Incredibly powerful computer in its own right, and amazing for gaming. Portable and convenient and still gets fps that rivals my few year old custom built pc. Only drawback is the battery life, lasting only 2 hours on AAA games, but there are ways to have it last longer. I got this instead of the steam deck and I am not disappointed.

I was thinking for $400 this wasn't a bad device to get. I am more than pleasesd with the device. Even though this is the Z1 version and not the Z1 Extreme, I have enjoyed using the device. My con against the device would be the battery. Everything has worked completely fine. I would definitely recommend this device if you can get it for $400.

I was thinking of buying a laptop for my work purpose.
I have been dreaming to get the Rog Ally since its launch and at the price of 399$ it was worth every penny.
Docked with the monitor and it turns into PC for all the work purpose and gaming ready device which normal laptop cannot handle in this price range.
So this is the Best Buy for me.

Honestly you see a lot of comparisons out there, i had the steamdeck OLED and while it was great it didn't really blow me out the water. The major drawback was linux couldn't run anti cheat so i couldn't play the majority of my games unless you went through getting windows which was pointless because it only worked half the time. Got rid of steamdeck picked up rog ally z1 and it runs beautifully. I can run cod, R6, forza, apex, and more without any real hiccups. Do yourself a favor nd get this one, as for storage highly recommend upgrading internal ssd to 2tb therefore you don't need to worry about an SD card. It's 5 screws and plug and play. I take this instead of my gaming computer with me when I'm tdy for military because it performs that well.

Honestly speaking the only complaint I have about this is the battery life, other than that im in love lol, running an streaming games run realllyyy smooth, I’ve play cod, apex, and battlefield with no issues. I do recommend buying a 1-2TB ssd for more storage if your going to be downloading EMUs an Roms

I got this on sale for $400 so the performance is great for the price. So far I was able to play Jedi: Fallen Order at max settings at a fairly stable 30 fps with mods. If you have the budget for it I would definitely recommend the Z1 Extreme model but for only $400 this is great

Ended up getting the rog ally shortly after seeing my friend's ally.
Absolutely love it. For how small it it, it packs a punch. My friend showed me cyberpunk 2077 on the highest settings and it ran super well
What's nice is that youre not stuck with only steam. You can have other game apps like epic games and gog.
Youre also not stuck to just handheld mode, you can buy a dock to play on your tv/monitor.
Overall, i love this handheld and glad i got it.

One of the best purchases I've ever made. This is powerful enough to play most of the games I played ( Destiny 2, NBA 2k24, fallout 4). I love this device so much I bring it with me everywhere I got.

Amazing device!!! I’m very satisfied with it. I can PC game wherever, with wifi of course. If i didn’t have my my main PC i would def use this as my primary. My ONLY gripe is the battery. It sucks soooo bad lol just keep it on charger. And low battery mode when you aren’t on the charger…other than that BEAST OF A DEVICE

Love this handheld just wish the battery lasted an hour longer on intense games. It's fun when it's cold out and I can just be in bed playing something. Can use it as a home media system to. Takes up less overall space than a laptop.

I'm a lapsed gamer. I was a big console gamer for years and life got in the way of me playing. The Rog Ally has brought me back.
I would love to sit in front of my tv and game for hours, but this would mean putting all the household responsibility on my wife so I can be in the basement gaming. The Rog Ally has allowed me to continue to spend time with my family and game at the same time. I love the fact that it runs windows so I can play a large array of games that fit my tastes. The graphics are fantastic and it feels great in your hands.
The negative is really the battery life. I've never really gotten the described battery life while playing. But if I am also playing for hours and hours at a time, I put it on a dock and play on the tv with an Xbox controller.
The Rog isn't a replacement for a console or a hardcore gaming computer. What it does well is provide a gaming platform for people who want to game, but want to be with their family while they do it. Or that want to game but travel for work.
I love it. I love that it allows me to enjoy my hobby while not interrupting my family time. It's a great system.

Great way to play Xbox Games as well as others like Steam. This was able to run most games, and most importantly I did win on Call of Duty in crisp fast gameplay. What was great is how easy was to access game library. However , it is also full Windows so did watch a few TV shows on, check email and watch YouTube. Controls feel nice, there is good customization options for the lights on control sticks. Player through many games on Xbox and enjoyed the fact it could run many games. Battery life on base model is def not perfect so I was often having to plug in. I was not using however dicking stations, or portable chargers. Still though to sit in airport waiting for flight , jumped on WiFi and played call of duty at my gate very cool
Great system and Asus truly does cater to gamers by making easy to use and access new games through the stores interface .

There are a lot of reviews and youtube videos out there claiming this non-extreme version of the Ally is inferior or “irrelevant”. I’m here to tell you, don’t listen to them. This thing is more than capable of your portable PC gaming needs. I’m able to average 100 frames in Overwatch 2 on low settings, and there’s no stutter or lag. If you want high frames/performance, you have to play on low settings. If you want the best graphics, you won’t get high frames. You have to compromise with this device; you can’t have your cake and eat it too. However, it’s 100% capable of running triple A games while remaining buttery smooth and cool to the touch. If you don’t want to pay $700 or more, and if you don’t want the steam deck due to the lack of xbox game pass, then this is the one for you!

I purchased this when it was on sale for $399, and I am amazed. I'm able to run AAA titles on this thing with smooth gameplay, and on battery for most. It does get warm, but for this price it's the best deal on a handheld you can find.

Great product and I got it on sale for 200 bucks off. If asked to do it again, I would have paid full price. The UI takes a but of getting used since it is just a handheld pc, but it plays xbox gamepass and steam games with ease. Totally worth it.

Good portable but lacks the power to run triple A titles. Definitely put in the extra money and get the Z1 extreme model. The screen is gorgeous though and if you do light gaming this would be ideal.

I love this thing. I was looking for a handheld that could emulate ps2 and under. But this baby can emulate up to 360 if you really wanted too. Plus it runs pc games with decent settings. I didnt care for the newest triple A games since i have a home console. Is this thing perfect? Not yet, but the tech and pricing for pc hanhelds are not here and wont be here for another 2 years at least. If you can buy this on sale, dont hesitate. It does require a bit of setting up intially.
