No to little noise when in use unlike other models

It has a USB port for charging phones, tablets and other devices. Only Drawback is it doesn't have the capacity for those oversized plug-ins with the huge transformers attached. Otherwise it's perfect.

Cannot rate the ability to protect electronics because I have never had a surge here.
