I bought 2 of these Rocketfish 8 Outlet Surge Protector Strips from Best Buy. I plan to buy several more to replace some older units. I love how any size plug-in transformers will fit in 6 outlets, without rearranging each one. The outlet layout is the best I have ever seen. LIKES: 1- 6 Outlets with plenty of space between for the largest plug-in transformers plus 2 more outlets close by. This is the only strip I own that will accommodate 6 large transformers side by side with room to spare. 2- Rugged construction. 3- 6 foot extremely soft & flexible heavy duty cord. 4- 2) 5 Volt USB jacks. The power supply is built-in with power to charge 1) iPad or other tablet or 2) phones. 5- On / Off Switch / resettable circuit breaker is flush mounted. In addition to the sleek design, this makes the strip very low profile & much less likely for the power switch / circuit breaker to be accidentally bumped & turned off or on. 6- Right angle power plug fits in tight places. 7- Cable F-type in / out & telephone in / out protection. 8- 3600-joule protection rating - much larger than most surge protector strips. 9- Noise filter (47eB EMI/RFI) built in to remove interference from the power line. 10- 2 LEDs show protection is working & ground is present. DISLIKES: NONE!

    Perfect for my home theater

This surge protector/power strip was a great addition to my home theater setup. I had a surge protected power strip before but after a lightning strike ruined a few cables and one input on my TV I decided to upgrade to something with surge protection for all connections. Among the many things I love about this product is the ability to mount (hanging mount) it using screws. The previous strip I had before didn’t have this option so it sat on the floor and made cable management a nightmare. The LED lights that indicate that it’s grounded and protected aren’t too bright so they don’t light up the wall behind my TV. At this price, I think this is strip offers some good value for what it does. The upgrade to the 12 outlet version might be necessary for some but for me, I’ve got 2 plugs left over for future components. In short, it’s a great product at a good price and I certainly am glad I have protection for ALL of my connections that are coming from the wall.

Of course my electronics would be protected! LOL, with an airgap that big, it would of course protect what ever you could not plug into it! lol took back to best buy and the Geek Squad Idiot (who looked at me like I was an idiot) kept trying to plug a plug in. Even after I told her, "I can't plug anything into it. Nada, Zip, Zilcho!" so, she tried after she rolled her eyes at me, and tried, and tried, and tried. could not plug anything in. She even switched plugs to another counter top appliance and tried again....and again........and.........again.....different receptacles on the strip. and swapped for another again!! LMAO! She looked at me with incredulous disbelief!!! I said "didn't believe me didya???" she said.........."Yep! Sorry", and we both laughed. I told her, I understand, as it seemed like an incredible claim to not be able to plug anything into any receptacle on the power strip! LOL, needless to say, we both had a good laugh and I got my money refunded (or my credit card credited actually)

I purchased this 8 plug 2 usb Rocketfish Surge Protector a year ago when I got my new Sony Bravia 4k tv. I knew I would have many expensive electronica to hook up so I wanted to make sure I was getting a quality made protector that had a high joule rating but also looked good and that's when I found this protector. Rocketfish has always been quality products in my experience with them and this protector is no exception. I have a 4k Sony, Xbox One X, Chromecast Ultra, Turtle Beach XP400s, Sony Sound Bar & Sub and a Yamaha Aventage 7.1ch A/V Receiver all hooked up to this surge protector and so far to date no issues or complaints. Actually I was thinking about picking another one of these up but I saw they have a 7 outlet with 4' 4k HDMI included for $24 so I think that's the route I'll go. Highly recommended surge protector and this is also what I got my mom for her 4k LG tv.

Purchased this to protect some electronics where the wall outlet access is difficult to reach. This surge protector has 8 outlets, which allows us to plug in all our devices and have two empty outlets for quick use. Plus it keeps my mom from moving large and bulky furniture to get the wall outlet. It also allows her to control the devices using the off/on switch on the protector. The 6' cord and mounting design has allowed me to pull the protector away from the bulky furniture and mount it for easy access, Added bonus, it was also on sale at Best Buy so I got a great deal on it. It checked all the boxes for our needs and the amount of protection it offers couldn't be beat for the price. I'll be purchasing a couple for my home in the near future.

    Ethernet Passthrough Restricts Speed

While the surge protector provides great connectivity it lacks in one major area, Ethernet pass-through. I've done over 10 speed tests through the surge protector and directly to the router from the modem. I've tried multiple Ethernet cables. All tests done through Ethernet, not WiFi. Every time i connect to the surge protector it limits my bandwidth to 1/10 of what I should be getting. There is a short burst around 120 Mbps in the beginning then it tapers off to 30 Mbps shortly after. Directly from the modem to the router I get 400 Mbps steady from the beginning. I'll try replacing this with another one but so far not happy with purchase.

Being a working musician, even though I have permanent power supply that remains in a fixed position on my pedalboard; I was in need of additional power outlets for other pieces of equipment such as my computer and mixing consoles. Fortunately, Rocketfish via Best Buy was my best solution. On most power strips, the plugs are all in a one directional configuration thus making it difficult to plug in certain types of power supplies that extend or cover some of the other outlets you could be utilizing. Rocketfishs' power supply has outlets on both sides eliminating the problem of covered plugs. Great price and a quality product as far as surge protectors go. Get yours today at best buy and leave your power worries behind.

I bought my Rocketfish 8-Outlet/2-USB Surge Protector Strip for my new Denon AV Receiver. It's always good idea to replace old surge protector when buying any new AV equipment. The Rocketfish 8-Outlet/2-USB Surge Protector Strip works great except I wish they would of placed the USB outlets not between the 4 large outlet plugs. If you plug a larger transformer plug into the 120V outlets it can block the USB outlets. I only needed one USB outlet and had configured my plugs not to block the one. Other than USB placement, its a great 8-Outlet plus 2-USB Surge Protector Strip. Nice touch to have the low profile wall plug.

    Kills internet

Was using this for about 3 days before it started to go downhill. When I first hooked this up everything was working fine, but on the 3rd day my internet dropped from 80Mbps to 5Mbps. When I was wondering what the problem was (thinking router, modem, or ISP issue) it turned out to be that the surge protector was decreasing my internet speeds. Ended up taking this back to Best Buy because of this one issue. Not worth the $50 if it means it can't even deal with ethernet cables running through it at a consistent speed.

The surge protector seemed to do its job for about 2 years. I guess it protected my 50" flat screen, cable box, and DVD player. These items never got zapped, thru 1 and 1/2 years of many FL thunderstorms with many blackouts. But at 2 years my flat screen wouldn't stay on, it would turn right back off. I thought the flat screen went bad and called the geek squad, as it was under warranty. But before they arrived I decided to try a different power strip. And it solved the problem. So this $50 strip went bad and it's out of warranty. Therefore 2 stars for protecting my stuff for 2 years.

Presentation/Availability: Product was well packaged with no broken/opened box. There were many available at the store. Performance: It does exactly what I needed from this device. It protects your coaxial connection as well and it has USB ports for charging devices, which frees-up other outlets throughout the house. It has some outlets separate from the others so you can plug wider power supplies. Customer service: Very good customer service. I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked through the door and helped me to contact the correct employee at the right area for getting my product, which I did quickly.

    Superior Electric/Cable Line Protection

2017 Storms this year in Central NY have been ferocious and damaging! Most unfortunately, power surges and brown outs have accompanied many of these storms, and the resulting line damage to connected electrical and electronic equipment has been substantial. By way of comparison since I lack sufficient metering devices for accurate data collection, what I CAN say with confidence is that nothing attached to my Rocketfish Surge Protector has experienced any trouble whatsoever, while my neighbors in the same building have experienced "blown" appliances and computers.

I am a musician and producer, and so I have lots of surge protectors. (I also am into home audio and gaming). One of the nice thing about this surge protector is that it has the USB ports for charging your phone etc, and it's protection rating is very high. For the money, I think it is well worth it. There are surge protectors that are more than double the price that aren't rated as high. Next time I need a surge protector I'll probably get another one of these. This is actually my second one. It's nicely made, well thought out and the specs and features are just what I wanted.

This surge protector has a line filter in it, which is why I purchased it. When my refrigerator compressor turns on, it causes a popping sound in my home theater speakers. This is due to a poor quality receiver (previous receiver w/ same exact setup did not have this issue). I was hoping that this would be the remedy, but it is not. I do not blame this surge protector for not fixing the issue, but it seems like just a normal surge protector to me. Nothing special.

My old strip was 7 outlets, in a row, with a master outlet (which I despise). This was the perfect upgrade. The wide ports are spaced very well and I have two odd plugs that are problematic vertically and horizontally. This solved it no problem. Also, NO MASTER OUTLET. I can't wait until that 'feature' goes the way of the dodo. Great buy and since I don't have a huge amount of high powered rack components, this was perfect for my accessory needs (TV, PS4, printer, A/V receiver, Chromecast, DirecTV receiver, controller charging station, powered subwoofer).

I needed a new, reliable surge protector and power strip for my home entertainment setup, and this seemed like a good option (given how many things I needed to plug in). My only complaint would be the width, making it hard to hide behind stands or furniture, and also that it could stand to have more USB (or even USB-C) ports in the future. Only 2 USB isn't a ton, given today's world of accessories and wireless devices.

I needed a new surge protector, since the one I was using was 14 years old. The sales associate gave me information I was not aware of that I was doing that could potentially cause harm to my computer, and he guided me to the surge protector that would work the best for my situation. It has a few more gadgets attached to it that I don't use, but I feel more confident about the safety of my computer.

I went out looking for a surge protector for my home entertainment system and came across this when it was on sale which is a good price for the joule rate and the amount of outlets and usb inputs it has. The fact that it grounds your devices gives more peace of mind especially if electrical wiring at home is wacky and/or old and you have expensive equipment. It only connects to three prong receptacles so make sure that's the kind of outlets you have at home before you buy.

Bought it based on other reviews, after all, its just a surge protector & it had adequate joules. But found that for my sound system, some of the outlets are too close together. Since plugs come in all shapes, and angles, the ideal surge protector would account for those different designs. I have a Monster surge protector that I bought a few years ago that uses the side & end of the surge protector so that plugs don't block a nearby outlet. In the end, I was able to have this work & will keep it, but it wasn't ideal.
