It runs windows instead of steam which is much easier to setup. It has a good amount of processing power but runs better if it's plugged in. Which is not the reason I got it. I'm a truck driver so I wanted something to play while I'm waiting at a shipper or in the sleeper berth. Mine came with Xbox game pass free for 3 months. It's slightly awkward to hold if you aren't used to something like this. Everything works as it should but I highly recommend buying a case for it. Got mine on Amazon for about 30 dollars but it was too late. It has a little bit of stick drift from not being in a protected case. It's not unplayable but definitely frustrating. I hardly ever play it now and opted for a gaming laptop instead and play with an Xbox controller. If the steam deck interests you and it's something that youre planning on buying I would recommend trying this instead. Overall I'm not disappointed in my purchase. Just not for me

My son loves it. Excellent purchase, the games run fast, good memory. The only thing I could say is that I had to order the case separately because it doesn't come like others with the case.

The extra RAM and the extra battery power make this device perfect. Wishing it had OLED but it’s def worth it.

this is probably one of the top machines to buy for a handheld windows gaming console. The downside to this is the compatibility of some games or I might have got a defective unit. If you are looking to get this now. Wait for ROG to release the Ryzen Z2 processors and hoping they upgrade to 32GB with better graphics. Than it can play like FF7 remake better. The best part of this is it uses a regular NVMe stick so you can upgrade the machine up to 4TB-8TB.

Great specs, screen, and build quality. Once you get passed the windows setup its nevsr been easier to play on gamepass or steam with a single device. Onky wish the screen was a bit bigger and the ergos were more aligned with the steam deck

Honestly its a really good replacement for a gaming laptop. Uses windows 11 so make sure to Update! Aside from that i do recommend to get the dock to play better at home and great for on the go gaming

Simply the top-of-the-line gaming handheld out there. If you want more performance and juice then the SteamDeck OLED and don't mind the IPS VRR 1080p display (which is still quite nice) you'll be for super fun gaming sessions on the go.

I purchased the ROG Ally X as a replacement for a full desktop. With a dock I am able to complete any tasks I need on my 4k monitor. Using then Ally in handheld mode is a delightful experience. I am playing oblivion remastered and it runs well.

The Ally X has become a fast staple device in my household. The convenience of the device compromises with the power to deliver a solid gaming experience. My only advice is to ditch Windows and install SteamOS/BazziteOS. Windows on a handheld is frustrating and clunky.

Asus Rog Ally X is the best portable pc in the game the best battery 80 watts!

The original Ally was a disaster for me. Not just because of the absyminal battery life but having just a single USB port meant that often times while I was restoring large Steam backups from the USB drive the console battery would get depleated. I returned the SteamDeck for the same reason and don’t understand how people can live with this. I also don’t understand why some people prefer the steamdeck over this considering the ally x is more powerful and can play all your PC games. When I had the steamdeck I realized I couldn’t play over 80% of my games because they were not compatible. Even some of the verified games were not playable. If you don’t like Windows just install Bazzite OS and you’ll get 95% of the SteamDeck OS experience for more battery life and power. The only thing I liked more about the deck over the ally was the ergonomics. Sure, the Ally X is still not perfect. Besides Windows being bloatware nowadays, it still suffers from some firmware/software quirks like console not powering on sometimes, appearing to be stuck at boot, or failing to calibrate the controllers properly. Luckily for me all these were solved by just retrying the procedure. Some reviewers also reported issues with getting LCD with bad pixels, triggers having uneven feel, rumble motor misbehaving, or buttens being squeaky. Luckily the console I received has been flawless in these regards. I recommend that if your console works fine for you, then do NOT upgrade the firmware/BIOS as in the best case will only fix some obscure issue you did not run into, or worst case introduce a new issue which will prevent your from enjoying the console until a fix comes along.

I loved everything about it. But i wish the screen was a bit bigger. An 8 inch screen would have made this perfect. Hopefully on the the next iteration. But otherwise the ergonomics are ok. Battery life is great.

The ROG Ally X is an amazing option for handheld gaming. The overall design and construction of the device is very well thought out and solid. The buttons feel nice and the thumb stick lighting helps find the buttons at nighttime. The performance in game is very exceptional for a handheld device with a beautiful touchscreen display to show it off.

My son who is 16 has his first job and saved up for this. He is now out of his room using this in other areas of the house (not always in his room). Jr loves it and so do we!

Absolutely Amazing! I read a lot of reviews and watch a lot of YT videos before making my choice. I chose this over the Steam Deck and Claw AI 8+ because it was overall liked the most across the board.

My favorite recliner device. Is it bulky? A little. Is it fun? A lot. Is it airplane friendly? Definitely! Have used on many flights. Between airplanes and chilling on my recliner. This became my go to.
