is a great surge-protecting wall tap and I won’t hesitate to get another one just like this when I need more outlets.

In our house we have what seems like ten thousand electronic items that need to be plugged in at all times or charging up, from security cameras, to tablets and smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, and smartplugs, etc. not even including traditional items such as lamps, clocks, televisions, and appliances. The standard two-plug wall outlets just are not enough anymore. So we have several strip outlets placed throughout our house which somewhat serve the purpose of providing the juice for all those electronic items. Problem is, many of those electronic items—especially the ones servicing modern tech items such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and all things internet connected—have bulky power adapters or plugs which present problems when they need to be plugged in at the same source. This Rocketfish 6-outlet Surge Protector is quite the clever solution. Instead of the traditional strip outlet connected via a cord that plugs into the wall—which often does not have the spacing to accommodate bulky power adapters and plugs—this can handle six bulky plugs/adapters effortlessly because it has a unique swivel feature whereupon each of the individual plugs can swivel outward up to ninety degrees to accommodate various sized plugs. Ingenious! And on top of all that, of course everything is protected against power surges; and in addition to the six outlets there are also two additional ports, a 12W usb port and a 15W usb-c port. There are also LED indicators which clearly show that the ports are grounded and protected. And lastly, installation is quick and simple—just plug it in the regular wall outlet, done. No need to screw it in or anything. Definite 5-star review, definitely recommended!

    Very Nice Surge Protector

The Rocketfish 6 outlet surge protector is a very nice surge protector with some very useful features. It has 6 outlets that can each individually turn up to 90 degrees. It also features two USB ports, one USB-A and one USB-C. These are conveniently located on the top of the plug rather than the front. Individually, the USB-A port can provide up to 12W and the USB-C port can provide up to 15W charging power. If both used simultaneously, they share 17W total. In addition, this surge protector features of to 2100 Joules of protection, and even comes with $150,000 equipment guarantee. There are two LEDs on front to indicate Protected and Grounded status. The design of this surge protector is really nice. The way the plugs swivel up to 90 degrees, it is very easy to fit all sizes of plug and not lose access to the surrounding plugs, unlike traditional non-swivel plugs. I would have liked a few more USB plugs, but including at least two was a nice touch. Overall I am very happy with this surge protector. The design is very well thought out and it provides adequate protection for my electronic devices.

    Very Useful Configurable 6-outlet adapter

If you're like me, there are times when it useful to have more available wall outlets without necessarily taking up some space with a power strip. You may already have had a 6-outlet adapter like I did where one or both groups of three are able to swivel. My biggest gripe with those was that the swivel there helped position things to reduce crowding on one side of the wall tap, but one still had issues with potentially space conflicts between adjacent outlets. This solves the problem by having each individual outlet swivel. Now you have significant freedom to plug in anything to the outlets. With this design, there is always an arrangement where all outlets can be used without conflict. Aside from 6 AC outlets, you also have access to a USB-C and USB-A port to charge low power devices. Years ago, when I got my first 6-outlet tap, this wasn't a concern. Now, about half the devices I'm attempting to power use USB anyway so being able to go direct and save myself needing to track AC adapters is nice. With 15W (USB-C) and 12W (USB-A), you're not getting the highest charging speed but this is more than enough to keep charge a phone over a few hours or laptop overnight. With some wireless chargers needing a minimum of 25W input to operate, supporting USB PD would be a nice addition but far from a deal breaker. For me, the tap worked fine with all 6 outlets in use. Obviously, one can't overload the electrical circuit that it is plugged into. It will occupy both outlets in a traditional wall socket, having three metal prongs for the top socket and a plastic pin that goes into the bottom socket for support. I found it to be pretty secure, even in an older outlet where normal wall plugs felt a bit loose.

No underpowered outlets! This compact little wall unit gives you enough plugs and definitely does not take up too much space. For those of you with pets, this is an excellent alternative to having Fluffy biting your power cords branching off of a floor surge protector model. The degree of swivel means you can accommodate those annoying custom AC adapters too, but rotating one of the surge protector outlets to keep a goofy circular plug from making you forego an otherwise available outlet. Build quality is decent and the surge protector fits snug against the wall without rising off. The unit is compact, so you won't need to worry about screwing it in to keep the weight of a beefy AC adapter plug from pulling the surge protector out of the wall. Best of all, as stated in the first sentence, all six available outlets are fully powered. I've had some surge protectors that include dead or underpowered outlets they don't deliver as much electricity as other outlets on the same surge protector do. Not the case here - every outlet is fully capable of delivering the charge you need. The only drawback, and it's related to one of the surge protector's positive qualities, is how close the outlets are on each side. Since some devices, whether they be TV we streamers, security cameras, or power supplies for single board computers, have not just bulky but oddly shaped AC adapters that can make finding a home for everything on a single surge protector a major pain. The swiveling / rotating outlets help to motivate this problem, but some AC adapters are too oddly shaped to make this solution work. The outlets are so close together on this model that you may encounter a situation where two giant, wonky AC adapters simply can't be made to plug into the same side. If manufacturers stuck to making more compact and rectangular AC adapters, this wouldn't be a problem, but everybody knows that sooner or later you're going to encounter some oddly shaped behemoth in the area of electronics. It would have been nice (and easier to accommodate) had the outlets been a little further apart, but the tradeoff here is that you get a remarkably compact unit featuring six outlets. The rated surge protection is adequate. You can do better for the same amount of money elsewhere, but you can also do a lot worse. If you need substantial protection against irregular and expected power fluctuations, you may want to invest in something with better joule protection, but what's available here is good enough. This little unit is one step short of perfection, but still good enough to recommend easily for most users.

We have had numerous different types of these over the years. Normally we just get the cheapest one we can find that has 4+ outlets on it but with our phones, iPad-type devices, etc. being USB it is pretty much a must to get an outlet that has one or more USB outlets built into them now. With us having had numerous different types over the years we have figured out what we like and what we don't like about them. The Rocketfish 6-outlet+1-USB-A+1-USB-C swiveling wall tap almost completely fits the bill for everything that we love. Unboxing & First Impressions Getting this wall tap out of the packaging was super easy. It came in a cardboard packaging with some printed materials. What I noticed as I slide this out of the packaging was that it didn't feel lightweight & cheap like some of the other ones we have had over the years (I bought 2 from the big A online store a couple of years ago that felt so dainty I was afraid they'd break just from plugging them in!), but it wasn't overly heavy either. I immediately noticed that there wasn't a center screw which would hold this device firmly against the wall plate. Normally I like for these to have that because I do not want them to come unplugged behind the bed or behind the couch when we unplug something. So I was pretty worried about that from the start. I'll get into whether that was an issue or not in the Install section below. Rating: 4.5/5 (the lack of a screw to secure it to the wall plate is why I have deducted .5) Installation Installation is very straight forward. You simply plug this into the wall outlet & you get to using it. With that, the device felt very firmly plugged in. I attempted to wiggle it back & forth to get it come plus but I wouldn't. So maybe my fear I mentioned above will be null & void but only time will tell if it stays that way for the rest of it's life or if it is only that way for now. Anywho, installation was simply a breeze. It's so easy a caveman could do it ;) Rating: 5/5 Everyday Usage Since installing the Rocketfish wall tap we have plugged in all sorts of devices from lamps, to our cell phones, to our laptops, to the vacuum cleaners, to carpet shampooers, and so on. I noticed that how you have the outlets swiveled is how they stay once you plug something in. There is not rotating it afterwards. That is not an issue for me, but I don't believe any of our previous ones would not swivel once in use (we have done away with all of our previous ones because they stopped working, so I can't confirm/test). It's not make or break for me it is just a little quirk I discovered when using the device for the first time. All-in-all we like this and with it being so competitively priced it just makes sense to get one, or multiple! Rating: 5/5 Conclusion In closing the Rocketfish wall tap does everything we want it to do, and it only falls short in one area that I have just grown accustomed to (a screw to secure it to the wall plate) and even that might not be an issue for anyone else but my family & I. I would absolutely love to get more of these for each bedroom in our house, and I will probably be doing just that over this Christmas holiday shopping time. Overall Rating: 14.5/15
