Our previous tv was damaged in a lightning storm, so this is a must have item. Just hope it it is protective enough.

I would not install it in any place that you want completely dark (a bedroom for example) as the blue light can be annoying but if you keep it hidden it works well.

It allows you to plug in appliances and swivel the outlets so you can place signature closer to the wall. It also has USB outlets to charge phones, laptops and other mobile devices. However, the USB outlet does not charge mobile devices sufficiently. When charging, it causes the device to cut in and out of its charging cycle.

Functional but one flaw

The Joules rating on the surge protection is not very high. But the main flaw is you cannot screw it onto the outlet. Therefore when you have plugs facing forward and want to unplug something, it pulls away from the wall outlet. Other ones often have screw to the wall outlet to prevent this.
