I was deciding between this and the Steam Deck OLED, but ultimately chose the ROG Ally X for its better performance and the inclusion of USB 4/ eGPU dock support. While it's quite expensive, I feel the features justify the price. It's been perfect for tackling my Steam backlog. Battery life is pretty good I usually play on the silent mode and get on average 4-5 hours of battery life

Traded in the Ally to this. Amazing device that solves all issues with the OG including better battery life, larger memory & storage (w/2280 slot), better joysticks & ergonomics, reduced fan noise, improved cooling, additional USB4 port, faster charging (100W), and working microSD slot!

A perfect hybrid system compact for being on the go, but a powerful desktop as well especially when paired with a high end graphics card. 4K gaming with max settings is fully on the table when taking advantage of the Z1 Extreme processor. When I’m home I connect to my entertainment desktop set up and when it’s time to be on the go I continue my play sessions in handheld mode

If you want to have a portable computer and a powerful gaming machine on the gone look no further! The rog ally x is superb in every single aspect. I never dreamed of the day i can play games like cyberpunk 2077 or call of duty and enjoy the experience while traveling. Despite the battery life tanking when this thing boast so much power. You will enjoy every single second. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for the portable gaming experience.

Easy to use. Reliable game console. portable computer it is able to handle a lot of tasks apart from gaming. In a sense you're buying two things. It surprises me how many games it could play. From Minecraft to Roblox or call of duty and even the last of us. This device amazes me with the amount of games you can play on it. Apart from minor glitches, it isn't a deal breaker. It works well. I highly recommend for any type of gamer, casual gamer, retro gamer, and pro gamer. It won't disappoint you. You can play games from steam, EA games, gog, epic game store, heck even get an android emulator to play games. I recommend this product.

I'm really loving this handheld PC. It runs just about every game I've tried at 1080p 60fps. The screen is really nice especially with VRR. It's the perfect size for a handheld. The battery life is very good and it's built really solid. I like this better than my Steam Deck OLED. This is the best handheld to get in 2024 IMO.

This thing is all I hoped it would be. The battery life is amazing, it doesn't get hot, and it can basically play whatever I throw at it. I would recommend it and have already recommended it to friends.

Im coming from a steam deck and ive had the msi claw for about a week because it was on sale but ended up returning it and the rog ally x is by far my favorite. Only had it for a day but out of the box it feels amazing in my hands. The buttons and triggers are really nice and clicky but the analog sticks were suprisingly a stand out. The performance is great and so far I havent felt like I needed to rush to the charger. I would have knocked off a point for best buy but I felt that its not fair since im reviewing the actually product. The release day was on the 22nd and I noticed that once it hit the 22nd it just said that its being packaged but its still ariving that day. The entire day went by and I contacted best buy about it and they said “dont worry it will arrive today, I will even make a mark on your account to make our shippers aware” and I said ok even though it was already 7pm. About an hour after that conversation it was shipped and it said it was going to be delivered on the 24th which is 2 days passed release day. I was completely lied to and when you pre order and expensive product like that you expect it to be delivered on release day.

I will provide a long reason why I am leaving this review but a short version as well. Short Version: This serves to a very specific audience, there is not much that can be this in the form of having basically a mini PC always on the go and being able to play light games. If your travelling frequently its a great purchase) Otherwise I'd pass. For how much this thing costs I would encourage to just save a little more money and buy a entry level gaming laptop, it would have a lot better performance and personal use. Long Version. Truthfully with this being the new rendition of the previous generation, I'd figure this would have a really large jump in performance. I played about 5-10 games on it including Expedition 33, oblivion, and rematched. Although with it having a very decent battery for what the device is and the fact that it has enough I/O to be able to connect a keyboard and mouse or to connect it to a monitor with an adapter (not included) its a fantastic mini pc that you can bring with you on the go. For this being targeted as a "gaming handheld" its very short of that title. Most games even with the lowest settings barely reached 60fps which is more than playable but for a display that is 120hz I don't ever see that being reached in any game, on the base windows operating system sure but anything pass that I doubt it. - Awesome mini on the go PC. - Decent battery life - Very optimally cooled - Really good ergonomics even with big hands If you are intending on getting a handled that you can play games on the go, I encourage getting a Switch or a Switch 2 for the cost to performance its nearly unbeatable.

I upgraded from a steam deck. I like having the better battery and more powerful processor. It is a little heavier but well worth it. The usb 4 is great for running an external dock to make it usable as a main pc. Only downside is it is an asus product. I do wish that the screen was 8” and the grips were angled out because I find it uncomfortable to hold an anything other than one position after a while.

I have an original Steam Deck and this honestly blows it away. Better battery life, better performance and a VRR screen make this a near perfect handheld PC. The only problem are related to windows and those for me are few and far between.

I love this device. Solid construction, great performance, and awesome ergonomics. Battery life is great for games, even better for streaming on the go. No regrets. I invested extra and got a case. Best self-gift so far.

This has all the features you can hope for in an handheld pc. Runs silently with stunning graphics and frame rates. The battery is exceptional. I could play any pc game I want didn’t had to buy same game twice. Very happy with it

The ASUS ROG Ally X is a powerful handheld that feels like a real gaming PC in your hands. The upgraded battery and improved controls make it much more practical than the original Ally, while performance with modern games is excellent. It’s not cheap, but for gamers who want portability and power, it’s a great choice.

In its default configuration with Win11 this device is painful to use. Replaced Win11 with SteamOS and encountered some issues. Moved to Bazzite and this handheld has been working spectacularly. The screen could be more color accurate and blacks a bit deeper, but its fine. Battery life is GREAT. The Z1E processor is competant and I can run even latest AAA games a reasonable quality settings at playable to good framerates. If this had a better screen it would be the best option on the market. If you care about battery life it IS the best option on the market.

Love, love the Ally X!!! Such a great revised edition compared to last year's debut. This is the most comfortable Windows handheld out there (Steam Deck is still No. 1 in comfort), Micro SD card issues are solved; I can play AAA titles without any issues and am able to download games directly onto it without much of a slowdown (depends on WiFi connection). The VRR is always fantastic, the speakers are great and the larger battery is such a quality of life improvement and it stays quiet and cool!! Wow! I can't wait to upgrade the SSD to a 4TB and here's an unexpected surprise: when I'm playing a game and hit the power button (set to Win11 Hibernate), most of the time the game will still be able to be resumed without much of glitch where I have to restart the machine (again, this is game depenedent). For those still wondering to upgrade or buy, don't wait! Asus did a wonderful job on making this version a worthy successor. Maybe Ally 2 could have a bigger OLED screen but loving the experience!

What a fantastic gaming handheld! I have a switch oled and and steam deck oled too. The Ally X is my favorite. It has the best performance, amazing build and a beautiful screen. It’s very customizable, as you can use windows or bazzite or steam os and it’s easy to expand storage. I would prefer if the screen was OLED for sure, but at 1080p 120hz VRR and HDR games actually look better on the Ally X than those systems in most scenarios (very dark scenes are the exception where OLED just shines). I highly recommend and I look forward the Asus next iteration.

This is my 3rd PC handheld overall and it has the longest battery, which can last me over 5 hours on games and at least 2 1/2 on AAA games. It can handle pretty much anything you throw it at.

This item looks amazing and I’ve never been so excited to receive one in my life thank you Best Buy I would definitely tell people to buy this after looking at the gameplay, specs and the device itself so amazing
