This device worked perfectly. You simply attach this adapter between the HDMI cord and the input port on TV. The only downside is price-it is a bit expensive for such a for such a simple device.

My tv sits rather close to the wall when mounted and with the HDMI hookups in the back it was impossible to reach them without this.
