This handheld gaming PC is a contender amongst the gaming industry which says a lot compared to some of the most expensive and less affordable devices.

I bought the handheld during a blackfriday deal (2024). As of the writing of this review (Feb 2025), I have nothing but great experiences with the gaming device. The rog ally X is basically a mini windows laptop; and with that said it was very easy for me to set up the device to my liking. If youre undecided whether to buy or not maybe this review is your sign to go for it! Its a neat handheld and not as mainstream as a steam deck so you will get that "wow" factor from other people when you use it in public!!

I can game via my couch in comfort. I can play cyberpunk, and mainly been doing enshrouded at the moment with no issues. I even have this plugged into a nice portable monitor for more viewing space. it also makes for a decent replacement for a laptop. the SD works fine on this version. I have a 256 UHS-I 150MB/s read card and can play games off of it. I haven't tried my external ssd yet. Merry Christmas me!

Even though I have a very good gaming PC, I've found that I reach for my ALLY X more lately, this device is amazing, the battery and performance are best in class.

I loved how easy was to set up the ROG Ally X and I downloaded all my fav PC game softwares. Bought it to have something on the go as I’m mainly PC gaming but the only thing is I’m not used to use controller so will probably buy a m&k to use it as I travel with it. This handheld is great for certain games but I decided to try some FPS games which it kinda disappointed me but for obvious reasons. I’m used to the big screen monitor and FOV so don’t recommend for FPS genre but some people do like it. It does look great and sleek, took me some time to get used to it.

I got this over the steamdeck because it can natively run windows. I have had zero porblems with running games on it at this point. Battery life is great and so is ability of it to run AAA games. Definitely reccomend!

It’s a handheld pc that’s feel comfortable in my hands. I drive trucks and don’t have much time to play games but the rig ally X helps me get a few rounds in on call of duty before i sleep. It starts up quick, play games smoothly off and charger, and duh doesn’t take up a lot of space. If you get a dock and display it on a monitor or tv so can play party games or just do any work with at a desk or on the sofa. Its worth buying if you need a traveling gaming device that doesn’t take up too much room and too bulky to travel around with it.

For the average gamer, the ROG ALLY X has been phenomenal. It’s easy to use interface and tutorials make the machine more user-friendly. It fits well in my hands and is just the right amount of heft to not make it feel fragile. The joysticks are smooth and respond well while the button mapping makes it easy to transition between games. The screen is big and bright which makes for a great immersive experience when gaming on the go. Its customizable areas are fun to make the machine your own.

Intuitive and powerful with great battery life. Definitely recommend!

I love it. It’s a great portable machine but also works great as a desktop setup if you have the peripherals. If you want a handheld PC, get this one. One star off for price. (I got mine on sale lol)

The ROG Ally X has single handily got me back into casual gaming at home, during random breaks, to even traveling. I mainly game on my Xbox Series X, but this device has become my new daily gaming experience. It also has me into PC gaming and starting to build a steam library. And with Xbox FSE, it just makes gaming even all the better.

The best laptop on the market, performance with stable FPS without FPS drops, double battery time, SSD with standard 2230 and easy to make updates.

The ally x is an upgrade from the original ally. Better battery faster & more ram two usb c ports better analog sticks. Yes its expensive but not overpriced. And the ROG soft case will fit the Ally x

Its a great portable gaming device, its alot better than it was before, you still to download drivers and stuff but but runs really well on certain games.

I’ve had my ROG Ally X for a bit now, and honestly, I love this thing. I play on it every single day. The performance is awesome and games run smooth, the screen looks great, and the controls feel super comfortable. It’s just really fun to use. I can pick it up whenever I have a few minutes, or sink into a longer session without any issues. It’s become my main way to game lately. If you’re thinking about getting one, I seriously recommend it.

So glad I purchased the ROG Ally X over the launch OG model. It’s better in every way. Love the longer battery life, larger storage size, and power in this handheld PC. It’s amazing!

Besides the black, it overall better in many ways: Easier to grip, better battery life, more ram, Overall great experience, definitely won’t disappoint!!!

I bought this right when it came out and replaced my Gaming PC with it. My baby was born in April, and it was the best compromise of being in the same room as she napped but being able to have some time to myself. The portability is amazing especially if you pair it with the official ROG case. I use it whenever I go out of town for work.

I own a Steam Deck OLED and previously a Legion Go. The Ally X has all the power of the Go and the weight and size of a Steam Deck. I personally like the size and feel of the device and am surprised by how quiet and cool it stays. Not to mention its compatibility with alternate OSes like Bazzite. I’ve had zero problems running games at 60-90 fps. The battery life is also pretty good considering, though more AAA titles will definitely draw power, which isn’t a problem for this device. I also like how easy it is to upgrade the storage as compared to other handhelds.

Exceptional device. Greatly improved battery. Be careful moving the cable retaining clip for the power cord if you do any SSD modifications. I was able to fit a Samsung 990 pro with built in heatsink no problem. Everything about it is just better. You have the better ergonomic and better hand holds. I still got a grip case though. I recommend the ally over any other hand held. The OS for the device is polished and works well. I’ve had no issues. Highly recommend
