    Not worth upgrading. You get maybe 1-2 fps more in games. Joysticks feel the exact same, not even hall effect, and the software can be updated on OG ally. I would pick up a OG ally for $400 and spend $100 doing the 90wh battery mod which makes it better, and this an obsolete, more expensive device.

    Terrible product. Plastic and cheap.

    First of all windows on this is terrible. Install Bazzite only because steam OS hasn't been developed for anything else other than the steam deck as of 4/12/2025. 5 months into this.. and I play roughly 80 hours a week.. the thumb grips on this started twisting off.. literally.. would not stick in one spot. Go buy the steam deck. Everything else sucks.

This ROG Ally is fully optimized to run full version of Windows 11 and play Steam games without problem. If you are having issues with Windows 11 and unable to play steam games, please update Windows, drivers, BIOS and the Armoury Crate utility software if outdated. Updates for the device are posted at:  https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-x-2024/helpdesk_download/ . The most current Armoury Crate utility software version is available at:  https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/ . Configure the game and video settings inside the Armoury Crate utility. Additionally, if you are playing these games online, please ensure the device has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system stability and performance. If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.

    A button breaks fast...

    Too expensive to be a good PC, decent as a mobile windows and game station. Just know you get better if you get any kind of pc, laptop, or consoles.

    Do not pick up opened box ones.

    Just got one from best buy and the 1TB ssd its supposed to come with didnt come with it. The only comment on the open box label was "residue" which says to me that they arent checking to make sure everything is returned with the product when accepting the return.

One of the primary reasons for this increase is the impact of Tariffs, particularly those imposed on China. Since most components, such as microchips, required for these devices are manufactured overseas, when tariffs are applied to these imported components, it increases the manufacturing cost, which can then be passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.
