The convenience of the device compromises with the power to deliver a solid gaming experience. My only advice is to ditch Windows and install SteamOS/BazziteOS. Windows on a handheld is frustrating and clunky.

Surprising how much performance upscaling is able to squeeze out of the 780m APU! Being able to hibernate the device in the middle of a game and resume within seconds is a game changer for busy parents who are often interrupted. This is the primary reason I've switched to using the Ally X instead of my GTX 3070 laptop.

The only thing I could say is that I had to order the case separately because it doesn't come like others with the case.

While my favorite is still the GPD Win Mini, the Ally X has become my daily driver. Performance has not improved over the 7840U and 8840U chips, but the battery and the cooling gives the extra headway to boost TDP and not feel choked for gaming time or power. When I need the extra power I can always stream my main PC as well. If you're considering one, at the very least give it a try.

Hoped the Ally X wouldn't suffer the same quality issues as the Ally. I was wrong. Always kept in a case, with a screen protector. Never traveled with it. about 30 hours of use, and it will not accept a charge from either USB port. Pros: Nice battery life on retro games, or indie titles. Nice ergonomics. Great performance. Cons: buttons are loud, cheap feeling. ASUS quality is ion the gutter. No longer trust the brand.

ASUS is an ISO certified company, as a result, all products go into a strict quality manufacturing standard. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections that ensure each one is trouble-free, and are built to last. If this device stop charging after 6 months of usage, we recommend you send the product in for service to determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. Uses windows 11 so make sure to Update! Aside from that i do recommend to get the dock to play better at home and great for on the go gaming

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this for on the go gaming, didnt have very high expectations/ but i was wrong, this thing is a monster running emulators, and can run almost all my pc steam games(with the exception of a few i older ones that just wont run, but instead crash). my only advise is upgrade the nvme ssd asap, a 4tb samsung 990pro with the heatsink will fit, and maybe a 1tb micro sd card.

Once you get passed the windows setup its nevsr been easier to play on gamepass or steam with a single device. Onky wish the screen was a bit bigger and the ergos were more aligned with the steam deck

The downside to this is the compatibility of some games or I might have got a defective unit. If you are looking to get this now. Wait for ROG to release the Ryzen Z2 processors and hoping they upgrade to 32GB with better graphics. Than it can play like FF7 remake better. The best part of this is it uses a regular NVMe stick so you can upgrade the machine up to 4TB-8TB.

If you want more performance and juice then the SteamDeck OLED and don't mind the IPS VRR 1080p display (which is still quite nice) you'll be for super fun gaming sessions on the go.
