I owned the first Ally, and I absolutely love it. But one thing that was a huge downfall was the battery life. The Rog Ally X addresses that with a battery almost double the size. Now this device can get you through a long gaming session at the highest performance. You can play most AAA titles with no problem with this device. Also, 1080p on a screen this size looks fantastic. The joysticks are also upgraded on this over the original Ally. They tweaked a couple more things such as faster RAM and also uses a full size SSD (2280) which gives you more options for faster storage. This was a welcoming upgrade, and I think this is the best overall handheld device on the market at this time (01/2025). I bought this at launch, as I did with the original Ally, and since launch, many great accessories have become available, such as the Dbrand killswitch case and also 2 brands of hall effect joysticks, both of which I have installed and highly recommend. The hall effect joysticks are a great upgrade over the original so you can avoid (or fix) stick drift, I would recommend buying them right away to avoid drift, or you can wear out the originals and get these later on.

Best handheld pc you can buy right now.
Screen is nice and bright with decent color accuracy.
The sound has been upgraded over the original.
Ergonomics are greatly improved and the device feels great in my hands even during long gaming sessions.
The extra ram at higher frequency allows you to play current triple A titles at low-medium settings at 720-900p resolution and get 30-60fps.
The triggers and buttons feel better compared to the original rog ally, dpad is improved as well.
The sd card issues are fixed with the move, the extra usb port is nice addition as well. Double the storage as well, I’ve currently got 22 titles downloaded to mine.
Device is mostly quiet even under load, they can get a bit loud under heavy loads but that can be fixed and rarely happens to me.
Finally the biggest improvement for a handheld system, the bigger battery and the improved battery performance. I’ve gotten 2-3 hours playing triple A titles and 4-5 playing smaller indie titles.
All around a great iteration of the Rog ally and worth the purchase.

The ROG Ally X is undeniably powerful, with its 24 GB of RAM, and 1 TB SSD making it capable of handling even the most demanding games. The 1080p display with a 120 Hz refresh rate delivers impressive visuals, and the extended battery life is a welcome improvement. I also appreciate its versatility—running Windows 11 means I can access multiple game libraries without being locked into one ecosystem.
However, my experience has been mixed. While Windows 11 offers flexibility, it’s not designed for handheld gaming, and navigating the interface can be frustrating. The device is also bulkier and heavier than I expected, which makes it less comfortable to use for extended periods. For something marketed as portable, it feels a bit cumbersome to carry around.
The price is another sticking point. While the performance is impressive, I can’t help but feel that it’s overpriced, especially when other options like the Steam Deck offer similar functionality for less. Overall, while the ROG Ally X delivers in power and features, its awkward design and high cost leave me a bit underwhelmed.

The Rog ally is an amazing gaming device. The Rog X is even better. Everything is upgraded except for the screen, that’s the same. The audio, buttons, ram, battery, internal storage, and ergonomics are better. The only thing I don’t like are the back m1 and m2 buttons. I prefer the original ally m1 and m2 buttons more but over all it’s a great portable gaming pc. it’s probably the best one on the market. If you already have an ally I don’t think it’s worth it to upgrade unless you just have money to spend like that, but If you don’t have one definitely pick this one up.

If your looking to game on the go, with little compromises in both battery life or performance then the ROG Ally X is the definitive the one to go for.
This is from someone coming from owning and using a Steam Deck previously. It’s amazing the amount of games that are playable on this handheld with amazing battery life. I’m talking running Forza 5 with medium settings and playing for roughly 3 hours.
While it isn’t as economically pleasing as the Steam Deck, it is still rather comfortable to hold and doesn’t have any issues like the legion go of weight or sharp edges. Meaning you can play for quite a while without any pain or soreness in your hands or simply feeling uncomfortable holding it.
Then there is the fact that for storage it uses the standard 2280 NVME SSD, so upgrading the storage is something bigger is not only easier but cheaper as well. While I did only go up to a 4tb you could also put up to 8tb of storage!
The biggest selling point for me, and what made me switch from the Steamdeck is the fact that I can dual-boot from BazziteOS (basically SteamOS on the ROG Ally) to Windows. As yes, windows is still windows and not the greatest when it comes to handheld controls without a keyboard and mouse. So I was able to get the best of both worlds. A console like experience that I’m use to with the Steamdeck, and the comparability of Windows for games that need it/run better on windows.
Overall, if you’re looking for the top of the line handheld, this is it.

Phenomenal purchase. Imo, for gaming, what matters most is 4 things to me. Also windows on a handheld isn’t the most user friend UI. I will be honest but, the touch inputs are spot on and if all else fails, keyboard and mouse will fix any issue related to setup. Because once it is setup, touch controls are not an issue and the problems with windows 11 aren’t asus’s fault.
Battery Life 5/5, lasts about 2 1/2 hours on battery on turbo mode. Thats far better then any labtop I’ve gamed on.
Storage 4.5/5, only 1tb but isn’t challenging to upgrade storage
Performance 5/5, using AFMF 2 allows this thing to hit way past 60 fps such as on elden ring. Phenomenal performance.
Display, 4.5/5, not oled but there is a video on youtube that goes into depth about this. Its due to heat and battery life (surprisingly). Oled does look nicer but imo for 120hz VRR on a small 1080p screen, the Ally x that has more than enough power to comfortably run 1080p games with some adjustments.
PS Play (Not ps remote play) once set up not only turns this into a ps portal but honestly can handle everything.
- xbox game pass
- Steam link
- Bazzite OS for a legit steam deck experience if you hate windows and want a easy non windows experience
- Emudeck for easy to install emulation
- PS Play (originally pxplay, find on github)
-You can install a theme on this to look like your favorite gaming system as well as a overlay on top of windows 11.
The possibilities are endless as if you don’t have much time to game, this will bring back that joy. Best battery, best performance. If you’re worried about warranty, I highly recommend the best buy accidental drop protection. You’re treating yourself to a nice device, might as well spend the extra hundred or so to get that peace of mind. Cheers, best purchase I made in a long time.

As someone who's always been a console gamer (mainly Xbox and PlayStation), and with my only handheld experience being the Nintendo Switch, I was pretty skeptical about diving into PC gaming with the ROG Ally X. However, after about a month of using it, I have to say I'm impressed—especially with how well it runs AAA games like Elden Ring. Playing with friends online has been an amazing experience, and once you get used to using Windows for gaming, it's not as daunting as it seems.
That said, there are a few issues I feel are worth mentioning:
Price Point: I wouldn't recommend this for the current price, especially if you're not planning to stick to AAA titles. In my opinion, you'd be better off going with an older model if you want to save some cash.
Open-Box Warning: I was fortunate enough to buy this open-box from BestBuy at a discounted price, but here's a heads-up: BestBuy does NOT test their open-box products. Mine arrived with a pretty serious issue—it wouldn't hold a charge and shut down every time I unplugged it. I nearly returned it, but decided to check the internals first. Turns out, the clip connecting the power supply wasn't even plugged in, and one side of it looks broken, which probably caused it to come loose. After plugging it back in, everything seems to be working now, but it was a stressful experience.
Quality Control Issues: Speaking of issues, Asus's quality control is a bit concerning. The console itself feels premium in some ways, but also surprisingly cheap in others. The horror stories you hear about defective units? I believe them now. So, buy at your own risk.
Ergonomics: For me, the console is uncomfortable to hold for extended periods. My wrists start to hurt after about an hour, and the lack of a grip makes it easy for the console to slip out of my hands—especially when they get sweaty. This is a big drawback compared to traditional controllers.
Button Feel: While most of the buttons, triggers, and analog sticks are fine, I'm not a fan of the face buttons. They feel a bit "mushy" when pressed. Maybe I'm just too used to the feel of the PS5 controller.
In hindsight, I think I would have opted for the older model of the ROG Ally with the Z1 Extreme chip, especially if I could find it open-box or used. Alternatively, I'd wait for the SteamDeck 2, as Valve seems to have better quality control and their console is reportedly more comfortable to hold.
Overall, while the ROG Ally X has its strengths, it's not without its flaws. It’s a good choice if you’re focused on AAA gaming and don't own a gaming PC, but there are definitely some trade-offs to consider.

The ASUS ROG Ally X is a marvel a powerful portable machine I made a comparison with the MSI Claw and the two ASUS ROG ally and both came out superior to the MSI Claw both consoles offer power Bruta and if you want a switch style console capable of running heavy games at high quality I recommend the Asus Rog Ally X for 800 dollars or less on sale, also Laptops with the same components are worth a thousand dollars up so if you don't want to spend so much money to play the Asus ROG Ally X is a good option 10/10

I havent found a flaw with this device that i found with is predecessor and its competitor the steam deck. I owned both previous. I sold them as one left performance to be desired and the ally 2023 the performance was there but not the battery life and it being a handheld it made no sense for me to take it with me without battery banks and chargers to get only about 40 minutes of battery life with AAA games. So i returned it to best buy. This is exactly what i was looking for a year ago and im not disappointed. I now have 24gb of ram and the cpu and gpu have been optimized. With custom settings and amd afmf 2 drivers or using lossless frames app i get great frames if i need it. Games run great. It beats any other device when it comes to ps3 and xbox 360 emulation. Indie games just run forever on this device. I have been impressed so far.

This is my first handheld PC and I don’t regret my purchase at all. So much power in the Ally X, super impressive. I’m able to play games like Black Myth Wukong, Overwatch 2, Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring with little to no issues whatsoever (obviously perfect for cozy games as well.) I already own a PC, but the convenience of having something like this just made me enjoy gaming all over again, especially with me traveling a lot these days. I plan to upgrade my SSD to 4TB’s because 1TB is just not enough. Definitely would recommend!

Sure! Here’s a detailed and positive review for the ROG Ally X:
The ROG Ally X is an absolute game-changer in portable gaming. From the moment I powered it on, I was blown away by the stunning display and fluid performance. The vibrant 1080p screen with a high refresh rate makes every game look incredibly sharp and smooth, whether you’re playing fast-paced shooters or exploring open-world RPGs. ASUS has truly outdone themselves with this device.
What sets the ROG Ally X apart is its unparalleled versatility. It’s essentially a high-performance gaming PC that fits in your hands. The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor ensures seamless multitasking and handles AAA titles effortlessly. Even more impressive is the built-in compatibility with Xbox Game Pass, making it easy to dive into a massive library of games without additional setup.
The ergonomics are another highlight. The device feels great to hold for extended gaming sessions, with intuitive button placement and a solid grip. The battery life is surprisingly good for a device of this power, and the fast charging is a lifesaver when you’re on the go.
I also love the customizable options—whether it’s tweaking performance settings, optimizing cooling, or mapping controls to fit your playstyle, the Ally X gives you total control. Add to that its robust build quality and sleek design, and you have a device that not only performs but looks incredible while doing so.
Whether you’re a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, the ROG Ally X delivers an unmatched experience. It’s not just a handheld console—it’s a portal to endless gaming possibilities. I can confidently say this is one of the best investments I’ve ever made in gaming tech. Highly recommended!

Look forward to having hours of fun playing tour favorite retro games. This is a full fledge laptop in a handheld form factor, so on the back end, be prepared to configure things behind the scenes to make the usability and playabilty more seamless. This is the ONE!

The Ally X is AMAZING!

The Ally X is an amazing device. The main things that I love about the Ally X is the 120hz IPS screen, the GFX capabilities, the awesome 24GB of RAM, and the amazing 80WH battery.
While the screen size is not as large as some other devices (7 inch screen), the smoothness of the 120hz (along with FSR, etc) makes gameplay feel so silky smooth! You can even tweak the settings to allocate a specified amount of RAM toward GFX usage. And then on top of being able to do this, the raw GFX processing power of the Ally X compared to other handhelds like the Steamdeck makes games look and feel that much more immersive.
And the cherry on top? The 80WH battery. I can get a good couple of hours of gameplay at 25W Turbo mode with the games I play (Spiderman 2 remastered + Miles Morales, Call of Duty, etc).
I know 2025 will bring new and exciting handhelds that may be a slight upgrade over the Ally X but if you can snag the Ally X on sale, it is definitely worth it! (I got mine during a $100 off sale).

What can I say, im a PC gamer mainly, but I own other pieces of hardware, ps5,switch,xbox and so on, i was very hesitant to buy this unit because of the cost, but what a machine, this piece of hardware is more powerful than I expected, i like playing MMO like FFXIV and this hamdheld can run it almost at 60fps on turbo mode (Laptop hight settings), the controller is very slick and it feels great to hold on your hands, the weight is on point and the battery last very long on my opinion, and since its windows you can run all your apps, convine with a BT mouse i also got i was able to modified jist like a PC, feel great to have this console and now i can be anywhere with wifi or hotspot and play FFXIV and other AAA games.
Go for it, indid and im happy with it.
This unit exceeded expectations. Will recommend 10/10

I've had the original Ally since around Christmas and this is definitely an upgrade. The boost in the ram is noticeable in how much faster load screens are. I also love the color. Oddly the only games I have trouble with are some of the slightly older lego games, for some reason they just keep stuttering and stalling.
The changes in the layout really do make it more comfortable to hold and the device itself has a bit more grip to it. I put a 4tb ssd in it (which was ridiculously easy) and I'm set!

So where to start on this. I guess we will go with performance. Keeping in mind that this is not some powerful pc, but a handheld console that is running windows with a mobile chip, it’s pretty good. I’ve been able to get smaller games like potion craft, early final fantasy games, and others at 100 frames+. I was able to get games like stray at 45-60 frames (depending on lighting by and particles) and ratchet and clank: rift apart at 35-45 frames. (This is at medium settings as well) all in all, playable and not too terrible. Great for non AAA games. On top of this, because it runs windows, you can have access to all of your other game library’s in one spot using armory crate (comes “pre installed” to the console) works well enough and in most cases better than if you were running it on just a desktop.
Next, let’s talk ergonomics. The console is comfortable. I can’t argue that the joysticks feel good to use and the buttons have a nice resistance to them. Even the touch screen was bearable. The only think I would want to have added would be a touch pad for mouse input. Not a necessity I know, but would be a good quality of life feature for the next version *cough*
Aside from the normal steam, epic, gog, and Xbox games; this console does very well emulating PlayStation games using PPSSPP and Nintendo games as well. Fantastic emulator console.
The only thing I’ve been on the fence about has been cost. 800$, to be fair, isn’t a bad cost and is fair for what you are getting with current tech. But these are the beginning of these consoles and there will be better for better cost at some point. If you don’t have a computer, sure. Get it. It’s great. But for 800? I have a hard time justifying the cost currently if you already have a pc to play these on.
As far as Best Buy is concerned however….. I got my ally from the store and there was a dented corner of the box …. Granted, this was just the box. The console was fine. But, being the nerd I am, I would have loved for the box to be UNDAMAGED when I picked it up. Kinda hard to want to keep the box on a shelf to show off when the corner is knocked in
All in all though, it is a good console and you will have fun with the thing. See yall online!

This is a great way to squeeze you way into pc gaming (kinda) if you want and as someone who's constantly on the go. Really cool its windows based cause the steam deck is just as good but its OS is limited to nearly have of steam games. But with the Ally x, its nice to be able to download other game launchers. Its can easily average at least 70-80 fps on it, of course I don't play many AAA games on it but for the ones i do, such as God of War Ragnarök, COD Black ops 6 and even Cyberpunk 2077, it plays great. Battery life is also a win, adjusting it through the built in interface to 17w for a balance of battery life as well as performance. And the it supports various sizes of NVMe drives is awesome. Planning to swap for a 2TB but the 1TB is great to have out the box.
Overall its a great PC handheld and hands down the best for its price.

I’ve purchased multiple pairs of the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE, and overall I think they offer really solid value for the price. They’re one of the more affordable options in Samsung’s lineup, yet they still deliver clear sound, decent bass, and a comfortable fit that works well for everyday use.
That said, the buds aren’t without issues. I’ve noticed occasional connectivity hiccups — sometimes one earbud drops out briefly or takes a moment to reconnect when switching between devices. It’s not a constant problem, but it does happen often enough to be noticeable.
Even with those quirks, I’d still say the Galaxy Buds FE are worth it for what you pay. They give you most of the features you’d want in wireless earbuds without breaking the bank, and I’m satisfied overall with the performance relative to the price point.
