The speaker wire that was already existing in my house was at the was on the smaller side of the scale provided in the instructions and didn't work as well as I expected. I'm sure if the speaker wire would have been larger in diameter the banana plugs would have worked much better

The wiring of the speaker wore to the banana plug itself was a pain. But once I got used to it, the process went off without a hitch. Plugging them in and releasing them from the speaker ports on my reciever was a breeze.

I moved and bought a 2nd AVR as well as decided to add 7.1 to my old AVR, so I needed some solid banana plugs for the new stuff. These looked pretty good so I grabbed the 10 pack and some Rocketfish 16 gauge wire. They work well with the Rocketfish 16 gauge wire, but that is about it. I guess that is to be expected and "keep it in house" but they are marketed as universal, so really sort of false advertising. The "centerpin" technology is just not for me. I previously have used the "twist on" style of plugs from various other companies with great success. With those, as long as you could hold the wire against the threads, the screwing action locked it in place. With these, I could only get the RF 16 gauge wire to stay connected and even that was only 75% successful. I had 16 gauge from other brands and it just slipped right out, even with the use of the internal connectors. I had some 14 gauge wire (supposedly supported) and the large internal connectors would not fit over it; without them, the wires just pop out the back. Due to my needs, I cannot re-run all of my wiring with the RF 16 gauge stuff (some of the wire already inside the wall) so ultimately, these are of no use to me. Bottom line- these connectors work well (but not great) with the in-house Rocketfish 16 gauge wire, so if you can use only that, I could recommend this but still with reservations. If you are using any other wire, I would recommend staying clear of these and going for the "screw-on/screw-down" type.

These were just what I needed to make hooking up the new media center a breeze.

Using these with Monster XP wiring. Several of the clips did not hold when I test pulled on them. Looked online to make sure I was wiring them correctly. Other than that, straight forward and fit like they should.

Made connecting speakers to receiver very easy and improved the sound quality.
