This is a lot harder then a guitar hero that is for sure...LOL The game actually shows you some techniques and lessons before playing, which can help you play the guitar. If you struggle or have some issues with one of the exercises or songs, it will slow it down so you can eventually get it down. The game also shows you how to tune the guitar and will let you know if your playing a wrong note. This game is great for beginners wanting to learn the guitar.

Fun and instructional game. Takes a while to figure out the string orientation especially if you have used cord charts. Also I recommend you try to set up a good sound system to use with x box. The TV audio is not that good with this game. I will be getting an optical audio sound bar. Hope this will improve the quality of the sound. Hard to hear the guitar sounds. Not like an amp. Got this on sale. Great price.

I am learning how to play a guitar for the first time in my life. I am 62 years old and have never played an instrument. Thanks to Rocksmith 2014 for Xbox One S. I now know the fundamentals of playing a guitar and am motivated to seek more learning experience. The game is loaded with many songs and playing levels that can be challenging at times.

Wish I knew about this earlier. Have been trying to learn electric guitar with online videos. Fun but this game makes it even more fun to learn how to play. I recommend getting speakers for your x box. TV sound just not good enough.

I've only been playing Rocksmith for about a week. I have very little experience with the guitar. Rocksmith has been a lot of fun to practice with and slowly teaches you songs, getting more difficult as it senses you improving. I've not yet played a song without difficulty, it's also never been so difficult I've gotten frustrated.

Great way to get my son to practice playing bass. Let's face it sitting and practicing exercises from books can be boring. Rocksmith turns practice into a game. My son can play songs he likes and the game adjusts to his skill level. He is enjoying it and want to get some of the add on packs from his favorite artists!

Before playing this game, I already knew the notes on a guitar and how to play chords. This game has a lot of potential since it allows you to slowly learn real parts to songs and then build on it. The game gauges your level and then increases or decreases the difficulty based on how you play. There are some fun skills building games that makes you forget that you're playing a guitar. All of them incorporate real guitar playing skills, so this is great. The jam session in my opinion is the strongest point. I can sit there for hours and add a few different instrument, and then jam out with them. I can build my own original and interesting lead parts play them along to a real sounding band. This is very good since the other instruments play along to you and helps motivate you to be creative. The downside to this game is it's song selection. The songs that come with the game are good, but if you want to buy songs that you know you'll really enjoy, the store bundle packs can get a little pricey. Overall, I like and recommend this game, but the song selection is a little lacking for me.

I have had a guitar but never knew where to begin. This game even helps you tune your guitar. It's so simple! Plug in and begin. The exercises are easy and fun and there's no pressure. It's really relaxing. Don't hesitate!

Great learning. But be aware has delay. You must get a optical to analog converter so that guitar playing sound has no delays around 6 bucks . And don't get if you have ps4 slim it doesn't have an optical out !

This is a quick and easy way to learn playing guitar. I bought an electric guitar and hook it with the cable. Everything works well out of box. I feel I made pretty good progress so far. Highly recommended.

Was good before, with exception of some interface issues. Updated remastered version 'fixes' issues and adds some song content access. Prior purchasers should be given a significant discount (I bought on sale for a price I can't complain about).

As an amateur musician who has been playing for 24 years, I overall am pleased with this game.
Interface:
The software picks up the signal surprisingly well ('91 Gibson SG standard) with the included cable, though there are some misses at times and there is a slight lag in sound.
I had trouble getting used to the interface at first and almost considered giving up on this game. The representation of the guitar neck is the reverse of standard TAB for reading notes, so it was initially very confusing until I discovered one can reverse the neck on the screen so the high "E" string is at the top (low E on the bottom, etc). It also was confusing because I have played a lot of Rockband and Guitar Hero in the past, which has conditioned me to read the "streaming notes" as though they are sliding vertically down the neck instead of the visualization in this game were the frets are stretched horizontally into infinity instead.
Now that I've been playing the game for a week, with the reversed neck, I feel much more comfortable with the game layout. I just wish that the symbols for chords, hammer-ons, pull offs, bends, and other techniques were visually the same as standard TAB. They kind of made up their own thing, so a more seasoned player may experience a learning curve there as well. If I had never played guitar or read TAB before, I suppose this wouldn't be so much of a problem. I think it would be more educational too if, when playing through as song, the title included the time signature, key, and tempo.
Song Content:
The included songs are a pretty good mix overall, though there seems to be a disproportionate amount of some pretty obscure (and, imo, not very good) material. If I remember correctly, there are some pretty major rock titles/musicians/artists not represented in the game: Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd come to mind. I'm sure there's some licensing mumbo jumbo and other nonsense going on there. I have already downloaded a few additional titles, to the tune of about $3 each: Interstate Love Song (STP), Ziggy Stardust (Bowie), Green Onions (Booker T. and M.G.s), and Stray Cat Strut (Brian Setzer/Stray Cats). I'm not a regular bass player, but I am inclined to try learning some bass tracks since they are included with songs in the game. I think it would be fun to work together with another guitarist at the same time, since the game has a mulitplayer option (which I can only assume adjusts independently to each player's ability), but I have yet to try it out.
Other features:
-I really like the retro-themed arcade-style games that focus on technique.
-The game includes a tuner, though it doesn't work nearly as well as a standard piece of hardware.
-There's a sort of virtual jam session that, for the life in me, I cannot figure out.
-Tone selector: still can't figure that one out either...
-Surely some other stuff I haven't tried yet
To sum things up, it's a good game that works pretty well, but it's definitely not perfect and may be more appropriate for guitar beginners for the first few attempts. I wish it was set up more to look like standard TAB notation, with the appropriate chord diagrams and symbols. The selection of songs isn't bad, but leaves out some really significant and expected material for a rock-themed guitar game. Other than that, the game includes some additional fun and useful features.

Thought it would be more lesson based. Was able to get rid of lag by using analog stereo mode through receiver so there was no sound processing Makes it much more enjoyable without the delay.

Can't say it enough, this teaches players from beginners to advanced masterfully. I have moderate ability and it helps me develop my approach better. I have had friends play that are a lot better than me (Don't do this on you account learned that the hard way) and they are stunned at the adaptive nature and challenge it presented for them.... ( I spent a bit lowering the expectation of the game after they played on my account LOL)
