Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the wireless feature, easy setup, and sound quality of the Wireless Subwoofer Transmitter/Receiver Kit. They appreciate the convenience of not having to run wires across the floor and the fact that the sound quality does not suffer from the wireless connection. However, some customers have experienced issues with delay, low volume, connection problems, limited range, and a few have even reported that they could not get it to work at all.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Works as advertised. I have the transmitter in a closed cabinet and the subwoofer behind the couch, and I experience no delay with tv, movies or music. The only con is that the supplied cables are single RCA, and my subwoofer has red/white RCA connection, so I need to get an adapter.

    Works Great for Me

I purchased this to feed a sub-woofer for patio/deck music. My outside speakers are pretty worthless below 120 hz or so. I was hooked up and playing music with-in 5 minutes. Took more time to set the crossover point on my receiver. Played music for about 4 hours without a single signal drop. The receiver and transmitter were about 17' apart and through an outside wall. Bass timing was pretty good too.

Sub cuts out at low volume

I hooked this kit up and tested with music first and everything seemed fine. It wasn't until after watching some TV that I noticed the sub would pretty much go in and out on little to no bass scenes. For example, if there was a quiet conversation going on between people there would be somewhat of a white noise with the subwoofer and then it would stop. The sound of the subwoofer would also completely stop past a certain low volume on the receiver. At first I thought this was a function of the subwoofer I just bought and was almost disappointed. Then I unplugged the wireless and plugged in the coaxial cable I had and found none of these issues. I can hear the sub constantly even at a very low volume. I'm using with a Pioneer receiver and a Klipsch SW-112 Subwoofer about 12 feet apart. I'll be returning this kit and running a cord down to the basement and through the floor.

    Worked like a charm!

We had a sub we wanted to place away from the entertaiment center, but did not want wires exposed. There was no way to do this, so we started researching online for something wireless and we found this. Went to BB and picked it up and within minutes, it was up and working! We were worried about the wireless connection, but it works great!

    Exceeded expectations

After using another 900 MHz wireless unit my expectations were low. This worked immediately as advertised right out of the box. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that this unit will add some delay, so your receiver will have to be able to cope with it. Mine said that my subwoofer was 3' from the calibration mic after a speaker auto calibration, so I just set it at the max which was about 30 ft. You also have to be sure that you don't have the signal to the transmitter attenuated or the auto turn on function won't work correctly. The first time I ran the auto cal, my sub volume was turned way up, and the receiver attenuated the sub 13 dB. With this attenuation, the auto turn on did not work correctly. Setting the attenuation back to 0 dB and turning the volume down on the sub fixed this so the auto turn on works perfect. In my setup, the sub is only about 10 ft from the receiver so wireless range is not an issue.

    Works like a charm

This thing works as advertised. Good build quality, small footprint, light weight. I can't hear any sound degradation on my high-quality SVS sub. To get the most out of this, you'll need a receiver that can set different delay lengths for each speaker, as there is a slight delay in the sound transmission (this is a common feature on modern surround sound receivers that let you set the distance from listening position to each speaker). Just make sure your receiver is set up properly (ideally through an automatic calibration program if your receiver has one) and you're good to go. If you don't have that capability its not a deal breaker IMO -- we're talking less than half a second of delay. But it is there. All in all this is highly recommended.

Could be outstanding, but it's not.

I'll get straight to the point: The sound is excellent, when it's making sound. This device could be awesome, except for one "feature" (it's a bug, if you ask me): It constantly goes into "sleep mode". So there are periods of time when theres no signal to the subwoofer. Then, it wakes up with a big "thump". Why such a tiny, low power device even has a sleep mode is beyond me, but it makes it so much less useful because of it. In a nutshell, when I'm watching TV quietly, the wireless link goes in and out of sleep mode, and randomly (and rather loudly) thumps the subwoofer when it wakes up. It's incredibly annoying. I'm not the only person to observe this. Unfortunately it's too late for me to return mine, otherwise I would. :-(

    Garbage

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

While the setup is effortless, this thing is garbage! The transmitter will assume the subwoofer has gone to sleep or turned off when there is a lack of low frequency in the media being played. To wake it up, which it doesn't need to, it sends a loud thud that sounds like someone is dropping a dumbbell on the floor. I've seen some excuses by the manufacturer saying that it's wifi interference, but that's not even close to true. I unplugged my dual band router, and this thing was still thudding. This thud occurs about every 3 minutes when there are no bass frequencies on whatever you're listening to or watching. I'm not sure why I placed any faith in a rocketfish product, but I won't make the same mistake again.

    constant thuds ruin the listening

It seems that there is an interference between its signal and wifi. that causes constant thuds even when there's no signal played makes the listening experience unbearable and the device completely useless

This set is less expensive than the $160 Sunfire set for my sunfire dual driver subwoofer. Picked up the set on sale for $45. It seems to work fine with my soundbar.

    Depends on Your Subwoofer...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My sub is one of those that has an "auto-on" switch; it will only turn on if it detects a signal, otherwise it powers down. For some reason my subwoofer would fail to detect that the wireless receiver was sending it a signal, so it would never turn on. Other subs have an always-on mode and I suspect that this kind of sub would work better wirelessly. I went back to a wired connection, but if you have a sub that can stay on constantly (instead of going into standby mode) then this should work.

Loud pops at random intervals that drive your wife nuts. She will, in turn, make your life miserable. Bought another identical product from another major retailer for the same price and it works flawlessly.

Poor connectivity with line of sight

This is the first time I've tried to convert a traditional wired device into wireless - at least when it comes to home audio equipment, and was overwhelmingly disappointed with this product. The two bases were no more than eight feet apart and could not maintain signal continuity for more than 10-15 minutes. The disconnect/reconnect process creates a resounding "thump" in the subwoofer. Having just spent a couple hundred dollars refurbishing the speaker, I can do without the undue wear and tear. I plan to return this product.

Sub-woofer is about 10" away from receiver and through a wall, and there is no interference problems or sound degradation! The kit is simple to hook-up and use. My sub-woofer goes into sleep mode when its not being used and automatically turns on when sound starts being played and this kit has no lag or problems keeping up. i would recommend getting a pair of high quality sub-woofer cables though because the included cables are very thin and cheap.
